They have nothing to say.
It's hard to hold a candidate responsible after an election when all they do is generate vile negativity.
Sound bites between spewing hatred of the other just doesn't cut it as far as I am concerned.
When the only claim coming from their respective partisans is "our candidate is the lesser of two evils" how dare you fucking demand that I vote for one of these odious people, how fucking dare you.
The have indeed inspired me, to run away from their parties as fast as possible and to fight them at every turn, this is not the country I want. They regard us as warm bodies to fuel their egos, nothing more, it has not been about us but merely which of them can convince some to vote based on hatred.
I am so glad that I voted for candidates without a D or and R after their name, so bloody glad. I want absolutely nothing to do with people whose only input has been to spout bile 24/7.
What positive has come out of this election?
Well hopefully it has demonstrated that the only thing either of our two major parties possess is unlimited hatred for the other. I had hoped Bernie would push her to the end, but sadly that hasn't happened, at least he had a "dream" now all we are served is a "nightmare".
At least "hope and change" inspired in some something deeper even if it was the same old flannel. Two wretched human beings hurling insults at each other inspires only the baser instinct such as fear and loathing of anyone who says, hold on, I have a question. There has been zero point in trying to discuss the future with either set of fanatics, all you get is "get with the program or get lost".
These sad excuses pretending to be leaders may motivate their respective bases to get to the polling booths, but they do nothing for the rest of us except possibly send in a ballot as a protest vote. Whichever is elected I expect zero change but a merely a continuation of the hate for the next generation or so. I feel that we missed a golden opportunity to change the discourse when my candidate Bernie Sanders was steamrollered by the party apparatchik. I am not sure when we will get the chance again, the two parties will do everything in the power to maintain the duopoly. Any possibility of anything else will once again be hacked off at the roots; as was Occupy.
I doubt if they will ever again allow descenting candidates to run in their primaries, I see their primaries becoming entirely closed shop affairs. Once bitten, twice shy.
The so called "progressive" blogs/sites might as well just shut down as one by one they became mere echo chambers of the Party. They will have even less influence than before because now the Party knows they will just roll over and beg for scraps. Most of them started as antiwar sites now they have joined forces to try and elect a war monger just because which party she nominally represents, I remember the joy for war votes despite all the warning issued by those ridiculed now. I remember whistleblowers being heralded but now denigrated as Russian puppets merely because of which party is in power at the time of their warnings. The list of those once supported but now reviled grows longer with each passing year.
Anyone that resists the status quo is denigrated, ridiculed and named as an enemy of the all powerful party no matter which side of the aisle you reside. To those prominent self declared "progressives" that sold their souls to the Party to elect the "lesser of two evils"; you lost and you lost badly and have become in turn part of the problem, no matter what the result of this election.
I am tired of the mindless partisanship and will not participate in this farce.
To both parties I say.
Fuck you

I was informed today that a vote for Stein is a vote for Clinton
So, from what I've been told recently, I'll actually be casting three votes next Tuesday...... for Stein, Clinton and Trump.
One man - three votes. Who knew?
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
They are getting wierder and more desperate with each passing
day
I tune in from time to time
it's gotten far worse at TOP, worse than I even imagined it could. I don't even want to say what kind of deranged screeds occupy the wreck list.
When this is all over, I think they're going to need a lot of therapy.

Who, indeed, knew. But I made my choice already...
... just like the good Captain here did.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

Couldn't agree more. Well said laFem
Hopefully more will join us in rejecting the duolpoly
I too, agree with every word.
Would you mind if I post this to my Facebook "friends"? With or without attribution?

"Fuck you" is all I could come up with, it basically
says it all
As does the excellent accompanying piece by Lily Allen
I suggest after voting everyone should leave the booth, walk outside and scream "FUCK YOU". I've done this before. The stress release is incredible.
The people, united, will never be defeated.
And if that doesn't work a good backup plan after voting
is to have "a basket of the pourables" ready and waiting.
The people, united, will never be defeated.

"Fuck you" is good enough
I wish that could be said to them on TV, maybe then we'd have a better chance at fucking getting rid of the status quo.

Yep, it should considered an

Cascading Kessler event.
The two major parties have reached a state where a bit of debris affecting one person knocks off several bits of crap debilitating or destroying other players, who in turn cast off several chunks...
It's nearly to the point nobody can get into the field without being peppered with flying shrapnel. As with a Kessler event, all we can do is wait for their orbits to decay and they flame out.
There is no such thing as TMI. It can always be held in reserve for extortion.
Or more simply a domino effect, or, all the stability of
a house of cards in a hurricane.
domino effect
The "domino effect" is a very simple form of terrestrial Kessler event.
Unless, of course, your name is "V", in which case maybe not so simple .......

