Well Kos Pours Gasoline and Lights A Match On His Own Website

It's a spinning piece of vulgarity that basically breaks all his recently stated site rules.

Misleading as to what was actually said and in what context.

What was actually said:

I think the momentum is with us. A lot of these superdelegates may rethink their position with Hillary Clinton. A have not yet declared. And then you have got superdelegates who are in states where we win by 40 or 50 points. I think their own constituents are going to say to them, hey, why don't you support the people of our state, vote for Sanders?

What Kos heard in: No, the superdelegates won't bail out Bernie

The idea that the super delegates will overturn the will of the voters is ludicrous. It was bullshit when Hillary Clinton floated this nonsense in 2008, and it’s bullshit today. As I wrote at the time:

Then the tirade went off the wall.

Sanders has built a very effective campaign by running against the party, even going so far as suing the party. So after trashing it for about a year, why would the party stalwarts who make up the ranks of the super delegates suddenly abandon the winner for him? It defies all comprehension!

Yes the one FDR Democrat running is trying to save his own party is running against it, yeah right

Is the Sanders campaign argument going to be that Southern African-American voters don’t count because they didn’t bother to contest for their votes? Dear god! Do they not realize how ugly that argument is? And while it’s bad enough that Devine is making this argument, it’s even more distressing seeing Sanders himself repeat it.

note that his source doesn't back up his inflammatory bullshit, at all.

the thing with dumb people like Markos is that it's easy for them to come up with unbelievably dumb things. People like that, with head-shaking lack of comprehension, generally take their own motives and ascribe them to others because that's all they can understand. You tell them stuff that's obviously true and it does NOT register.

Hmmm, its in the CNN interview, and yeah kos twisted it beyond recognition, all the way:

TAPPER: What is that path to victory, sir? Because, as you know, you really need to score landslide victory after landslide victory in order to overtake her when it comes to the pledged delegates.

SANDERS: Well, I think there are two aspects to it, Jake.

As you have just indicated, the last five -- we have won the last five out of six contests, all of them in landslide victories. What we have said from day one is, the South is the most conservative part of America. We did not do well there. Secretary Clinton gained a lot of delegates. No debate about that.

We're out of the South. We're heading to the West Coast, which is the most progressive part of America. We think we're going to do very well there. But in addition to that, in terms of superdelegates, a lot of superdelegates have pledged to Secretary Clinton.

But I think when they begin to look at the reality, and that is the we in poll after poll are beating Donald Trump by much larger margins than is Secretary Clinton -- in your own CNN last poll, we were 20 points ahead of him. In the last national poll, we actually beat Secretary Clinton by a point. We started 50 points behind.

I think the momentum is with us. A lot of these superdelegates may rethink their position with Hillary Clinton. A have not yet declared. And then you have got superdelegates who are in states where we win by 40 or 50 points. I think their own constituents are going to say to them, hey, why don't you support the people of our state, vote for Sanders?

anhd just before that:

TAPPER: I want to ask you. Back in 2008, Hillary Clinton touted her support with white voters. This year, you seem to be doing well with that group. Do you agree with Clinton's 2008 assessment that the white working-class is pivotal to Democratic chances in November?

SANDERS: I think every vote is pivotal. We are now winning in state after state the Latino vote. We're doing better now that we're out of the South with the African-American vote. We're doing extraordinarily well with young people.

And we are -- we think we do have a path toward victory.

he should have just said "we are doing better with the AA vote outside of the south," he phrased that poorly and of course people are twisting it to seem like he's happy to be "getting away" from AA voters. he means that AAs outside the south are more open to him, not that they are doing well because they are getting away from "the African American vote". everyone knows that southern dems are much more conservative than most, socially, and fiscally.

bern baby bern disco inberno

Exactly no one except Markos and some of the Hillary stalwarts over there ever took that line; and yet they insisted that it was the argument being made about the vote in the South over and over and over. At first I thought that perhaps he and the others were making an honest error, but after a round with the man himself, I have to believe that it's a deliberate attempt to bury the real issue under such a towering pile of imputed racism cooties that nobody will dare actually look at it.

Or at the very least, that no one will dare admit to having actually looked at it. It's telling, I think, that no one from Team Clinton has made any effort to engage with the actual argument, which of course is that a show of enthusiasm for a candidate in a single region that doesn't reflect the nation overall is a bad gauge with which to measure enthusiasm in the rest of the country -- where, by the way, the general election will for the most part be decided. There may be a good answer to that, one that doesn't unravel their case that the contest to date has shown Clinton as a hugely popular choice for the nomination (just look at how many more votes she has! never mind that all the lead is from a single region); but if there is, it's curious that no one has come forward with it, or even tried.

