It Might fit.

This global-capitalist-manufactured “reality” is a depoliticized, ahistorical “reality,” which forms an invisible ideological boundary establishing the limits of what is “real.” In this way, global capitalism (a) conceals its ideological nature, and (b) renders any and all ideological opposition automatically illegitimate, or, more accurately, non-existent. Ideology as we knew it disappears. Political, ethical, and moral arguments are reduced to the question of what is “real” or “factual,” which the GloboCap “experts” and “fact checkers” dictate.

Check the first two installments he links to as well. Kinda time lapse, if you will.

Now, some will say systems don’t exist, so what are we talking about?
Others will say if you can’t see the difference, you have no empathy, or your priorities are deranged(paraphrasing, of course).

Still others might go all ‘hair On fire’ in reactive dis/agreement.

I think we are basically fucked all around.

Somebody want to prove me wrong?

with the current "New Normal" as a “global totalitarian ideological movement”. Techniques such as those used by Scientology: 'Ethics', 'Suppressives', 'Disconnection' and 'Fair Game' to manipulate peoples beliefs and thought processes have been found to be very effective.

Aside: Brings back old memories battling Scientology on alt.religion.scientology back in '91. For those that missed the action - Scientology and the Internet. The Xenu revelation and web sites such as Operation Clambake spelled the beginning of the demise of Scientogy. But it was the unfortunate death of Lisa McPherson at the hands of the Scientologist's that pretty much spelled the downfall of the cult.

From your link:

There is reality (whatever you believe it is), and there is “reality,” which dictates how our societies function. “Reality” is constructed (i.e., simulated), collectively, according to the ideology of whatever system controls society. In the past, “reality” was openly ideological, regardless of which “reality” you lived in, because there were other competing “realities” out there. There aren’t anymore. There is only the one “reality,” because the entire planet — yes, including China, Russia, North Korea, and wherever — is controlled by one globally hegemonic system.

Gaslighting: The Psychology of Shaping Another’s Reality

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”

– Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”

We are living in a world where the degree of disinformation and outright lying has reached such a state of affairs that, possibly for the first time ever, we see the majority of the western world starting to question their own and surrounding level of sanity. The increasing frenzied distrust in everything “authoritative” mixed with the desperate incredulity that “everybody couldn’t possibly be in on it!” is slowly rocking many back and forth into a tighter and tighter straight jacket. “Question everything” has become the new motto, but are we capable of answering those questions?

Presently the answer is a resounding no.
...
The Battle for Your Mind

“Politicians, Priests, and psychiatrists often face the same problem: how to find the most rapid and permanent means of changing a man’s belief…The problem of the doctor and his nervously ill patient, and that of the religious leader who sets out to gain and hold new converts, has now become the problem of whole groups of nations, who wish not only to confirm certain political beliefs within their boundaries, but to proselytize the outside world.”

– William Sargant “Battle of the Mind”

It had been commonly thought in the past, and not without basis, that tyranny could only exist on the condition that the people were kept illiterate and ignorant of their oppression. To recognise that one was “oppressed” meant they must first have an idea of what was “freedom”, and if one were allowed the “privilege” to learn how to read, this discovery was inevitable.

If education of the masses could turn the majority of a population literate, it was thought that the higher ideas, the sort of “dangerous ideas” that Mustapha Mond for instance expresses in “The Brave New World”, would quickly organise the masses and revolution against their “controllers” would be inevitable. In other words, knowledge is freedom, and you cannot enslave those who learn how to “think”.

However, it hasn’t exactly played out that way has it?
...
Sargant goes on to state in his book:

“It is not surprising that the ordinary person, in general, is much more easily indoctrinated than the abnormal. A person is considered ‘ordinary’ or ‘normal’ by the community simply because he accepts most of its social standards and behavioural patterns; which means, in fact, that he is susceptible to suggestion and has been persuaded to go with the majority on most ordinary or extraordinary occasions.”
...
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone,
“it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”
“The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”
“The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master – – that’s all.”

Thank you for posting this essay about how to fight the gathering darkness. Rather than banging one’s head at the brick wall that I call Message Board Science, it addresses us iconoclasts directly with a suggested way out of the lonely frustration of life in the New Normal.

I have called this cult Team Lockdown and Team Spikemall, mainly pissing people off and earning the enmity of many earnest folks who put their heart and soul into evaluating “sources,” studying peer reviewed research and coming to “evidence based” conclusions. The linked essay solves this problem -- quit worrying about it an poke the fuckers with a stick whenever you can.

.

