Time To Map Out Plan B. #BernieOrBust (Updated)

President Sanders is Plan A. I am not giving up on Bernie. Will vote for him next week here in CT.

But realistically, his chances are getting long, especially with the Clinton Crime Machine engineering the primaries and presumably the convention as well. 126,000 voters purged from the rolls in Brooklyn. Oh c'mon, it is no coincidence that Taint Follows Hellery where ever she goes. What other districts were engineered I wonder? But don't worry. Mayor de Blasio (a Clinton endorser) said there will be an "investigation". Holding my breath in 3.2.1...

Anyway, Bernie will have a tough time with any of these closed primaries. Independents can't vote. Independents are his real strength and it's 40% of US voters. Think about it. Bernie has about half of registered Dem voters. If you add Independents to that, Bernie supporters could crush either of the two Neo-liberal parties (Dems, Repubs) in the general election.

But Bernie will not run as an Independent. He said publicly that he will support the ultimate Dem nominee. And we know he is a man of his word. And I will never vote for Hellery.

So to finally destroy both of the Neo-liberal parties, the Revolution needs to prepare itself to walk away. The Green party is the obvious choice. But I'm open to other suggestions.

Forget Trump
I know some will say vote Trump. But he really is the sociopath that you see. And he could care less about the working class.
Read this (Vice 2014) before you mistakenly vote for Trump.

Should the Revolution walk away from the Dem Party after the convention? I know what my answer is.

Bernie is using the Dem election machine to run his campaign. It allows him to get his message out much more efficiently than if he ran as a third party candidate. It has built-in fundraising infrastructure, etc. That all helps build the Revolution.

He's walking a tightrope. Any tiny thing he does/says gets used against him. If he endorsed the Greens that is all you would hear about him from now til November. There's plenty of time after the convention to talk freely.

with this much:

He's walking a tightrope. Any tiny thing he does/says gets used against him.

And there's a point where that isn't as important as advancing this movement. Now, I do think that Sanders should endorse the Dems unless--unless--he's asked by the Greens to become their standard bearer. But, that should only happen if it has a realistic chance of making the ballot in all fifty states on such short notice.

Beyond that, he needs to "strike while the iron is hot" in regard to discussion and continuing #NotMeUs and building consensus. He owes no one any real loyalty beyond that other than people who have truly supported him, IMO. Remember, he used the machine because he could. He's earned the right to do it, because he's given to that party--he's voted with Dems and caucused with Dems for years now. And until recently--before the words after his name said "Democratic Candidate for President"--his name read on the telly and newspapers and such as "Senator Bernie Sanders, I--VERMONT".

The I is for Independent, and that does not mean "Independent Party". He can do what he damned well pleases at this point and he has very, very little to lose, politically, at this point in his career. I hope like hell, if he can't manage to out-finesse the crooked machine that some really shitty "Democrats" built and wrest the nomination from that vile competitor of his, that he goes all in with the Greens. We have to have another party, and they do have an infrastructure in place already. It is long past time.

A Progressive People's Party... We cannot fix the Democratic party... it is too damaged.

IF we could pull it together and create an alliance with all of the little parties... like the Greens, the Democratic Socialists, and all of the others PLUS attract the Independents....we might just really have something.

Money--OUT of the process.
The Electoral College needs revamped as does the "primary" process

The Bill of Rights and the Constitution are just fine. The former needs to be respected if not enforced more firmly; the latter needs simply to reflect that CORPORATIONS ARE THINGS NOT PEOPLE.

That's really all, IMO--everything else rather flows from these points, doesn't it?

I think the 3/5s crap is already gone, unless you're not referring to slavery. There's an amendment somewhere that takes care of that bit (surely I'm missing something there, but I know you'll tell me what it is Smile )

A new party will just compete in a rigged, corrupt and totally inadequate system that does not represent democracy. It's time to completely revamp the notion that 330 million people can be represented by 535 politicians, no matter what party. It's time to seek real democracy.

a more inclusive, participatory system possibly the early Greek system or hybrids of direct democracy models. We could implement a national referendum system like we have in about half the states to allow the people to vote on whether to go to war, etc. We need more and something that can avoid rule by the rich.

The bottom line like I said above is we have an undemocratic system of 535 politicians (that number was capped in the early 1900's and never adjusted) supposedly representing 330 million people, that's never been democracy, it's always been an oligarchy, a small group of people making the decisions for everyone else.

The first step would be to ascertain what the people want, democracy or oligarchy. I believe we have to push that envelope.

Unfortunately people are so tied to the voting for politicians concept, it's been so ingrained in us like it's the lifeblood of democracy, that it's hard to get people to even consider it.

I've been waiting for it to be confirmed that it would be Trump vs Clinton to start testing the waters again. (Originally I though Bush vs. Clinton would be what we'd have). It appears now is the time to start pushing the idea. It could be a boycott of just the presidential race, it could be against both major political parties, or it could be against this system in general.

Our system of "representation" is wholly unrepresentative. We need a complete rewrite. Unfortunately, we have to cooperate with an uneducated, bigoted, selfish, gun toting population to get it done. A significant part of the population is fine with oligarchy.