I sure hope you're right.
What bothers me is my memory of Watergate. To me, it was the Great Unraveling, and by the time they got to the Church Committee and the House Special Committee on Assassinations, there was a lot of really nasty shit being revealed about America the Beautiful.
This time around, there are really no exceptions to entanglement in corruption. Who could ever chair a committee to credibly and seriously investigate Hillary? The Republican clowns in the House aren't up to it. Maybe the Senate could put Cruz in charge (don't know whether to laugh or vomit at that prospect). We already know that the DOJ, under Obama's clear guidance, wouldn't prosecute HRC if she joined Trump in shooting people in Manhattan. Special Prosecutor? Who the hell could they find in Washington or New York who had a bar license and a membership in the Right Club who wasn't as bought off as the targets, in fact who hadn't been bought and sold by the target and vice versa?
If things ever really started to unravel, there would be no cloth left. To switch metaphors, it's like you're trying to repair a crack in an old plaster wall, and the crack only gets larger and splits into new cracks until the whole wall is ready to come down. That's why the elite really has to close ranks around itself in order to save itself and what it considers to be The Only Possible System.
And it most likely will.
I intend to hold Her Heinous's feet to the fire if she wins.
I will insist that she keep each and every campaign promise, to-wit:
1. Her promise that Trump is a very, very bad man.
2. Her promise that I am living with what could be as many as 60 million deplorables (i.e. my fellow citizens who voted for Trump).
3. Her promise that Julian Assange should be "droned". (Of course I won't, but there are so few promises)
4. Her promise that she is a woman.
5. Her promise that Trump should be kept far away from the nuclear codes.
6. Her promise that single-payer health care "will never, ever happen". (again no, but I'm desperately looking for her promises)
Come to think of it, there isn't much at all in her campaign rhetoric besides "I'm a woman and I'm not Trump". I am confident that she will, at least, keep those two promises.
"Just call me Hillbilly Dem(exit)."

"4. Her promise that she is a woman."
Har...
I've wondered that myself.

Nice list. Last paragraph made me think of a joke.
Trump: I am bigly great and I'm not Hillary.
Clinton: I am a woman and I'm not Trump.
Stein: We are all human and here's what I'd like to accomplish.
Johnson: What was the question?
The people, united, will never be defeated.
IIRC she promised to
bomb Iran and be more aggressive in Syria, oh and to pressure Putin and probably expand NATO. She promised to modernize our nuclear arsenal too.
Heck, the fewer promises the better, in my book.
"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."
Hey, and don't forget that
Hey, and don't forget that she promised to bring Bibi into policy within a month of stealing office. Assuming that she hasn't initiated Mutual Assured Destruction by then.
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
People probably never thought
That the excesses of the (1st) Gilded Age could be stopped. But they were.
I know that a lot of people believe that Bernie is either a sell-out or a Trojan horse for Hillary.
But he gave an interview to the Ndw Republic recently. (I recommend it). And Bernie had this to say at the end (paraphrasing): 'they threw debs in jail, they destroyed what he worked for, and 10 years later Fdr implemented half of his policies.'
I still believe he sees reason to be optimistic.
This may be unfair, and I didn't listen to the interview, but...
It's true that Debs went to jail. Bernie is hanging around hoping for a committee chairmanship.
How much influence did Debs have over policy from jail?
Running from jail, he managed to get more votes for
President than any Socialist candidate before or since. His conviction exposed Oliver Wendell Holmes as the Establishment tool he was. Debs's imprisonment was unpopular enough that Harding commuted his sentence as soon as Wilson was out the door.
I am very dubious that poor Bernie will get anything in return for his self-abasement.
agreed he had no direct influence, but indirectly
he influenced Bernie who has positively influenced policy a hundred years later.
Has he?
Bernie managed to get some planks in the Dem party platform, but how much of what he stands for has actually become official US policy?

Thanks for the heads up about the interview.

The people, united, will never be defeated.
If Bernie is still optimistic
Then I am, too.
I do think it will be possible to pressure Hillary into creating some decent public policy and to stop some of her bad stuff.
Actually, I think it will be easier to persuade her than Obama. Obama delegated everything to corporate honchos and lobbyists, more like Bush II. He's always been disengaged from the day to day public policy, unless he has to go on a media tour in support of it. It's easy for him to follow a PR script and ignore protests (see #NoDAPL).
For better or worse, Hillary micromanages public policy. She'll be in the mix regularly, on a day to day basis. She'll actually be talking to MOC's, etc. It will be possible to get through to her, though you may not always get what you want.
"If you can't eat their food, drink their booze, take their money and then vote against them you've got no business being in Congress."
Hillary Clinton has a serious chronic illness. She has to rest
a long time to get through a debate with Donald Trump. She wouldn't be managing much, let alone micro-managing. Even her inner circle exchanges emails about her lousy judgment and incompetence.
She's a loser, whether she "wins" or not. Always has been. With every Peter Principle boost up the ladder, she leaves bigger messes behind.
Clintons are not persuadable by the likes of us; they exist in Greenback Land, where only money talks. The land of the enslaved and cowardly, not the free and the brave.

Yeah I've got friends, now, who are part of the echo chamber
Clinton has turned my friends into liars. Should I endorse her in hopes of getting a committee chair?
The ruling classes need an extra party to make the rest of us feel as if we participate in democracy. That's what the Democrats are for. They make the US more durable than the Soviet Union was.
I found an unexpected ally.
I have often fought with a Republican brother in law but at least this time around we agree on the simple premise that all the candidates suck except Jill.
A pox on both their houses
We will remember the sell-outs and shills, the Clinton cronies and collaborators, the behind-the-scenes string-pulling and collusion, the scripted media mouthpieces, the tortured Twister logic applied like a whip in attempts to herd us where we obstinately refuse to go. Because, for whatever reasons, we have the good fortune to be able to think critically and resist ceaseless pressures to accept GroupThink.
btw, the reddit subthread Way of the Bern has some good content and thoughtful comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/WayOfTheBern/
Folks there generally support Bernie's issues but don't mindlessly accept everything he says. Lots of Stein/Baraka support posted.
