UK Labour continues to gain momentum

It's only been a few days since the UK election, but the seismic shift in the political establishment is gaining pace.

Labour has reportedly gained 150,000 new members after Jeremy Corbyn’s party made historic gains in the general election.
Membership soared following Friday’s result, according to Labour MP Richard Burgon, which saw Theresa May’s Conservatives fail to win an outright Commons majority.

To put this into perspective, total Conservative Party membership was 150,000 just six months ago.

That isn't the only change in the past couple days. Popular opinion of Labour has shifted dramatically as well.

Mr Corbyn’s party is now polling at 45 per cent, six points ahead of the Tories who are lagging behind on 39 per cent.
The Survation poll, conducted for the Mail on Sunday, shows a swing of eight points in Labour’s favour since the general election on 8 June.

Popular opinion of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has shifted dramatically too.

Jeremy Corbyn has drawn level with Theresa May in a poll asking who would be the best Prime Minister.
Both party leaders scored 39 per cent after a swing of 11 points in Mr Corbyn's favour in the days since since 7 June.
The poll, conducted by YouGov for The Sunday Times, shows the Labour leader obliterating the 39-point lead Ms May had on the same question when she called the general election.

These polls matter because the Tory's coalition with the D.U.P. is doomed to fail sooner or later, which will trigger another election.

"You can't just leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution."---Tyree Scott

@Steven D cutting deals

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May dramatically promoted one prominent pro-Brexit minister and reappointed a second to her cabinet as she prepared to face furious Tory lawmakers in a showdown that could end her premiership.

May surprisingly named Michael Gove, who unsuccessfully ran against her for the party leadership last year and whom she then fired from the Ministry of Justice, as her new environment secretary. She also promoted another unsuccessful pro-Brexit leadership challenger, Andrea Leadsom, from the environment job to leader of the House of Commons, responsible for steering legislation through Parliament.

I want a Pony!

They used all their best smears for many months and it failed

Now people are wise to their game so they have to get even better smears

Maybe, just maybe, the media will realize that they have lost credibility

Maybe, just maybe, politicians will realize that people know that they work for the rich

I guess that the hard core neo liberals don't have a moral problem with what they do so only pressure from the people will make a difference

And it looks like it is growing

"Straight from the horses mouth Jeremy Corbyn has said he could be the next Prime Minister.

One MP has said that Mrs May is a dead woman walking. She is desperately trying to get the DUP to support her in the Queens speech which Mr Corbyn has said he will oppose. The DUP will not support austerity measures. So the Tory manifesto may be torn up.

Already rumblings of a leadership challenge it only takes 48 signatures to set this in motion. Could happen very soon or how long she can hang on with a minority government."

We caught up with a cast of political protagonists from UKIP’s Nigel Farage to the boss of Britain’s biggest union, Len McCluskey, as well as Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, David Cameron’s former Director of Communications & comedian Tom Walker aka Jonathan Pie.

A 'soft Brexit' would seem to be the way forward, but she doubles down, promoting loons like Gove.

Probably all moot as the co-habitation with the DUP is deeply unpopular.

It's all about her and her sorry need for power. Reminds me of someone.

two vicious, greedy, power-mad harridans came from, but it's the same place old Margaret Thatcher and that vile wench Madeleine Albright sleazed out from as well.

I do know where they belong:

Ninth Circle (Treachery)

The last Ninth Circle of Hell is divided into 4 Rounds according to the seriousness of the sin though all residents are frozen in an icy lake. Those who committed more severe sin are deeper within the ice. Each of the 4 Rounds is named after an individual who personifies the sin. Thus Round 1 is named Caina after Cain who killed his brother Abel, Round 2 is named Antenora after Anthenor of Troy who was Priam’s counselor during the Trojan War, Round 3 is named Ptolomaea after Ptolemy (son of Abubus), while Round 4 is named Judecca after Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus with a kiss.

EDIT: am babysitting an obnoxious dog while the owner is at work and workmen are here remodelling her place. This damn animal barks at EVERYTHING and if it gets too upset it's little snowflake ass will barf and have a freaking nervous breakdown. If I paid $1600 for a damn dog and got this nervous wreck I'd be demanding my money back.

So beware. I will be making typos. Probably lots of them.

Maybe not.
How about we call for snap elections instead of those that start at the end of an election? How about being able register for election on the day of such election? Paper ballots that can be counted? Etc.
Let me just cut to the chase. Our current system is filled with ways to insure it's a total pain in the ass and corruptible.
And they hate us for our freedoms?
Give me a fucking break.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.

@Pricknick
I don't want someone who truly doesn't know if he cares to vote at the last minute because of a cute ad or someone screaming "Russia!" or "terrorists".

I've never lived anywhere where it was difficult to register and it's one of the first things I do when I move. If there are places where it's difficult, by all means let's change the rules to make it easy. But I oppose changing the rules for the lazy and ignorant. Goes double for internet registration. I don't need 600 million sock puppets determining the vote.

If you have a driver's license or state ID you can register. It's getting those that are hard since the "Patriot" Act.

of their voting rights by bullshit like party-switching, purging off the registry, and all the nasty shenanigans that were reported from the Democratic primaries.

What is actually necessary is same-day RE-registration when (not if, WHEN) shit like that happens.

There were several people right here on C99 who were defrauded of their voting rights because they "couldn't be trusted" to Vote Only For The Queen.

@The Voice In the Wilderness

Just wondering if any countries other than America typically require people to register as belonging to any specific political party in order to vote as best suits them in any of a number of various elections in a number of areas? Does anyone know of any others? It seems so bizarrely undemocratic to me and, as well, negates the concept of the 'secret ballot' right off the hop.

whose name was Jeremy. And he cried aloud in the wilderness, and said, Behold, I bring you hope.
And it came to pass, in the land of Britain, that the High Priestess went unto the people and said, Behold, I bring ye tidings of great joy. For on the eighth day of the sixth month there shall be a general election.

And the people said, Not another one.

And they waxed wroth against the High Priestess and said, Didst thou not sware, even unto seven times, that thou wouldst not call a snap election?

And there came from the temple pollsters, who said, Surely this woman will flourish. For her enemy is as grass; she cutteth him down. He is as straw in the wind, and he will blow away. And the trumpet of her triumph shall sound in all the land.

And the High Priestess said, Piece of cake.
