Why democrats keep losing

Starting with Pelosi offering people going through bankruptcy access to a lawyer during their troubling times to Joe Kennedy thinking that people being forclosed on should also have access to a lawyer whilst going through it to Chuck Schumer on hearing a man committed suicide because his unemployment benefits ran out and he couldn't keep his house thought that he'd pass suicide legislation.

Pelosi didn't want to let Trump send out stimulus checks with his signature on it cuz it would have given him a better chance to win. Hey Nance, how'd Florida work out for ya?

But here is a more shocking poll: 72% of Americans want single health care. Plus a bunch of other 'liberal' things.

How many ballots have been thrown out/not counted for whatever reason they came up with? As Joe said, "No government of a democracy worthy of the respect of its citizens fails to count all of their votes."

Lincoln Project 'Epically Failed,' "Turns out there were no 'Biden Republicans.'"

In response to Tuesday night exit polls showing that a greater percentage of self-identified Republicans voted this year to reelect President Donald Trump than supported him in the presidential contest four years ago, progressive commentators characterized the massive spending by anti-Trump conservative groups like the Lincoln Project and the associated attempt by Democratic challenger Joe Biden's campaign to appeal to GOP voters as a misguided and ultimately losing strategy that squandered crucial resources.

Comments:

- They didn’t fail at all. They got exactly what they wanted- the transformation of the Democratic Party fully into the NeoCon party of War.

- When we look back to the famous Powell memorandum and the subsequent Reagan years, it seems that American conservatives had but two goals. First, turn the republicans into fascists. And second, and perhaps more importantly, turn the democrats into republicans.
It appears that they have succeeded on both counts, as by any measure, Joe Biden is simply a Nixon Republican.

Can you believe Obama went back to Flint, Michigan after he told people to go screw themselves?

The Biden campaign made no outreach efforts to the Latino community. Other than putting Harris on the ticket (maybe they thought that would be enough) they made no outreach efforts to the African-American community. They made no outreach efforts to the young, they made no outreach efforts to the progressives, they made no outreach efforts to working people, they made no outreach efforts to out-of-work people.
Republicans, that's who they reached out to.
At the time I'm writing this Biden needs Nevada to get to 270. Maybe he gets one of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, or Georgia. Or maybe he squeaks by with exactly the minimum required.
What lesson will the Democrats draw from this? They need to be more conservative.

@WoodsDweller

Maybe having the guy that wrote the crime bill running with the person who upheld it wasn’t such a good idea? I saw countless blacks saying that the crime bill ruined their life or someone in their family’s life so why would they vote for either of them? Harris was a drag on the ticket since she couldn’t even get votes in California.

But there were warnings to democrats for over a month about the Latino vote and still they did nothing. Except that Anna Nevaro republican woman who was put in charge of it. Swell move Dems.

I think this is the biggest reason democrats didn’t do as well as they thought they would.

They made no outreach efforts to the young, they made no outreach efforts to the progressives, they made no outreach efforts to working people, they made no outreach efforts to out-of-work people.

This started way back when Biden poo poo'd the younger generations when he said, "Give me a break" when they told him they were struggling.

"Come on, man give me a break!"

They gave no hope to the millions who are unemployed and risk losing everything they have worked for. An long time member of DK wrote a very sad diary today and my heart breaks for her. She is losing her business and having trouble coping. Multiply this by 10's of millions and democrats ignored them. Maybe going for the illusive republican vote by having all those republicans at the convention wasn’t a good idea either. But if Biden wins he’s putting Kasich in his cabinet. How many Lincoln Project guys will be there too?

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg What have the Dems done for anyone in the last ~40 years? Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Fuck all. Except a watered-down Republican health care bill. Why should anyone vote for these clowns? Moving further right doesn't help them win. Obama won because he ran on a progressive platform; why do they keep denying that? They could give the people something, ANYTHING, to help; people are literally dying out here and they don't give a single shit. Diablo

@snoopydawg They did so little with so much money. Still, they will see it as a big success because they enriched themselves and their friends.

Why do they keep losing?
Simple, Obama taught them well. They lost big time under Obama.

It will be interesting to see who the presidential electors choose. I'm wondering if we'll see a bigger turn out of unfaithful electors in blue states. I think, could be wrong, but, Washington state is about the only state that faithless electors get a $1,000 fine if they do not vote the way the voters voted. (Hillary had more faithless electors than Trump in 2016).

From seattletimes.com (5-23-2019)

The “faithless electors” who defied both a pledge they had made and the will of Washington voters by casting their Electoral College votes for candidates other than Hillary Clinton in 2016 can be fined $1,000, as state law stipulates, the Washington State Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

Four of Washington’s 12 Democratic presidential electors went rogue in 2016, with three casting their votes for former Secretary of State Colin Powell and one casting his vote for Faith Spotted Eagle, an activist in the fight against the Keystone XL Pipeline. All had signed pledges to support Clinton if she won the state’s vote.

They took their case all the way to the Washington Supreme Court, and lost of course. Crazy

He still blames the voters for his huge loss in 2010 instead of looking in the mirror and seeing that people refused to vote for him after his many betrayals.

But he also put an end to Dean's 50 state strategy and then dumped the people who helped him win. This is when he turned into the Reagan Republican he was. Took off his mask and showed what he really was. Hell yes he owns this. Lots of people didn’t forget that Biden helped Obama screw us. I sure didn’t.

from a reasonably stable genius.

how many Rightist Democrat senators are trying to defend in 2022? The Senate could wind up with a veto proof Republican majority, not that President Harris will need one.

And so it starts. Democrats already coming up with excuses for why Biden can’t do what he said he would. The mean republicans aren’t going to let him.

When democrats got Greens kicked off the ballot I thought good luck with down ballot D races. Then I thought that it was the plan. Democrats did not want to take the senate because people would expect them to do something big so they did that.

Biden has walked back the tax cuts, doing something better for the ACA and now making excuses. So there will be no chance that Kamala wins in 24 or if she becomes president she won’t stay it.

"I've always assumed they're paid to lose ... The whole thing is a pantomime."

The term "Kabuki" may actually be more descriptive of the process than "Pantomime".

Also, "Harlem Globetrotters vs Washington Generals" captures the flavor of the thing pretty well --

Nixon was mostly horrible by the contemporary standards of liberalism during his presidency bit he didn't obstruct a few decent federal changes. Hillary, imho, is more analogous to Nixon. (Had she remained a Republican and made her own way up the political ladder, she may well have succeeded in becoming the first woman president.) Joe is a lot more like Reagan, but even as he tried, he failed to build a base of Biden Republicans.
