There's A New Varietal Of W(h)ine From Team Hill

I'm really not savvy enough to figure out how to do a screen capture on this mo-chine. However, there's a theme running around the interwebz today from the Hill People that, to paraphrase, "If it weren't for those damn Independents, we would have killed in Michigan!". So, the Big Tent folks are now scurrying to advocate closed primaries in every state from here on out. Advocating the very Purity Test that they've been so haughty about when Sanders supporters ask them why they're Democrats to begin with.

Are you fucking kidding me? In what reality are we living? I put a piece up on DKos a while back that got no traction (Saturday afternoon, only Hill People around) asking if we were living in Bizarro World. And that was before DWS's said on fucking camera that Superdelegates only existed to prevent a grassroots candidate from winning the nomination. It was only in reference to Kissinger getting applause at a Dem debate. Now, there's Clinton supporters running around with their hair on fire because Independents, which make up 42% of the fucking electorate, had the nerve to vote in an open primary. The. Fucking. Gall.

How dare people engage in their civic responsibility to vote? Why would anyone allow them in the polling place at all if they haven't signed a Loyalty Pledge to the Democratic Party? Free and fair elections, my firm, toned ass! We need payment in blood. And by blood, I mean money. Lots of fucking money. That's the only way democracy works around here, kid. Pay to play or sit on the fucking bench.

Semi-apologies for the rant. Just needed to get some rage out of my head before I pick my kids up from school.

Cheers.

I also see them over there saying the amount of Hillary people are so massive that many of them defected to vote against Trump and that's the reason for her loss. Pathetic really.

There was a post on Facebook with some very funny twitter comments over that notion. Great chuckle for me at 5:30 this morning. I wonder if that's why Bernie won Colorado, too...

So, they're saying that Clinton supporters, knowing they were mighty in number, crossed over to the Republican side to vote for...Cruz? Rubio?

Really? This is what they're telling themselves in order to feel better?

And they even claim Sanders supporters do that kind of shit all the time

anyone’s supporters who do that sort of thing are ratfuckers. Lots of Bern folks have done that too.

Of course I called him/her on that and was promptly hidden.

I've always been of the opinion that someone's stupidity should be visible, which is why I don't flag or block or any shit of that nature. Sunlight. It's a beautiful thing.

about people who see deception and cheating when there's zero evidence of it. I can only conclude that it's what the accuser would do, and they imagine that everyone else is as dishonest as they are.

If you are willing to vote for Hillary, is it such a far leap to vote for a Cruz or Rubio? They are all warmongers, free traders, and liars.

but I'm sure Clinton supporters would argue against my viewpoint.

Still, I"m a little confused by how this particular disconnect works. These are the same people who insist Clinton can beat Trump easily. No contest, she'll win. So why would anyone cross over to vote against him to try and and boost someone else when--supposedly--running against him in the general is a free ride to the white house. How does that work in their heads?

You know what? Never mind, I don't think I want to know...

Seems a bit self-defeating. The polls that no one are supposed to pay attention to show that the only one that she may possibly beat (if they tie him up and gag him) is Trump. Goes to show that some people are not thinking clearly even with their excuses.

because most of the independents I know used to be Dems. Like me, they got tired of being taken for granted every 2 years in order to get re-elected, only to immediately sell us out to whatever corporation wanted a subsidy or no oversight on their latest toxic waste dump. As I've heard said many times "I didn't leave the party, the party left me."

The independents voting for Bernie ARE Dems. The real ones that saw the sell out for what it was years ago. But hey, they want to block us from voting, so be it--they'll force a 3rd party (or hostile takeover) that much faster.

When I moved in 1998, the time was right to leave the D world for I land. While I was content voting Mondale, Dukakis, and Clinton, watching what Clinton did was excruciating. By 1996 I was voting Green, even as a Floridian in 2000. Yeah, I'm one of those.

The things that separate me from my dedicated D friends is a commitment to liberal viewpoints beyond the simple, feel good cultural issues. Just because someone is pro choice or pro gay rights doesn't make them liberal anymore (even many Gen X and Millenia GOPERS are libertarian enough on social issues), particularly when they are willing to sell out for whatever fear might threaten their sense of security, when they discount BLM as disgruntled folks with no clear agenda, when they are more worried about their mutual funds and IRAs than the suffering of so many of our impoverished neighbors.

I cannot speak for Hillary's black supporters, but I will for her older, white supporters. They are elitists, every bit as selfish as Romney supporters were. Thry believe that the government should be just, but they are unwilling to personally sacrifice any of their continuing comfort to make things right. I have many such friends, though this campaign has strained things. They use social media to attack the GOP and laud Hillary, without recognizing that more is possible if we are willing to work together.

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

Yep they have new talking points to replace the old ones. First it was that Bernie would never win much of anything. Then it was that he could only win states near Vermont. Then it was that he could only win states with exclusively white people. Then it was that he could only win caucuses and that he couldn't win primaries in big states.

Now today, it's closed v open primaries. Bernie hasn't won a closed primary and the whole Dem v Independent thing. Of course they ignore that a person is more likely to register independent in an open primary state. But whatevs.

Man, when they get these talking points from On High, they sure do stick to them, don't they? It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic. Oy.

I wonder what stage we are at now in Glenn Greenwald's model? Stage 12? Heh.

Now, if you will all excuse me, I have to go to a Bernie-related fundraiser for the next 6 hours! It is called BERNSTOCK, and I would have promoted it all the fuck over the 'net if we hadn't sold out of our merchandise packages. Smile We're also at capacity for the # of people allowed in the building, LOL.

I'll let yas know how much money we raise and such. GO BERNIE!!!!!

You would think the Party would want the candidate who appeals to the most independents since that is actually what will decide the election and that is the crowd that they will be pandering to endlessly in the GE. Round them up early in the primary to commit to their candidate! Oh. . . . wait. It's not Hillary?

They can't possibly believe that the *majority* of the independent vote in primaries is made up of rat-f**kers. The percentage of idiots who would do that is infinitesimal. That whole theory of primary voting was advocated by Rush Limbaugh a few years ago and sane commenters (unlike TPTB at the DNC) realized immediately that what would happen is that your own actual preferred candidate was far more likely to lose without your vote.

I would make the point that no one should be forced into registering for a party when they prefer to remain independent in order to have a voice in our system. OR, if this is going to become a new hurdle to jump, same-day on site registration HAS to be a part of the process as well.

PS. There is a free program--quite small--that does screen captures very nicely with lots of options. It is called PicPick.
