FBI Director Comey to make statement, 11AM ET - Updated, no charges.

UPDATE:

Comey:

"No charges are appropriate in this case."

ZeroHedge

As previously reported, over the weekend the FBI interviewed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, one of the final steps in the ongoing criminal investigation into alleged mishandling of classified information. While it is unclear if related to that interview or not, in just over one hour, at 11 am Eastern time, FBI Director James Comey will make a statement from headquarters in Washington D.C.

He will also take questions from reporters.

of our own.

How many of them are there? I can't even remember the right number, but I'll bet we could all make a good run at it if we each pitched in.

Somewhere, at some point, I stumbled across a list of them all, posted online. Not sure if I bookmarked it, but I'll do some searching.

AYFKM??? You mean like nobody?

We kicked in a live CBS feed to watch it, but turned it off after he said he wouldn't recommend, so I didn't see how they ended it...

Comey walked off stage the minute he finished his remarks. But there were indications beforehand that he'd be taking off-camera questions. Convenient.

to beat the band.

The one guy in my office that's a Democrat still willing to vote for Her anyway (gotta Stop Trump!) was still pretty upset himself. In fact, during Comey's recitation--which we watched from my cube--he kept saying "holy crap, she's so fucked!". He was not happy about it, cuz he's a stand-up guy and I expected nothing less. Said "it sets a really, seriously, obnoxious bad example" (so I bit my sarcastic tongue to keep from howling "Ya THINK??" cuz I know that much was hard for him to even say....)

The Trump guys in the department--which there are, mostly, in our lovely Florida venue, as I have probably pointed out more than once--were all "Aw, HERE WE GO..." and various shades of "fucking Clintons skate again", etc. I felt bad--our resident twenty-something who's all in for Trump said "well fuck it, I might as well not even bother showing up to vote anymore, it's all fixed". I looked at him and said "They want you to quit paying attention". I think I earned his respect, but God knows, I wasn't trying, I really meant that.

And the one resident born-in-the-late-1940s Old Hippie who was hardcore Dem and all in for McGovern Back Then is all "This is just the way it is! You will never change this! Told ya so!". Yeah, the guy who will work until he's dead--like so many other people you already know or are bound to meet in the next ten years--the guy who can never retire, he's the one that's given up because he's almost 70 with no end ever in sight. So fuck it, it's not worth worrying about it. He's the resident Needler, though, there's one in every office. After Bernie Sanders "lost" California, he was giving me a ration of shit about "taking my Sanders stickers off my car, swallowing my bitterness and join together to save us from Trump", knowing full well that's like the complete antithesis of my POV, LOL.

God, I am so sick of this shit. The good news is that I can't imagine what kind of short-term fallout we're looking at from the LE side of things, particularly the FBI. This is nuts, but I also think something good will shake out from all of that. I sure as hell hope so. Because don't look now, but #bananarepublic is trending on Facebook...

whatever the FBI discovered. But even downplaying malfeasance isn't gonna sound good.

The FBI was negligent from day one when they gave her several weeks to "clean up" her server before turning it over. The fix was in from the 3AM phone call on day one.

and movements, amassing all their unchecked powers against people like MLK, Abbie Hoffman, anti-war priests, movement activists, Occupy Wall St etc. etc., including killing black power leaders like Fred Hampton (all the way back to its unseemly beginning when the gov't began deporting people like Emma Goldman in the Red Scare after WW1) but when it comes to really tackling a high profile politician, who have ties throughout the government which means they are financially connected also because their campaigns rely on such donors, then they just don't seem to have the muster to really get things done.

But if a protester or community organizer needs to be surveilled, shaken down, threatened or arrested they can really "get the job done."

Fact is, the FBI has primarily been in the business of shutting down radical LW dissent - that's all.

There is no such thing as a functioning democracy here in America. All the levers of government are used for the opposite effect of what they purport to be for.

Our job is to expose the charade of these agencies being for, by and of the People. They are not.

get a transcript up soon. Anyway, I think we all knew deep down there would be no indictment so, as disappointing as this is, it was expected. It's hard to take knowing the FBI had something or else this wouldn't have taken as long as it did. But, this proves once and for all, without a doubt, some people are above the law. It's not going to ruin my day and it shouldn't ruin yours. Clinton ain't worth that. I just hope from what I'm gathering here that Comey's words are enough to sink her.

If she's elected, how the hell will she get security clearance?

I know the answer, of course: she just will.

But I think it's an angle that the supers need to consider.

Jesus, this woman is so damningly unelectable and yet here we are.

this, but I'm starting to believe what a lot of the wingnuts are saying. That trump and the clintons orchestrated this primary. If trump weren't the "nominee" and the repubs had a more presentable candidate, hillary would be getting her criminal ass kicked. All trump's had to do was to push all the other r candidates far far to the right by using a bunch of batshit crazy rhetoric which would make hillary to look sane. Little did he know that he'd win the damn primary.

imagining the full brunt of the propaganda machine at work, paid for by the cabal of global financial elites/Wall St/Big Business, whose contributions go to paying legions of minions on the payroll of political players like the Clintons, who then blanket the media with a barrage of spin, arm-twisting, carefully crafted doublespeak, and other manner of PR, all in service of keeping their truly ugly, corrupt, venomous, and arrogant just agreeable enough to a gullible American public expected to vote for her.

At this moment I imagine the torrent of phone calls, emails, tweets, pressuring the media to read this as a great victory for Her Majesty, a vindication of sorts, by absolutely twisting around how truly harshly she was condemned. Again, the ugly head of true politics on full glaring display, that the FBI Dir basically couldn't suggest indicting the corrupt, hubris-filled and entitled SOS, because of the vast network of people who have something to gain from her unquestionably damaged and horrendous nomination.

They'll be releasing a hurricane of spin to fill, basically threaten, the MSM with, so that people get a softened image of her deep and troubling corruption and horrendous judgement.

The little media that I could stomach watching on the banal network news channels seemed to think she will have a cloud following her because of this and it will effect her credibility with voters, which is already low enough. They'll all be changing their tune by nightfall, when their editors will have heard from Clinton reps all day. She'll be looking victorious. They'll be showing her alongside Obama and the story of her reckless judgement and sheer arrogance goes overlooked.

Then on the sidelines, is the great, unassailable Sanders, with impeccable integrity, grace, vision and authenticity.

But we're going to have Drumpf vs. Monarchy?

If this doesn't do it for inspiring Revolution folks, we're done.

echoing through my head now.

"Two-tiered Justice system."

Here's the blurb on the inner flap if you haven't read it:

From the nation's beginnings, the law was to be the great equalizer in American life, the guarantor of a common set of rules for all. But over the past four decades, the principle of equality before the law has been effectively abolished. Instead, a two-tiered system of justice ensures that the country's political and financial class is virtually immune from prosecution, licensed to act without restraint, while the politically powerless are imprisoned with greater ease and in greater numbers than in any other country in the world.

Starting with Watergate, continuing on through the Iran-Contra scandal, and culminating with Obama's shielding of Bush-era officials from prosecution, Glenn Greenwald lays bare the mechanisms that have come to shield the elite from accountability. He shows how the media, both political parties, and the courts have abetted a process that has produced torture, war crimes, domestic spying, and financial fraud.

Cogent, sharp, and urgent, this is a no-holds-barred indictment of a profoundly un-American system that sanctions immunity at the top and mercilessness for everyone else.

We've just witnessed yet another chapter for the addendum he must write.
