Friday Night Photos Rose Garden Edition

Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 10/09/2026 - 5:00pm

Another Friday night. You know what that means. Time to post any photos, memes, music or anything else that brightened your week or you find of interest.

Yesterday was the first day since last Friday the mercury dipped below triple digits. The worst of the heat wave was last Friday when temps topped out at 111°. I've lived in San Diego county since 1977 and I don't remember it ever being that hot. Hopefully that will be the last of the extreme heat until next summer. Supposed to get rain Sunday and Monday.

Since I'll be passing through the City of Roses (Portland, Ore) on my way to Tillamook, Ore. on Sunday for a five day get together with family, I thought roses would be an appropriate subject for tonights photos.

BTW

Are you impacted by this? On the map Newport Beach appears to be close to San Diego.

@humphrey
Newport Beach is about an hour and a half north of San Diego. I haven't seen or heard anything like that happening along our coastal cities, but I haven't seen any local news today.

Beautiful roses, all. The second image of orange folds makes me think of a frilly curtain, from which something unexpected might jump out ; ).

Are you driving that long distance from home to Tillamook? It looks like a beautiful area.

@janis b
It's a three day drive one way and that's more time than I want to spend on the road so as much as I don't like flying I'll bite the bullet and spend a few hours on a plane.

Nice signs of spring. I like the patterns on the Dandelion. It was 92° here today. You'd never know it was Fall. It's supposed to be in the low 60s in Oregon. That will be a nice change of pace from the heat we've been having lately.
