A Little Theme Music For The Past Few Days Around Here

Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is exciting, isn't it?

We here at c99p have experienced a yuuuuge influx of refugees over the past few days!

So, I thought this little piece of 'Ελληνικι was rather appropriate, and fitting to the situation.

Notes: The English translation is my own. I am not a fully qualified Hellenophone, nor do I play one on TV. If you are such, and you find I made a boo-boo, please let me know and I'll update. Also: a "Basto cord" is an extension cord; the reference is to the use of electric cords to strangle people (which the singer of this song refuses to do!)

Aρνιέμαι

[English]

I refuse
Music: Mikis Theodorakis
Lyrics: James Kampanellis
First run: Vasilis Papakonstantinou
English Translation: Sean McCullough

I refuse, I refuse, I refuse
[to put] others to Vasto cords
I refuse to go with the slain
I refuse to drown in the mist.

I refuse, I refuse, I refuse
and be you not to me
that my fate dominate
with my own land and water.

I refuse, I refuse, I refuse
to see my way now closed
I refuse if I had thought that silent
waiting time in vain.

Raggedy Ann's picture

Sounds pretty appropriate to me.
As a side note, my boss is from Greece and calls herself an anarchist! She's probably familiar with this song! Smile
