The last few weeks has witnessed a massive wildcat strike of about 35,000 workers at nearly 50 “maquiladora” factories in Mexico.

Republicans have been pulling their hair out this year because of those darn public school teachers. The GOP has been demonizing them for decades to further their goal of privatizing all schools in America, which went into overdrive with the rise of the Tea Party.
Starting with West Virginia, the teachers finally started fighting back.

Of all the states to undergo a teachers strike this year, Oklahoma gave the teachers the least amount of concessions and the most disrespect.
Some of you may remember this moment from a few months ago.

The teacher strikes are over for now. More teacher strikes will happen in the fall (L.A. being one of those). But that doesn't mean that the teachers are satisfied with their modest gains. They are still organizing and taking action.

Only two states pay their teachers less than West Virginia.
One of them is Oklahoma, which is about to see a statewide teachers strike.

Last week the teachers of West Virginia went out on strike due to low pay and weak health benefits. On Thursday things got interesting.

Tuesday night, state union leaders and the Governor Jim Justice reached a deal, and the teachers were expected to be back at work on Thursday.

They didn’t go.

The Alaska Professional Teaching Practices Commission is endeavoring to include a clause adding gender identity to its code of ethics.
