A 'Top-Tiered' candidate is imploding

It appears what was once the leading identity politics candidate has run into problems.

Kamala Harris is dramatically restructuring her campaign by redeploying staffers to Iowa and laying off dozens of aides at her Baltimore headquarters, according to campaign sources and a memo obtained by POLITICO Wednesday, as she struggles to resuscitate her beleaguered presidential bid.

The moves come as Harris is hemorrhaging cash and in danger of lacking the resources to mount a competitive bid against better-funded rivals in Iowa. The overhaul will touch nearly every facet of Harris’ operation, with layoffs or re-deployments coming at headquarters, as well as in New Hampshire, Nevada and her home state of California, a Super Tuesday prize that her advisers once viewed as a big asset.

Such a shame. I may even shed a tear over it.
It looks like Kamala had a glass jaw. Tulsi punched her just once and she was done.
Speaking of that, check out this national poll.

Don't worry about Kamala, because it's all your fault.
By your fault, I mean the voters have failed Kamala.

@gjohnsit @gjohnsit Turn about is fair play. Kamala fucked Willie Brown and the poor blacks to get ahead. Tulsi has deflated the hypocrite's bullshit bubble.

Me, color me happy.

Tulsi was just repeating Russian talking points don't you know? And every single thing that she said about Kamillary have been debunked. Prison slave labor? "No she didn't!" Lock up delinquent kid's parents? "No she didn't!" Keep a guy in prison after the judge ordered him released? "No she...'" Kamillary was an attorney general? "No....!"
The people who are supporting her is very surprising because they are were or used to be against everything Harris stands for.

Great job, Tulsi. Warren is next.

works if your record is something to be proud of. Otherwise you spend all your time explaining that the facts aren't what they seem. She would have been a great mid 90's candidate, nailing those thugs and super predators. Today, not so much.

Samantha Bee has previously "invited" Tulsi and Marianne Williamson to drop out on her show. Wonder when Kamala gets her invite? Or is that only for candidates that don't kowtow to the interests of the rich and famous.

She is the most surprising person who is supporting Kamillary and I just don't get it. Kamillary locked up blacks and poor people and let the rich and famous get away with so many things. Everything she says she is against. Mnunchin for example. Her office had an air tight case against his bank for what it did to people whose houses were under water and her staff was very upset when she didn't pursue it. How does one square what she did in their heads. Oh yeah.. not following a judge's order to let people out of prison for over crowding because she wanted to use them for fighting fires and other low paying positions. And DoV has taken her roving band of HRing to Twitter and gets people kicked off it if she disagrees with them. She brags about that. Ugh.

Look at countries wherein people vote based upon ethnic or religious affiliation. The various factions each become dominated by wealthy elites, who end up having more in common with each other than they do with their fellow-identity constituents.

People naively vote for these clowns because "Schmo will be good for us, and have our backs", yet Schmo will invariably protect his class and their interests, and only toss a few patronage bones or two to the proles in his identity group.

A class conscious electorate won't play identity politics.

This article is a great read. It should be called how KamalaCare is privatized Medicare. There are enough threats to Medicare from both parties and her plan would ring the death knell for it.

Kamala Harris has long claimed to be a supporter of Medicare for All. But the rollout of her new health-care plan finally gives us clarity: she will fight on behalf of insurance companies, not against them.

Kamala Harris has long said she supports Medicare for All. It’s now clearer than ever that she really wants anything but.

Her new health-care plan — which steals the name of Bernie Sanders’s popular single-payer bill despite looking nothing like it — is a slap in the face to single-payer supporters. Phased in over ten years, the plan ultimately expands the role of private insurers in Medicare by massively increasing the number of private Medicare Advantage plans sold.

In her Medium post about the proposal, Harris describes the US health-care system as a “patchwork of plans, providers and costs that have left people frustrated” and says we need to “finally fix this broken system for good.” But her plan — KamalaCare, for lack of a better name — does no such thing. Instead, it reinforces our patchwork system by ensuring private plans can operate within and around Medicare in perpetuity.