Masters of the Covid Cult follow one rhetorical strategy with a religious fervor – always put the burden of proof on the doubter. Can you prove that masks don’t work? Then shut up. Can you prove that social distancing does not save lives? Then quit trying to kill people by urging them to get Covid. Can you prove that the vaccines don’t work? Then you must be silenced from making the claim!

And my favorite version of this exercise of assuming one’s own conclusion is the formulation that it is ok to avoid the vaccine provided you have a good enough excuse.

These largely bright and educated souls are nevertheless oblivious to the tautological nature of their Message Board Science. In the essay I was cogitating before reading this offering I was going to assert that Science has replaced Religion in the hearts and minds of the educated and enlightened segments of our culture.

Just a couple of days ago I had a phone conversation with my brother who sheepishly asked me if I had gotten vaccinated yet. I told him no and he was about ready to cry as I had just told him that I was going to get sick and die. No if ands or buts. No vaccine – certain death.

Of course most cultists are a little more sophisticated than my 78 year old brother, but not by much. They go to so much trouble to find the correct science and scorn the incorrect science, I can see clearly why it pisses them off so much to run into somebody like me who says this shit is FAR simpler than Message Board Science will acknowledge.

I explained to my brother that the threat of the virus itself is preposterously out of whack with the hype. 88% of our country has not tested positive over a year and a half of constant headlines about the disaster. It is hard to find how many hospitalizations there have been, but the death toll is now closing in on a milestone – two tenths of one percent.

99.8% have not died from Covid. As of mid August, in spite of all the Delta Variant Fear Porn you hear that show more young people getting infected, the fatalities still skew very heavily to the elderly. Well over half the victims have been over 75 years old, and 79 percent were over 65.

If you get into the weeds of those official numbers, you find that they are almost certainly ridiculously inflated, but that is just gravy on the original argument. It is not “science” to determine how serious the society should take the loss of life we have experienced due to the virus. It is a political question. As the essay points out, that is how the new totalitarianism works. Convert all political questions into epistemological gridlock.

That assessment pisses off the cultists more than anything else. Their response to the idea that humans are social animals and denying us the ability to relate to each other is a serious cost of the policy – THAT IS JUST GREEDY BILLIONAIRES WHO WOULD RATHER KILL THEIR EMPLOYEES THAN LOSE A PENNY OF PROFIT TO DOWN TIME.

In my phone call with my brother, he threw his own unsophisticated version of “science” back at me -- “Unvaccinated people are 30 times more likely to die of Covid than vaccinated people.” Maybe so, but that does not make the overall number of fatalities go up!!!! We are talking about a tiny chance of serious illness or death versus an unknown chance of the vaccine showing long term side effects. My brother reacted like he was talking to a Jehovah’s Witness.

I saw all of the restrictions as political actions rather than “scientific truth” from the very start. Living in California, I saw Gavin Newsom on TV explaining the original lockdown rules a year and a half ago, and I yelled at the TV set, “That’s not going to work!”

But before he was done talking he said, “We’re not saying you can’t go to the grocery store. We’re not saying you can’t walk your dog.” So what the crap was he saying? As some Cultists have accurately pointed out, it really isn’t a lockdown if people are still keeping the population alive and comfortable. It is not easy to find a published statistic on how many “essential workers” there are – people who kept working on assembly lines and processing plants. I believe it is somewhere around half the work force.

The Covid Cult never accepts responsibility for bad news. It is always the “fault” of some human being or human beings when somebody dies – some failure to follow the Cult’s Iron Clad Rules is responsible for every failure. It cannot be that the rules themselves fail. Science cannot fail.

The Cult ignores that those Iron Clad Rules were a set of politically concocted measures taken by a chaotic mix of government officials, health care bureaucrats and corporate interests. Huge problem for the Cult here as criticism of the individual failures is a vital part of the Cult’s theology. Science is always right. People are fallible. But Science did not take any stand on any of this because Science is not a single thing with a single voice.

Unlike God.

How high is up? How many Covid deaths are too many to “allow” without shutting down civilization? That profoundly political question has been banished by the Cult Mentality. Like somebody on this board said more than a year ago, “Zero deaths are acceptable.”

Yes, you can easily make your opponents into murderers with the religious rhetoric of The Covid Cult.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, CIA Director (first staff meeting, 1981)

Who is driving the narratives today, and to what end? What we take as ‘truth’ today depends more on where we look for it than it does on any semblance of verifiable reality.

@ovals49 they got hysterical over the death toll in Italy.
First sign something fishy was up as I posted here.
They have a huge propaganda nedia roll out "take the vaccine".
They brainwash the public into equating Ivermectin with a horse drug the way they equated WMDs with Iraq. When you need a tranquilizer do you take a horse tranquilizer? No. You take a dosage meant for humans.
So they want us to take the vaccine.
They Really, REALLY want to scare us into taking the vaccine.
Why?

