Sanders Won't Endorse HRC

It is only one source but it is USA Today So far I have not been able to find the video. [Edited to add: I just realized that this was taped for tonight's show.]

Bernie Sanders says he won't endorse Hillary Clinton

WASHINGTON — Sen. Bernie Sanders told talk show host Stephen Colbert on Thursday that he doesn’t plan to endorse Hillary Clinton in her general-election race against Donald Trump.

Sanders flatly said “no” when asked by Colbert whether he would endorse Clinton...

"All of you and everybody else who’s watching have got to be involved in the political process, have got to stand up and fight for the kind of America that we know that we can become and I’m never going to give up on that fight," Sanders said to applause while taping an interview for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Oh, please, don't let this be a hoax.

Edited to add: We could find out more from Sanders' speech tonight in NY (from the same article):

The Vermont senator, who remains a presidential candidate despite his second-place primary finish to Clinton, will deliver a speech at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Town Hall performance venue in New York City titled, “Where We Go From Here.”

so there is no telling what Sanders will do. Maybe if the Revolution is loud enough, the HRC camp will figure it is best to just not worry about the words as it means he will give a speech first. And that speech will be roasting her feet, legs, pantsuit, etc. = )

If the Senator feels obliged to 'endorse' because of politics, well that really doesn't bother me. I understand. We're adults. I will still respect Bernie for the efforts of the last year. He has to do what he has to do, and we can all do what we want to do.

it tells us that the politician involved is ok with being unreal. You know, the opposite of "reality-based".

Imagine if you and I had a discussion and every fourth statement of mine was a lie. You knew it was a lie. I knew it was a lie, you knew I knew it was a lie....or maybe it wasn't every fourth statement. Maybe it was every fourth statement plus an additional lie thrown in at random points. Maybe for those random lies I'd know it was a lie but you wouldn't be sure. Would you excuse those lies or would you think "this guy is a lying weirdo who will tell the truth when it's convenient"? I would hope the latter!

He's made deals all the time, to get something done. I won't hold that against him.

And I should say that I don't think he will endorse her.

He is right in that it's up to the American people, not him. But the primary problem is he is advocating for more and better politicians in the Democratic party. He's arguing for more people to get involved with the Democratic party, to run for office, etc.
How do you advocate for the establishment on the one hand and portend to fight against it on the other?
This is where some will follow his lead and stick with the party while others will not. I don't see that working together.

going to get on that stage in Philly and say in front of God and everyone that, "I support Her Highness, and I will work hard to make sure the Trumpster is not our next president." Or words to that effect. He may not outright endorse her - although he might - but he is sure as shootin' going to "support her." Short of getting on the Green ticket with Jill - or going it alone - there's No Way he can't not support her.

It is interesting that so many Sanders' supporters take affront when the HRC horde say that Sanders' people think of him as a saint, yet at the possibility of him saying the word "endorse," some Sanders' supporters throw stones at him.

I think he will say something along the line as he has been doing in that he will "support" the Dem candidate against Trump. I am not sure if he will ever use the word "endorse." There is a precedent in that Ted Kennedy never endorsed Carter. There are other things I disagree with him about, saying one word is the least of my worries.

That list is a very good list of reasons why Sanders supporters do NOT want him to endorse her. I'm surprised you don't understand that. The sense of entitlement in Clinton is so strong that that alone should be reason for disqualification.

She is the epitome of most everything he is fighting against.

Using TRUMP doesn't bother me as a scare tactic. I lived through Nixon, Reagan, Bush I and W. Frankly, I find a third Clinton administration to be much scarier than fascist fuckface von Clownstick.

Sanders is a pretty smart fella. I can see him putting an "endorsement" in terms that we can stomach. How would him saying the words "I endorse HRC as the Democratic candidate" effect the bigger picture? Would it mean that all of a sudden he was going to stop working for change, or does it mean that he needs to stay viable in order to hold her feet to the fire?

If Bernie is the person I think he is, I do not expect him to endorse Hillary. His rhetoric suggests an understanding of the failures (not his!) of the past. The lack of follow-through and the lost opportunities of the past suggest a "stay the course" strategy to me. I think Bernie is in it for the long game, and not for himself. At least that is what I hope.

Politicians rarely emerge from those depths. Start at Mayor (like he did) and maybe, in 10 years when the world is in turmoil and maybe there is any sort of functional government claw your way up? Those of us over 50 have a different time course in mind. I am not sure about the 20-25 year olds. They see the future looming too.