It's the job of congress to keep the parasitical insurance companies installed as the roadblock to people's health and wellbeing. Insurance companies get to decide who lives or dies in this country. So do the drug companies that put drugs like insulin and others out of reach for many that rely on them. I'd say that callous indifference to people's lives and should be prosecuted as such.

Harris says keeping private insurers involved in Medicare is what the public wants. She points to Medicare’s enduring popularity in her Medium post, while her team (with help from centrist think tank Center for American Progress) has taken to Twitter to argue that private insurers’ role in Medicare is part of what makes the program so popular. This is, of course, disingenuous. Medicare is popular because everyone gets it, not because its recipients are forced to spend their social security checks on supplemental private plans.

MFA would give people the biggest pay raise in history, but not as long as congress has a say about it. Why we keep letting insane people rule us is something I've been trying to figure out. The psychopaths in charge of us are willing to let millions of us die so that a few people can make obscene amounts of money. Scratching my head!

Too many people have told me, "Kamala, don't take away my choice."

Sure, that happened. Several of these people is the boyfriend she met over the summer. You all woudn't know him. He lives by Canada. But he's real!

People are just paying more attention now and anyone with even a modicum of intuition smells Hillary and the DNC all over Kamala. Plus she has a rather strong talent of distorting her own record and apparently thinking no one will notice!

As thrilling as it is to see her Potemkin campaign and all of the hostile shallowness that it stands for deteriorate, if she drops out all of her support inures to the benefit of more formidable enemies Warren, Biden, and Sneaky Pete. I have to start thinking of Kamala Harris as a "third party spoiler" for neolibs and hope that she stays around 5% or better yet 7% until the other neoliberal trash-frauds drop out.

And come the California primary on Super Tuesday, March 3, 2020, we'll have a pretty good handle on whether or not Bernie has a path to the nomination. So for the time being, I'm quite happy with her flailing about.

@PennBrian when her support began to drop, I said she would not recover. She hasn't recovered, she won't recover, she is done. Not even good now as a VP consideration. There's just no there there to her candidacy beyond bare IdPol. Scratch the surface, as Tulsi began to do in one debate, and she has nothing and further reveals herself as a rather nasty and not particularly clever or smart Dem pol with a reflexive prosecutorial mindset better suited to the third way Dem politics of the 90s.

Actually she has damaged her political standing and popularity in CA with her awful meaningless presidential campaign, and many who had positive vibes about her, largely for superficial reasons, now see the real Kamala Harris who gives out negative vibes. She has work to do, outside of presidential campaigning, to restore herself politically in CA if she wants to avoid facing a strong primary challenger next time, possibly from the progressive left.

Wouldn't surprise me if she drops out after NH. Why stay in, presumably after she does poorly in IA and NH, to take further drubbings and to be greatly embarrassed on Super Tues in her home state?

Her dwindling support, 5% or so, would go largely to Warren and Mayor Pete.

. . . if she doesn't run in her home state. She's stuck in her own muck. Nyuk-nyuk-nyuk.

And don't be so sure all of her votes will go the way you suppose.

If Peter Daou, the co-founder of Men for Hillary, can become a strident Berner (as it seems he genuinely has, albeit not a Bernie or Buster), then anything can happen.

@Wally and as things seem to be shaping up, she leaves the race well before CA and Super Tuesday b/c a) she runs out of money, b) she is getting zero attention in the MSM except in highly unflattering ways, and c) each primary contest where she shows poorly with voters chips away at her political standing.

The kooda grass would be to stay in to take a huge and publicly embarrassing -- no, Humiliating -- drubbing in her own home state, which would greatly diminish her political mojo and put in jeopardy her re-elect chances in 2022. Far better to avoid the humiliation and quietly drop out weeks before, in a late Friday news dump period when few are paying attention.

In news today, her campaign announced they were closing all their NH offices except one bare-bones one. Looks like she is hoping for some miracle to happen in IA to keep her campaign afloat. Latest poll has her at 3% there -- below Klobbachair and even with Yang. No miracle will happen of course. She is currently just trying to avoid the major embarrassment of having to drop out months before the voting starts.
