Tony Rice

Album of the week 8-23-25

Afternoon folks!

It's another interesting week with three kinds of blues for you. Starting off, there's Texas Telecaster Master, Albert Collins playing live in 1973 at the El Mocambo club. Then there's an album from blues organist Jesse "Wild Bill" Austin with the Blues Brothers horns and after that is an album of acoustic country blues from Scrapper Blackwell. Moving on, in the folk-rock-blues vein we have The Band concerts from which the Rock of Ages live album was culled. We finish off in the Bluegrass department with an album from Tony Rice and Peter Rowan.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 11-2-24

Afternoon folks!

Well, there's a real grab-bag of goodies this week. Starting off we've got an album from New Orleans blues guitarist Snooks Eaglin after that there's an early album from the Climax Chicago Blues Band and an album from J.J. Cale. Following that we've got some fancy acoustic guitar work from Tony Rice. Then we've got some rockabilly from Carl Perkins and some Zydeco from Buckwheat Zydeco. We finish off with some straight ahead rock from The Godfathers.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 6-17-23

Afternoon folks!

Well, another week, some more music... First up there's some blues - a live 1971 album from Taj Mahal, followed by a late 60's Otis Redding album. Then there's a bunch of blues-rock with Delaney & Bonnie, a live album from Rory Gallagher and yet some more Foghat. Then there's a change of pace with some bluegrass/americana from Tony Rice, some country-rock with The Flying Burrito Brothers (I'll probably post some more from this live album into the playlist next week sometime) and we finish off with an album from Tony Joe White.

Enjoy!
