For y'all tweeters, THE NEW RULES
Rules should be easy to understand. We heard you, ours weren’t. We updated, reordered, and shortened them, so you can know what’s not allowed on Twitter. Click through this thread for all our rules, and read our blog to learn more.
I'm so old. I remember when the Internet was a freedom zone, good, bad, f*ng ugly, alt-something Usergroups anyone? I was okay with that.
Oh that damned Bill of Rights:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Now Joe! (or his millennial somethings tweet on behalf of the candidate cuz he still has a flip phone with those extra large numbers -- technology!)
And Congress goes after Twitter/Google/Facebook/Apple/Youtube in 1. 2. 3...
They know where you live. They know what you do. They are watching you (me too!). Patriot Act anyone? Feel better now?
Still need convincing?

you missed a tag
The tag is "MONOPOLY".
Twitter and Facebook are essentially absolute monopolies. No other company does what they do. Or if such companies do, they're so small and possess so little market share, that they may as well not exist at all.
Google/Alphabet is today more of a holding company than a technological one. The actions of Google/Alphabet make it very clear that their business plan goal is monopoly control of all Internet-related technology.
Apple's virulent love of closed technology puts them in the same boat as Google/Alphabet.
Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are monopoly public utilities. They should be nationalized.
This is why these issues are not just about the rights of private companies to determine how company assets are going to be used, as conservatives and libertarians claim.

"Article the third" does not precede the text of the First
Amendment.
See! See! It's the damn internet!
What I pulled up had it sectioned with the first 2 paragraphs as 1 and 2 leading to 3 which is Amendment 1.

One of many reasons we cannot trust the internet! (-;
It's not Congress--it's Democrats, lead by Mark Warner
who are out to censor all social media platforms. Repubs are upset that the same social platforms are censoring them--as they perceive it.
From Axios:
Scoop: 20 ways Democrats could crack down on Big Tech
Twice this week, already, have heard Warner on Cable TV say he wants to get several bills passed which will put "rules of the road" in place (for social media). And, that will "establish guardrails" for Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube.
Yikes!
He even has a White Paper on shutting down media. Here you go,
White Paper(DRAFT)--U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner Potential Policy Proposals for Regulation of Social Media and Technology Firms
To top it off, most of the Dem Party candidates are on board with this proposed censorship.
Of course, after the Russia Ruse, and the 'attempted' soft coup they almost pulled off (with the help of US Intel spooks), I suppose nothing should surprise anyone.
But, still . . .
Mollie
Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
YouTube is getting in on the fun too
This might should be a stand alone essay, but hopefully people will read the full article.
"This Will Not End Well" - YouTube's Latest Purge Of "Extremist Content"
Who gets to decide what is harmful content? Google? Yep. Congress? Yep them too. The secret government organization working behind the scenes? Yep again.
As Molly stated above and I have in my various essays on censorship congress is getting involved into deciding what the social media rules should be. No matter that they are not supposed to do that.
"Congress shall make no laws...." ahh, but they don't think that laws are worth the paper they are written on.
Meet the new Rules, same as the old rules! "Censorship is."
has always been a complete sentence. Now monopolies, OTOH, remember when Messy$hit got (not really whatsoever) punished for anti-competitive behavior? I expect more of the same now.
