Magic Slim

Album of the Week 1-25-25

Afternoon folks!

Leading off this week is an album from Magic Slim followed by some more Chicago blues from Detroit Junior, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson and Queen Sylvia Embry. After that it's on to blues rock with albums from John Mayall and Catfish Hodge. I've found some more Funkadelic albums hiding in the basement and there's another one this week. After that we've got some acoustic country blues similar to the work of Jimmy Rodgers from a fellow named Cliff Carlisle. We finish off with an album from a great dobro player, Mike Auldridge.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 9-14-24

Afternoon folks!

This is another good week for the blues. Starting off we've got a late 70's Muddy Waters album, followed by a collection of Chicago blues acts (Carey Bell, Magic Slim & The Teardrops and Johnny "Big Moose" Walker) and finishing off with a compilation of LaVern Baker singles. After that, it's blues rock time with a greatest hits comp from Wet Willie, a later 70's Climax Blues Band album, an Elvin Bishop album and a Pretty Things album. We finish off in the diversity department with a hard to pigeonhole stylistically, but nonetheless interesting album from Don Nix.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

I've got four playlists for you this week from Magic Slim, Memphis Slim, Roomful of Blues and Brownsville Station.

The Memphis Slim album is missing a track which a rights organization has blocked and the Brownsville Station album is mostly complete, I will upload the last couple of tracks late Saturday night or Sunday sometime.

Enjoy!