In other countries, if the populace realized that their constitution is not protecting them from being abused and their democratic rights being violated, gather ALL of their WISE men and women, sit down for month and months and discuss what exactly has to be changed in the current constitution to get a better one. It's a huge brain-storming gathering going on for a long time til a new legal text would be drafted and then decided of how to vote for it and implement it.

Nothing makes American establishment politicians react faster than the fear something might affect Saudi or Israeli interests and privileges. They definitely don’t represent us, their domestic constituents, nearly as well.

Greens have too much negative history and the word Socialist still carries at least some negative connotation, but Working Families would be a great umbrella to bring everyone together. It's already somewhat established (and yet has so much room to grow), works with other progressive groups well, and it's very name reifies it's commitment to the common name (Like both the Greens and the Democratic Socialists!).

I'm definitely going to research how to start a local branch in CA (I should probably figure that out soon and then maybe be able to take advantage of some Bernie groups while they are still intact).

Bernie has built up considerable political capital. I am not sure how much information the Sanders campaign has been able to accumulate on its own, outside of ActBlue and DNC database. Also not sure his willingness to break off at this point, but if he were to try and work from within the system, I think he should still for, his own OFA style database to build up our own system of funding progressive candidates to replace the entrenched elites.

A vote for Bernie does not necessarily equate to defection for Bernie. That being said, his support base is the future of this country and tends to be much more connected technologically. With people that have worked with him so far, we could probably get a coalition up and runing pretty quickly. I'd love to hear from DFA and WFP as to how successful they have been at expanding since joining up with Bernie. Bold new politicians would be able to tap into the populist enthusiasm and crowdfunding.

I was despondent last night, and have been thinking hard this morning.

But although NY was a big disappointment, its not so much because it had to be won, but because winning it would force the MSM to change the narrative.

But we've come this far without their help, so I don't see why now should be any different.

And don't forget, it is technically her political home state. And it is New York - a very finance-centric city.

My state comes up in less than a week. Of course all my evidence is anecdotal, but in talking to people canvassing and talking to other canvassers, far more people have said they are voting Bernie than Hillary.

And with her win in NY and the media trumpeting her inevitability more than ever, it could free up people who want to vote for Bernie but are scared for whatever reason that its not "pragmatic" so maybe they can vote their conscience.

I guess what I'm saying is, while a win in NY would have changed the conversation, it ain't over until its over. We have a bunch of states next week, and we should be focusing on those now.

Once the primary is decided, we can focus on a plan B - although I already know mine - I'll vote for the Greens if they are on my ballot, but I won't vote for any establishment Dem. I don't think I could ever vote for Trump, so it'll be whoever else is on the Presidential ballot.

all of this is that we are beginning to see the extent of neoliberal power both with respect to its capture of BOTH dominant parties and with respect to the capture of the media. I've been aware of the functioning of ideology for decades, but it's never been this glaring or obvious. Sanders has done extraordinarily well and surprised everyone. That means there's a deep thirst for change and something different. There's an opportunity here. The key lies in Sanders supporters refusing the democratic party going into the future. Clinton was even worse than I thought he'd be.) I gagged when Pelosi said defending the Constitution would be a good idea if you could win and took impeachment for war crimes off the table. I went ballistic when Obama offered social security cuts up on a platter to Boehner. Still, I remained a Democrat. I even sent the jerks money. I thought there were some good Democrats. It's too easy for a boycott of the election to be perceived to be just more of the usual apathy of low turnouts that have been the norm for decades. To make our voices heard is important, to be seen is important (else the media would not be trying to pretend we do not exist), or we will be ignored not just by the media but also by those potential allies in the populace that make a revolution or any significant popular change viable. Making that noise may come as protest votes or in some other noisier fashion, but visibility is vital.

it would just be perceived as apathy and thus consent, and so an excuse for Establishment politicians to keep doing what they're doing, since the American public apparently has no problem with it, not even enough of a problem to get off their couch and vote - or at least that's how they would perceive it.

A huge jump in the votes for say, the Green party, however, would force them to open their eyes. Even if it was only 5% of the votes instead of 1% it would show that people aren't willing to keep sanctioning their behavior and they will consider any other viable option.

I need to research this further, but I think a non-trivial chunk of Bernie supporters would push the Green party over various state threshholds and, much more urgently, be hard to hide.

A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

AGCC is happening.
If you cannot accept these facts, I cannot fake an interest in any of your opinions.

Much as I hope Bernie will run Independent, I'm not holding my breath. There's a particular kind of graciousness that only seems to come about with Democratic politicians after a clearly rigged election. Saw it with Gore, Kerry, etc... I'm fairly certain we would have seen it with Obama, had he not convinced the PTB that he would play ball.

Not gonna kick at the football anymore. This was their last chance, and the Democratic Party can fuck RIGHT off.

He is trying to reform the Democratic Party but he may realize that's too hard and join the Greens and he could take a lot progressive Democrats with him.