I never trusted the wanker. I thought he was a good wonky geek libertarian type who had developed a great site for blogging. As far as policy and politics went he sure as hell never impressed me. He went all gung ho for the worst blue dog candidates like the guy who had a chocolate fountain at an early Net Roots Nation wooing the so called 'progressives'. He never cared at all about 'issues'. The use of 'white privilege' as a club to beat back any out break of the 'far lefties' and DFH is disgusting, considering he is living the white privileged dream life in the hills of Berkeley.

He was always in it for the money and being a mover shaker. There were some really good liberal writers there back in the Bushies day. He wasn't quite as mean spirited and nasty as he is now but he hadn't made his pile yet. He's everything that I have come to loath about the Democratic party. I also can't abide the misuse of the word 'progressive'. It's always struck me as a way to get around the word 'liberal' which at the time was a dirty word. As in 'you liberals'.

Anybody who thinks joining the CIA is cool is no one I trust.

It's a club. That's why a Bernie Sanders is shunned. If it was a party, people declaring democrat would be full participants in a party serving their interests. That is not what the reality is. The reality is, you can vote for the candidate of the club's choice. Once elected its time for that person to enrich their friends and loyal supporters. Oh! Membership in that club is coveted! This is what we're up against at TOP. I'm choosing membership in Bernie's "party," because that us what it will actually become - a party serving the people.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy

Haikukitty's picture

I was seconds away from being sucked back into the maelstrom over that stupid Lennon "You say you want a Revolution, count me out" comment from someone below you...

So I'm saying it into the void (or here, not that here is a void...) to get it out of my system:

I think the commentor is missing the point of that song:

You say you want a revolution
Well, you know we all wanna change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know we all wanna change the world

But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know that you can count me out

You say you got a real solution
Well, you know we'd all love to see the plan, oh yeah
You ask me for a contribution
Well, you know we're all doing what we can

But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is, brother, you have to wait

So, its not really anti-revolution, its anti empty talk and violence...

And besides, its not really a revolution so much as reform. We want things to function the way they were designed to function. At least I do. Democracy can work very well when its not corrupted by corporate money. Our system as it was designed could serve the people, once we get all the bought politicians and their buyers out of the system.

That was the last time I'm following links back there... Smile It's so bad for my blood pressure.

The fact that KOS repeated it simply means he's getting the same meme-stream that many of the Hillary supporters are getting. Given how consistently such messaging has been floated and repeated, I'm assuming an orchestrated effort from the campaign.

Surely it isn't any surprise that KOS himself is tightly connected with the campaign?

I can't see a good end for Dkos though. The Sanders supporters are not going to want to have anything to do with the place after the election. This is where Kos has made his big mistake - he's acting as if this is a fight between two establishment approved candidates where there is always a coming together at the end of the primary process. This one runs much deeper than that.

I do have a vision of the last two PUMAs on the site flinging fact free insults at each other until only one remains standing - but that may be wishful thinking Smile

To Markos it all might simply follow logic.

The first and fateful step: for whatever reason, Kos committed himself -- and his site, as much as possible -- to support the establishment candidate for the primary nomination. Everything else follows logically from there.

The incompetence, shamelessness, burying of issues, whoredom, groveling to DNC, DNC as a corporation, establishment errand boy, opportunist, pushing clicks for dollars, and otherwise being a dick, yes, all of these, as required, for the cause.

They are in this to win, no matter what it takes. Integrity, they believe, is for losers.

That means that there is no gap between what you know to be true and what you say. It's one of my tests for a political candidate. Many of us accept intellectual dishonesty because we generally approve of the candidate and "they all do it".

We have extreme examples of this subject in this election year. I've never seen anything like it. Hillary and Markos are birds of a feather when it comes to intellectual dis-honesty. In both cases you feel like you have just been manipulated to the nth degree. He was worth putting up with when the subjects were so black and white, like the war in Iraq. But really, when it comes to the meat and potatoes of Progressive politics, economic justice, both Hillary and Markos are completely out to lunch.

Contrast this to Bernie. You have a lifetime of consistent politics, of saying the same thing, and being right the majority of the time. This is one of the major reasons that Hillary can't close the perception gap with Bernie by acting a bit more Liberal. (I can't use the term Progressive and Hillary in the same sentence.) Again, it's intellectual honesty. When she responded in one of the debates that she considers herself a Progressive, I almost puked all over the TV. I feel the same about Markos when he claims the he speaks for the Progressive community.

My opinion is that Markos is all about "access". This is what drives the MSM, and I have that from a direct source. Markos is saying in effect that he represents the Progressive community and that he can deliver them to Hillary. In return he expects access and respect from the Clinton administration. Q: When are you going to clean up your site? A: March 15.
