Well, here we go again. New Orleans piano legend Professor Longhair starts us off with a live album, Percy Sledge follows up with a great soul album and then it's back to the piano again with Jay McShann, a staple of the Kansas City blues. There's a Fleetwood Mac compilation from back when they were a blues band and an album by another British group, Brian Auger's Oblivion Express and sticking with the British thing, there's a great Richard Thompson album. After that, there's a classic album by Gram Parsons and some Commander Cody finishes things up.

Earlier in the week I was going through my photo archives looking for a photo I took about 10 years ago. Sadly I was unable to find it but in the process I came across a bunch of photos that I played around with in photoshop or other photo manipulation software and thought they would make a nice change of pace from the usual birds, bugs, beast, and flowers I normally post.

My generation. Born of world war. Born of a conflagration so great it caused humanity to pause and reassess itself. Standing on the brink will do that. My generation was born of the "greatest generation", and was weaned by middle class affluence. It was one of those times in history when the pendulum swung in favor of the common man. It was a time when capitalism worked, and not just for the wealthy. Capitalism had prevailed over communism. It was that dualism that gave birth to my generation. Enlightened pols had gone against the grain of opulence and levied hefty taxes on the rich that paved the way for decades of prosperity. That prosperity defined my generation, but it also set us on the trajectory to the present.

In response, the U.S. Congress has passed $65.9 billion in Ukraine assistance as of mid-November, and then the White House asked Congress for another $38 billion in Ukraine aid. That's over $100 Billion and counting.