Little vague on the how tho. Here’s a companion piece that goes with it.

Into the void between our scientific knowledge and our fear of mortality has rushed politics. It is a refusal to admit that “the science” is necessarily compromised by political and commercial considerations that has led to an increasingly polarised – and unreasonable – confrontation between what have become two sides of the Covid divide. Doubt and curiosity have been squeezed out by the bogus certainties of each faction.
….
Then there is this. The Guardian reports that the JCVI was concerned about “the unknown longer-term consequences of a rare side-effect [myocarditis – heart inflammation] seen with mRNA vaccines such as the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna shots. … What makes the JCVI uneasy is that there is little long-term follow-up on vaccinated children.”

“Unknown longer-term consequences”? A lack of “follow-up” on vaccinated children? These sound more like the criticisms of the tin-foil hat-wearers than the cautious advice of vaccination experts.

One thing I read is that the 'anti vaxxers' are not imbeciles or Trump-ers, but some of the most informed because they have done lots of research. Not to say that the pro vaxxers haven’t, but they aren’t normally called derisive names.

The JCVI is Britain’s FDA I think and it put vaccines on hold for the younger folks and the government is not happy. The Biden administration is not happy with the FDA because they are recommending to hold off on boosters for now and get more of the world vaccinated to stop the variants. That’s why people just quit from my understanding. I could be wrong tho.

Interestingly enough in the Hill video in the article they can’t say ‘ivermectin' because of YouTube censorship. If you close down debate on something because you don’t want people doing something it just makes people more curious and questioning why you can’t talk about it.

I have not been silenced a doctor’s lament about the sorry state of affairs.

The main reason for prolonged silence, and introspection, is that I am not sure I can find the truth. I do not know if it can be found anymore. Today I am unsure what represents a fact, and what has simply been made up. A sad and scary state of affairs.

Anyway, faced with a situation where there are almost no facts that can be relied upon, from anywhere, I have officially removed myself from all discussions on the matter of COVID19.

Instead, I shall return to other areas where, whilst the truth is constantly battered and bruised, and lying in a bruised heap the corner, it is still breathing … just about alive. Sometimes it is capable of weakly raising its head and whispering quietly into my ear. I shall let you know what it says.

At first I did not like the doctor writing, but as I read carefully through his statement, the questions and possibilities he poses are what should be asked by all of us.

An excellent essay by Dr. Kendrick - UK

Embedded within the essay is another excellent link which leads to the European death rates plotted against the normal expected rates for Europe as a whole and for member states with a few exceptions. It is interactive and goes back to late 2016.

Lockdowns killed more Canadians under 65 than COVID-19: Statscan

The consequences of government-enforced lockdowns killed more Canadians under the age of 65 than the COVID-19 virus itself, according to a report by Statistics Canada.

In a report titled Provisional death counts and excess mortality, the government agency reviewed the number of deaths between January 2020 to April 2021 and concluded that 5,535 Canadians under the age of 65 died because of “indirect consequences” due to the pandemic.

Over the same time period, 1380 Canadians in the same age group died because of COVID-19 itself.

“Beyond deaths attributed to the disease itself, the pandemic could also have indirect consequences leading to an increase or decrease in the number of deaths due to various factors, including delayed medical procedures, increased substance use, or a decline in deaths attributable to other causes, such as influenza,” the report says.

Statistics Canada acknowledged lockdowns had a significant impact on the number of deaths in Canada, particularly among younger people.

“Excess mortality is, in large part, related to other factors such as increases in the number deaths attributed to causes associated with substance use and misuse, including unintentional (accidental) poisonings and diseases and conditions related to alcohol consumption,” read the report.

@Battle of Blair Mountain just a quick check on demographics turns this up:
Northern Ireland has a higher % of children 14 and under than the UK and a lower % of elderly 60+ than the UK.
Northern Ireland is 98.28% white. UK is 86.32% white.
Need to look into death by age and death by race to see where UK's spike came from.

@Battle of Blair Mountain looking into etnicity data, despite claims that blacks were "2.5 times more likely to die" in reality there is no evidence covid is singling out any ethnic groups.
I had expected to find something there. I did not.
So that leaves the age factor. 19.8% of N Ire are 60+. 22.6% of UK are. That's a 14.1% increase in elderly.

@Battle of Blair Mountain looking at death by age data. (Posted this and lost connection. Post disappeared).
All stats age 60+.
Uk deaths 0.513%
N.Ireland deaths 0.714%
Reason that graph looks so flat: 2263 deaths are a blip at that scale. 73,000 deaths are a spike.
Increase scale to show deaths by 10's of people and you will see your spike.
