What foreign meddling actually looks like

Three weeks ago it became obvious that Washington's coup strategy in Venezuela wasn't working.
What has happened since then is an arrogant display of imperialism and hubris.

The ABC story suggested a third way, which the paper reported was born out of talks between emissaries of high-ranking Venezuelan officials with opposition leaders, in four countries between April and October this year, after huge rallies demanding Maduro’s exit.

The key figure appears to be Humberto Calderon Berti, then the designated ambassador to Colombia who Guaido dismissed last month. He was the main Guaido negotiator in the talks with the emissaries for Venezuelan officials who defied Maduro.

At some point in the talks, the paper said, Calderon Berti was approached to head a “transitional junta” -- a small group of powerful men who would lead the nation for 18 months. The paper said that an agreement was drafted by August, with the document outlining the political changes to oust Maduro, sideline Guaido and install the junta sent around to the key players.

First of all, why is the word "fix" not in quotes?
Secondly, Humberto Calderon Berti is a CEO of an oil company that was sacked by Guaido while they traded accusations of corruption. The article forgot to mention that.

This next article is even more enlightening.

“White House officials have discussed new approaches including an attempt to partner with Russia, a Maduro ally, to ease out the Venezuelan leader, or raising pressure on Cuba, Maduro’s main sponsor,” the report says...
The White House has rejected suggestions of a power-sharing arrangement between Maduro and Guaido or mediation led by third countries. Trump and his advisers have determined that there is only one credible U.S. approach: more aggressive efforts to pressure Maduro,” according to the report.

Meanwhile, U.S. officials say they remain in contact with some of Maduro’s inner circle, hoping to convince them to switch sides, and more aggressive sanctions are expected thought the details are not yet specified.

There are so many things wrong with this article.
Essentially, we are at war with Venezuela (and Cuba). An illegal, undeclared war in which the Venezuelan people have no say in the form of their government.
But we are the "good guys".

Finally, there was a single sentence in one of these ubiquitous pro-coup articles that I found interesting.

The military stayed loyal. Even the nation’s catastrophic economy began to improve slightly. Maduro remains in power.

Venezuela's economy is growing may be the world's best kept secret.

the 'right way' and not trying to do whatever he wants like he did in Ukraine. Hmm I wonder which one of his backers is insisting that Maduro goes? Or maybe it's just because he wants the oil?

But speaking of the press leaving a few things out or just down right lying to us:

Ever wonder how ISIS gets the brand new Toyotas? I thought maybe they just bought them with all the money they got from Israel after selling them Syria's oil. But no...

IMG_3961.JPG

U.S. counter-terror officials have asked Toyota, the world’s second largest auto maker, to help them determine how ISIS has managed to acquire the large number of Toyota pick-up trucks and SUVs seen prominently in the terror group’s propaganda videos in Iraq, Syria and Libya, ABC News has learned.

Toyota says it does not know how ISIS obtained the vehicles and is “supporting” the inquiry led by the Terror Financing unit of the Treasury Department — part of a broad U.S. effort to prevent Western-made goods from ending up in the hands of the terror group.

The report went on to cite Iraqi Ambassador to the US, Lukman Faily:

“This is a question we’ve been asking our neighbors,” Faily said. “How could these brand new trucks… these four wheel drives, hundreds of them — where are they coming from?”

Not surprisingly, it appears the US Treasury is asking the wrong party. Instead of Toyota, the US Treasury’s inquiry should have started next door at the US State Department. (Quell my surprise)

Mystery Solved

Just last year it was reported that the US State Department had been sending in fleets of specifically Toyota-brand trucks into Syria to whom they claimed was the “Free Syrian Army.
----

It’s fair to say that whatever pipeline the US State Department and the British government used to supply terrorists in Syria with these trucks was likely used to send additional vehicles before and after these reports were made public.

.Not only has the US and British government admitted in the past to supplying them, their military forces and intelligence agencies ply the borders of Turkey, Jordan, and even Iraq where these fleets of trucks must have surely passed on their way to Syria – even if other regional actors supplied them. While previous admissions to supplying the vehicles implicates the West directly, that nothing resembling interdiction operations have been set up along any of these borders implicates the West as complicit with other parties also supplying vehicles to terrorists inside of Syria.

Of course, much of this is not new information. So the question remains – why is the US Treasury just now carrying on with this transparent charade? Perhaps those in Washington believe that if the US government is the one asking this obvious question of how ISIS has managed to field such an impressive mechanized army in the middle of the Syrian desert, no one will suspect they had a role in it.

I have difficulties knowing who is actually who in our foreign armies of misfits. Are the FSA the Kurds or are they some part of Al Qaida or are they the never ending new terrorists that we keep funding and arming? Either way it's a sh*tload of money that surely could be put to better use here. Seems like every damn time congress cuts funding for social programs I find out that they are sending more of it to another country. Notice how none of us gets to vote on whether we want them to or not. I'm sure that somewhere in the oaths they take there is something that says that they are supposed to be looking out for the welfare of we the people. No wonder we can't have nice things...

@snoopydawg They need heavy crude for their refineries. Hugo Chavez started charging them more for it. That was the origin of the coup attempt against Chavez...It has driven US Venezuela policy since.

The article blithely talks about how the first job during the military attack on Venezuela is taking out the economic infrastructure and it goes downhill from there. They really don't give a rat's ass how many people die as long as they can achieve their objectives. Will Americans ever see what it's like when another country wants to wipe out the government? I think eventually this country will be on the receiving end. How many 9/11 have we committed on brown people? How many more are in the works?

by the state department. The terrorist groups constantly morph and change their names for this specific purpose

The White Helmets are the "good" guys and get millions of dollars in funding from the US and European governments.

@CB

Al Qaida are labeled terrorists, but that hasn't stopped us from giving them every damn thing that they need to fight. Of course they are just the current crop of boogie men that threaten our way of life. And pretty much most everyone knows that the white helmets are Al Nursra and just another branch of AQ. But then there's a lot of people who think they are legitimate good guys. And there are plenty of idiotic journalists helping spread the falsehood.

I love tweeting this photo out whenever people talk about the WH.
