(OH LOOK!):Sanders walks back pledge to vote for Hillary Clinton about an hour after saying he would

ly hours after telling the hosts of Morning Joe that he would be voting for Hillary Clinton in the November election, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders gave a less definitive answer on CNN to the same question, adding the caveat “in all likelihood.”

Speaking with CNN host Chris Cuomo, Sanders was pressed about not directly endorsing Clinton before being asked about his vote.

“Simply stated, when the day comes in November and Sanders has to cast his vote, to whom does it go, Cuomo asked Sanders.

“In all likelihood, Hillary Clinton,” Sanders replied.

Cuomo asked, “When you say all likelihood, what percentage of error –?” before Sanders cut him off saying, “I don’t want to parse words right now.”

So now what the heck is going on? Did he hear from supporters? Did he realize he may have made a mistake? Did he get news about something (I doubt it but whatever)? What's up with this guy? I made a big stink about his earlier announcement to vote for her. Now this. This is strange.

It's not good enough that Bernie has jumped on the "Defeat Trump" train...

NOW, he must denounce all others and swear loyalty to Clinton Uber Alles.

I would not characterize his original comment as a "pledge" to vote for her. He did say yes to the question, but then immediately said because he thinks Trump presidency would be a disaster for the country. (Not that HRH is good.) When pressed on whether that meant he was saying his vote would be "against Trump" rather than "for" HRH, he used the same parry, saying he didn't want to parse words. He never "pledged" anything ... I didn't see him raise his right hand and swear to it or whatever. Since it was taken by some as more than he meant, now he's softening his words. Good idea IMO.

He's been clear since the beginning that he doesn't want a Trump presidency and he thinks Trump is worse than HRH, but he's not letting her off the hook with an endorsement or promises to bring his supporters on board.

He still plans to take as many delegates to the convention as possible and press for as progressive an agenda as he can get. If he were to drop out, leave the party to run indy, or endorse her, he loses that power entirely. He's made it clear that is his plan, and that his supporters will make up their own minds and will not fall in line for nothing this time. I don't have a problem with that.

I'm still voting for Bernie as a write in it if comes to that, or possibly will vote green, but never will the Clintons get my vote to return them to the white house. Nevah.

The "power" to influence something that nobody has to follow--well, if I didn't like and respect Bernie so much, I'd have some really rude things to say about it.

Who the hell cares if we lose a power over something that's just Democratic party optics anyway?

Corporate media -- playing the part of just about every Hillary supporter I've ever met -- is demanding to hear him say he will vote for Clinton over Trump. A question that has been put to me at ToP many many times over the past year.
It is a ridiculous question.
Pinning any anxiety or expectations on the answer is doing exactly what Hillary supporters want you to do -- focus on something minor instead of focusing on major issues.
Bernie has moved Clinton further to the left on many issues -- even if she is faking it. He's done more for the progressive movement than anyone I can remember in my lifetime.
But here's the thing -- The movement isn't Bernie. Putting so much emphasis on how he answers any one question -- or for that matter anything he does from here on out, is just selling the movement short.

That is what They demand. Bernie must confess fealty and the movement will of course fall apart. Simpletons! Delusional.

Second time today I have used dismissive words.

too much. They are making a lot of assumptions, but if all goes well for Hill he would probably vote for her. Bern still could be the Dem nominee if she falls apart by late July. Or I think he could be persuadable to run as a third party candidate if we can convince him he can win that way - he won't do it as a spoiler and I don't want to vote that way either, yes, because Trump. I think he still wants to focus on the issues he is pushing for, rather than the horse race, so was trying to dismiss the vote question in a noncontroversial way, but it took on a life of its own. Obviously if he is persuaded to run third party, then he won't vote for Hill. His walking back to "in all likelihood" is consistent with that.

I agree, don't worry about it too much. Just wait and see what happens at the convention. Meanwhile, support the lawsuits. There's no point in being active in politics in any way if the votes are fixed so the folks we support can never win. We need to make sure the votes can't be fixed and any who try it suffer mightily.

The convention is still a few weeks out. I would hope that Bernie is simply walking the tightrope, or slowly walking the plank, and trying to buy time until he sees what bullshit comes down in Philly. Otherwise, I am disappointed in his acquiescence to the "Machine". But in all reality... how, at this time, could he respond otherwise?

And yes...I'm sure the Dems have his grandchildren held hostage, his assets in the hands of Goldman Sachs, and his nuts ready for the wringer if he doesn't play by their rules.

I'm still praying he will be the phoenix and rise again after the convention debacle to come.
