Photography Assignment - Backlit

The main light source should be more than 90 degrees from the camera. (90 degrees is side lighting).
Pointing the camera in the direction of the sun is an obvious example. There are many other possibilities though. Artificial lights are ideal. Town centers at dusk are good. Candle light also offers up interesting possibilities. Quick tip here though, make sure that the exposure on the camera is set to spot metering and that the reading is taken from the flame.

If taking a camera out did that, I'll drop in the rechargeable batteries and go out. Droughty here. Sad, marginal water well.

Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.

Turned around, pulled out my phone, and went back to take a picture. It is kind of similar to your photo posted on the other essay. But it was striking because in the whole grassy plot, it was the only one to have opened up yet.
