In my junior high-school all the boys took classes in woodworking and metalworking. I know I took a class in mechanical drawing also, but that was held in a regular classroom. The girls took cooking classes and sewing and - I think - typing. After class the bolder boys would compare notes with the girls wearing bras. I think.
Overhills High School in Spring Lake, NC has elected a transgender student as homecoming queen. Selena Milian, an 18-year-old Native American, won the race on October 21.
Her win comes as North Carolina faces increasing pressure to repeal the transphobic HB2 bill, which makes it illegal for trans people to use the correct bathroom. The state has suffered a number of sporting and cultural boycotts, costing around $395 million.

Soon after her election, Landon started receiving hate from the Twitterverse.
Everything was such a fairy tale and the world stopped for a minute. People, like, hate me. And now there is a group that hates me, going out of their way to be mean to me.

We might have guessed. The folks at Westboro Baptist have decided they need to picket OPHS...and that was on for today. They spout something about landmarks...which I completely don't get.
Do these people not work? How do they go to these protests all over the place? I’ll be working, but Landon knows I’ll be there with her.
