Trump moves to protect illegal immigrants from deportation

Yes, you read that right. Trump loves them illegals!
At least those from Venezuela.

The White House is on the verge of taking steps to protect thousands of Venezuelans living in the United States from deportation, even as it finds new ways to restrict the ability of asylum-seekers from other countries to claim refuge in the U.S.

The proposal was confirmed by a senior administration official and other U.S. officials familiar with the matter, and it could include work permits. It is controversial inside the Trump administration, which has sought to restrict immigration, and could provoke a backlash from some of Trump's allies. But the administration says it does not want to put Venezuelans in danger.

"We're committed to ensure that no Venezuelan is sent back to a situation where they'll be persecuted by the government of Venezuela or by the dictatorship that is usurping democracy in Venezuela," a senior administration official told NPR and other news outlets Friday.
...The proposals to protect Venezuelans come as the Trump administration is trying to end temporary protected status for numerous countries, including El Salvador, Haiti and Sudan, under pressure from conservatives.

Do I even need to point out the hypocrisy?

Trump is looking at changing his Venezuela policy in another important way that will be far more important if it happens.

Donald Trump is serious about a possible U.S. blockade of Venezuela, a senior administration official said Friday, saying that the country’s president Nicolas Maduro has a short window to voluntarily leave power.

Trump told reporters on Thursday that he was considering a blockade or quarantine of the Latin American country, where the U.S. has been trying for months to unseat Maduro. He didn’t elaborate.

But the official said Trump’s statement should be taken seriously and is the direction U.S. policy is headed with regard to Venezuela. The official asked not to be identified as a condition of participation in a briefing for reporters.

How can this be justified as anything other than Yanqui Imperialism?

Personally, I think the jig is up. They're just holding America up long enough for all the rats to jump ship and all the gold to be repatriated (good luck, kids).

Who won't we be quarantining or blockading (being blockaded?)? No leverage, no enforcement, no partners. Looking good, Drumpfie Boy.

@k9disc They want Maduro gone--bad example for the Sud Americanos, to see socialism survive in VZ if it weren't for El Trumpo.

@k9disc

This country is being stripped of its assets and more corporations are off shoring their factories or just closing them down. The retail apocalypse is almost over and workers and retirees are being stripped of their pensions and health insurance. But the person who ran the companies into the ground gets huge payouts before the workers get anything.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

This is what we have been told long before Trump decided that Madura needs to step down and let Guaido be the president even though he never ran for it.

But which country is destroying people's rights? Venezuela or the USA?

"You have no rights." And for people who live within 100 miles from the border they don't have rights. Journalists who have been covering the immigration issues at the border are being harassed every time they go through border checkpoints. Their computers and cellphones are taken from them and if they refuse to open them up for the border patrol goons they are held as long as possible. People who have to pass through the border daily are hassled every time coming and going.

Whilst the military has been busy bringing freedoms and democracy to other parts of the world we have been losing ours. Go to any public gathering and you go through metal detectors and have your bags inspected. No probable cause or search warrants. But yeah, it's all those other countries that are being oppressed. And usually by the people we installed after overthrowing the legitimate governments.
