The Logos of Persephone
Again I fall, and laugh as I do
For there is joy in rising once more anew
and looking upon the world fresh and light.
For my drudgery and service are but a small part
Of my life. The joy in the face as I return
to two homes in sequence, neither the greater.
For I could never live soley in Olympus
the air and light weighs heavy upon a soul
that seeks instead the touch of soil and the silence.
The company of friends, and the relaying of the bills
of life that are paid each year unto memory.
Dreams and truth becoming one as the spirals turn.
So again I rise, to take in the worlds love
Celebration among those that hunger,
frustration among those who collect the rents,
liberation for those that dance again.
But as all things, eventually the duty comes
and I return, laden with parcels and missives
a mail call for the place where man's host waits
for my words, my hope and my love.
The elation of the shade to a mention,
Each prayer and recollection a morsel
a treat sent from home for the resting hero.
For another secret I shall relay to you heroes,
As you proudly stand upon your bows and sail
for those lofty fields you have been promised.
When the games and duties have grown too heavy
and the prayers lie in hoards upon your altars
It is no matter at all to put them aside
and find a quiet contemplation among the throngs
who are content with fond memory, and no curses
left in piles of offal among the ambrosia.
Gods too, can put aside their great works
and their great temples. They can choose to remain
within the world, and diminish happily.
For when Hades wrestles he does not do so
As a God among men. For what good is a game
where the end is known to the oracle?
Better to start the game afresh each year.
And trust yourself to play better next time.

Thanks to Persephone
For her words, and thanks to the muses for relaying it. This is the 2nd to last piece in the 3rd act of "The Logos Of Antisthenes"
The last one was deliberately saved for last, and should be pretty obvious.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Thanks, detroit, now awaiting the next.
That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
The next one is intended to be the closing piece of the play.
Honestly, if this was in a theater, I'd bring the house lights up at this point, because the idea needs to be that this important and very vital speech will be missed by those who are in a hurry to leave. In essence, it's the End Credits sequence that the impatient will miss. (Curtain Calls? Well, if they're calling for it at this point, even BETTER for the last speech, because then it functions as an effective "Encore". )
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
I was going to write that I was awaiting the finale, but I
figured that such an assumption was presumption, and it was up to you to declare it to be such.

Not at all. I'd been alluding to that for a while.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
tis the season...
...and Persephone still roams the land....at least for a few more months.
Perhaps her roots are deep...
"the Greek story of the abduction of Persephone may be derived from an ancient Sumerian story in which Ereshkigal, the ancient Sumerian goddess of the Underworld, is abducted by Kur, the primeval dragon of Sumerian mythology, and forced to become ruler of the Underworld against her own will" http://www.sacred-texts.com/ane/sum/sum08.htm
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Interesting. And the version of Persephone I hear...
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
