Well, folks, in case you think of Texas as all cowboys and rodeos all the time, please check out our Ren Fest.
I only went to the Festival once, when it was a new thing. A friend was a ballet dancer who got a paid gig to dance at the grounds, so I went to see her, had some woman read Tarot cards and predict my future.
The Festival is coming soon, is fairly close by, so who knows? I might want to see some jousting.

Last evenings forecast of a heavy t-storm turned out to be a light rain of 5 minutes duration.
What came afterwards was a cool breeze with a hint of autumn. Nevertheless, we are still in 5th week of lovebugnado still going strong.

Good morning...
Last week we got relief from the heat, but this weekend through labor day, we're back in the oven. However, the end is in sight ...fall is around the bend.
The Ren fair looks interesting. Summerville has a little one in conjunction with the steam train excursions from Chattanooga, TN. We've got Finster Fest in about 3 weeks, and the County Fair is on this weekend. Fall and spring are festival season. I remember well from my days in the band.
The Larry x 2 video is excellent.

The downsides are parking and food costs.
About 10 years ago, I was in the waiting room at the eye clinic in Houston, doing the cataract surgery thing. A family was chatting about having attended the festival, about how fun it was to watch jousting. They were floored at a hotdog cost $20. I can only imagine the prices now.
Our county fair starts in late September, lasts through the first days of October. It is a fair, a rodeo, a carnival, and a livestock show. No music. Unfortunately, it draws in many drug dealers. This started about 20 years ago. I avoid the whole thing.

$20 for a hot dog? You gotta be kidding. Believe I would go without and buy enough buns and dogs for several meals at the grocery for $20. Besides my bet is they weren't that good anyway.

Most of these fairs and festivals
ban the attendees from bringing their own food, drinks, and even bottled water.
Sooner or later, you have to pay the price to spend a day at them.

In the US, We the People have no ability to affect the immediate future. Our seriously, mentally-ill leaders are beyond our control. The upcoming elections mean absolutely nothing, The best USians can do is to pay attention and try to adapt to the economic nightmare that is being forced upon us by the leaders we elected.
I mention the Larry + Larry interview you posted, because both men reach a realization at the same time that the US is in a runaway crisis caused by the Psychopaths who control the US government. It's already too late to stop it. Toward the very end — starting at 44:00 — the two Larrys deliver a final warning to viewers. This is worth watching until the end.
In my opinion, watching is all that can be done from inside the United States, at this point.
I'm still marveling that I actually get to see the Death of an Empire in my lifetime.

I am glad you liked the video and commented on its' major point.
My parents survived the Depression and WWII, came out of them sincerely believing the US had to run things, such as NATO, to keep us out of a future world war. Their attitude started to change during the Korean conflict, and by the Viet Nam War, they became isolationists.
Dad left the Masons, we dropped out of the Church of Gospel and Patriotism, a/k/a, the Baptist Church.
Elections are a clown show, Empires should not exist. I have been a dissident since childhood. I hope this further explains my identification as a Texan. US citizen, not so much.

You have a remarkable upbringing.
Not ordinary, at all. I, too, have been a lifelong dissident, but I didn't discuss it much. It upset people. I'm pretty certain people will find a way to survive and cooperate, once they get over the false boogeymen and other invisible beings who torment their minds. That may not be so easy for older generations, but that doesn't really matter.
Living in relative isolation, inside a genocide nation, beyond the reach of bombs ..... there's just a lot to overcome here. USians need experts and geniuses and people of merit ... and not politicians.
What happens next is a toss up. Do you think that Health care in the United States is going to get even worse than it is for a very long time? Or do you think Health Care in the US is suddenly going to get much, much better? It's going to go in one of those two directions. And that will tell us what to expect.
I have no trust in our health care
system. There is too much $ to be made from an unhealthy population. Big Pharma and corporate hospitals have a lock on the system. What oncologist would desire a cure for cancer? Drs. specializing in treating the elderly have no incentive for a dementia cure. The person most likely to be the next Speaker of the House, Good Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, gave an interview this week and said he doesn't support Medicare for All. When, not if, the economy crashes, so will the health care system.
The tariff wars will interfere with various compounds and medicines, as well as medical equipment. We do not have factories making surgical equipment. We import them.
What I do trust is the stated goals/plans by the WEF, Club of Rome, and WHO, that we need to de-populate the globe.
Some may truly believe we need to disarm Americans. I suggest after they give up their self-protection that they make fast friends who said "no way".

Good afternoon. Not much to contribute, had a houseguest
yesterday and today, so we are a bit further behind, but it was nice and we had a pleasant time. On their trip here they came via Donner Pass and said there ws hellacious rain up there, none here, of course. Meanwhile, it is seriouosly hot down in San Diego area, so we get a full range of weather across the state.
Haven't seen the video yet, but I don't expect any good news. Likewise the national scene. As usual life is best described as mirrorworld. For example

They have been and are trying to figure out how to give a chunk of Yosemite to a private developer "in exchange for equally valuable land elsewhere in California." There is no equally valuable land elsewhere in California. Why do they wish to do this. A private developer wants to build a private resort just outside the park and to build a short cut road through the park and into the heart thereof it's customers don't have to drive 10 miles on actual already existing roads to an already existing park entrance and then from the park entrance to the heart of the park. Typical. I hate to cast stereotypes, but real estate operators, developers, speculators and all that are one of the lowest and sleaziest tiers of humanity, not to mention soulless.

Now about real estate developers being crooked, sleazy, no good bastards...around here, it is the logging industry that is going to cause the prohibition of roads in most of the National Forest to be set aside by the Forest Service. Now, when they push to be able to cut down the pine trees, the Forest Service might find that Canadian lumber can't be imported, and just might declare that in times of emergencies, we lose some forest.
It might be karma if all those fancy resorts around parks get taken over by homeless veterans.
