Albert King

Album of the Week 4-6-24

Afternoon folks!

This week, we start off with two of the greatest blues harmonica players, a compilation of early recordings from Sonny Boy Williamson and and album from James Cotton. Following that there's a 70's album from Albert King. Entering the blues-rock segment, Lonnie Mack follows that with (I think) his first album from 1963, and there are albums from Johnny Winter and Dr. Feelgood. In the diversity department this week there's a compilation album from The Move which I will add a few more songs to later this weekend.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 3-23-24

Afternoon folks!

This week there are albums from all three Kings of the Blues, including one kinda goofy, kinda interesting album of one King doing the songs of "The King." After that we've got some soul from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, some blues rock from Johnny Winter and some rockabilly from Wanda Jackson. In the diversity department we've got an album from Geoff Muldaur that I picked up at a used record store many years ago having heard one track on the radio and thinking the whole album might be a bit like that. Oops. Bonus points if anybody can figure out which cut that was.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!

Album of the Week 2-10-24

Afternoon folks!

Here we go. Starting off we've got an album of acoustic blues from one of Leroy Carr's guitar accompanists, Bill Gaither, followed by a compilation of Chicago harmonica blues. After that, I've uploaded half of a compilation album of Albert King and Little Milton Campbell. Youtube had a site error the other night and I wasn't able to get Little Milton's side uploaded as I had planned, but I'll try to get it uploaded as soon as I can. After that, there's some blues rock with Johnny Winter And followed by a live album from Robin Trower. In the diversity department, there's an amusing solo album from Peter Stampfel, one of the founders of the Holy Modal Rounders. Finally, there's a single from King Curtis with Eric Clapton that never got much attention but should have.

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

Album of the Week - 8-13-22

Afternoon folks!

Well, there's albums by Otis Redding and Chuck Berry. There's also a great album of Albert King and Otis Rush tunes that Youtube mysteriously split into 3 playlists - go figure! Rounding things out, there's another Savoy Brown album and a double live album by the Climax Blues Band.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!
