Short update on Green party getting on the ballot in Illinois!
Submitted by Dhyerwolf on Tue, 06/28/2016 - 7:35pm
Yesterday, the Green party turned in over 50,000 signatures to get on the ballot in Illinois. I believe the needed threshold was 45,000, so as long as more 90% of the signatures are valid, the Green party GE candidate will be on the IL ballot! It sounded like Illinois was the most difficult major state remaining (earlier timeline and requiring far more signatures than many other states), so this could be great news!
My source was the IL Green's facebook page.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.
I think a lot of groups out there are planning on coalescing with the green party so as to make an impact with their protest vote. Have you seen this?

Good to know
as an IL. voter they will probably get my vote.
I believe the requirement is
I believe the requirement is 25k signatures. 45K was their goal to beat back challenges. I believe they have 10 days, maybe 9 now, to find out if there will be a challenge. But the requirement is 25k.
It's true right now like it was back then. The old devils are at it again. When I say devil you know who I mean these animals in the dark malicious politicians with nefarious schemes charlatans and crooked cops. - 'Old Devils' William Elliot Whitmore
Good to know!
If it's 25,000, then I suspect that they likely won't have any issues.
I think Jill will do really well this election absent Bernie
I just hope Hillary isn't a spoiler and stays in the race.
Beware the bullshit factories.
Anyone know what Jill's fundraising is for?
They don't say if it is for the primary, the general or the party itself. These have different limits and accounting.

Green party fundraising
Almost all the solicitation emails I get from Jill and the Greens are for ballot access, either to pay fees or to hire people to collect signatures, or sometimes for lawsuits (like here in AZ). Since the states all have different filing deadlines and different requirements, the Greens and/or Jill send out fundraising emails regularly, and each seems to focus on a different state.
I donated to Bernie all the way through, but I've also been donating to Stein to make sure she gets on as many ballots as possible. I want people (including me) to have a choice!
The struggle continues.

FEC has limits about what stuff is for
Thanks for the response.
Is ballot access different from primary or GE campaign funds? Is it for the party itself?

don't know
I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer to your (very good) questions. What I do know is that when I donate I have to fill out and sign the same kinds of declaration (U.S. citizen, employment info, etc.) as I do when donating to any other political campaign.
fwiw, here's the Greens' page about ballot access. http://www.gp.org/ballotaccess
And here's information about the process that Green candidates go through, which includes some info about financing. http://gpus.org/committees/presidential-campaign-support/2016-recognized...
I hope someone else knows the answers to your questions!
