Yet Another Sign of the Broken Nature of Money in Politics: Mark Warner (D-VA) coming to Los Angeles?!

I got an email this morning that I found odd. Mark Warner, one of the remaining conservadem Senators and one of the few to escape the 2014 bloodbath, is coming to Los Angeles in order to raise money. A lot of money. For the cut rate price of $1,000, I could see one of my least favorite Democratic Senators who has literally no real reason for being here; if I'm feeling opulent, I can spend $5,400 to be a host. He's not even up for re-election until 2020, but thanks to the Supreme Court, Senators literally have to spend hours each day on the phone fundraising.

I wonder what they'll be saying at the event that will make people fork over $1,000 to Senator who they've probably never heard of before this.

"Obscenity?/
I'm a Senator/
I gotta raise $10,000 a day every day I'm in Washington/
I ain't getting it in South Central/
I'm gettin it in Beverly Hills/
So I'm votin for them in the Senate the way they want me to/
and-and-and I'm sending them my bills/
But we got babies in South Central dying as young as they do in Peru/
We got public schools that are nightmares/
We got a Congress that ain't got a clue"

It's a big club...and you ain't in it!

It makes perfect sense in that context.

I vote in Virginia. My disgust with Clinton was presaged by my distaste for Warner.

Her VP list must be pretty bad given on the little we know so far. I mean, I guess Warner is better-ish than Julian Castro, but both of them would make liberals even less likely to vote for Hillary.

Than Hillary as is. For her sake, I hope she has the sense to pick a progressive VP. But she is so arrogant she probably won't and I hope she doesn't, as she'll be more likely to lose.
