Just experimenting with the "open thread" concept.
This one is meant to post the odd thing... it can be fun, insane, puzzling. It can be "what the fuck" that's fabulous! or terrible enough to make you cry. or funny even though we shouldn't be laughing. it can be anything that's . . . just a bit off.
Like this wonderful WTF, a story of a 5-year-old girl and her duck. Enjoy:

but, not satisfied with feel-good, here's a face-palmer:
A republican lawmaker under fire for billing taxpayers for a trip to Oklahoma for a so-called “Jesus shot” from an Oklahoma City man who calls himself “Dr. Mike.”

That touched my heart!
What a beautiful story. I'm typing and laughing and crying at the same time. WTF? Who can do that? LOL!
"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11
exactly why I posted it:
WTF, who can do that? and the reporter could hardly conduct the interview he was laughing and really charmed by the whole thing.
i love ducks, btw...

Japan's scarecrow village.
Time stands still in Japan's village of scarecrows
"Scarecrows pose in houses, fields, trees, streets, and at a crowded bus stop - where they wait
for a bus that never comes.
...
At 65, Ayano is among the youngest residents of Nagoro. The village school was shut in 2012 after
its two pupils graduated.
...
But the building is now occupied by Ayano's scarecrows: students at their desks and in corridors,
a teacher by the blackboard, while a suit-wearing school principal looks on."
Solidarity
eerie, right? but fascinating.
a ghost town full of dolls. wow.

Joke of the Day
because we can't spend aaaaaaaaaallllllllllll of our time rending our garments and gnashing our teeth.
A cowboy rides in off the range and pulls up in front of the saloon. He hops off his horse, walks around to the back end of the horse and plants a big kiss on the horse's asshole. Up on the sidewalk, an old sourdough sees this and calls the cowboy over.
"Hey podnah, whad ya do that fer?" asks the sourdough.
"I got chapped lips." says the cowboy.
The sourdough scratches his beard, looks off, then back to the cowboy.
"Ya know, I been 'round these parts a mighty long time, an' I know lots of strange Injun remedies. I ain't never heard of that one. Does it work?"
"I don't know," says the cowboy, "but I don't lick my lips much."
