Teresa May's Claim Russia Poisoned former Spy with Nerve Agent Contradicted by UK Ambassador to OPCM last year

You may have heard that former spy, Sergey Skripal, a was poisoned in UK with “a military-grade nerve agent of a type developed by Russia” known as ‘Novichok.’ Naturally, everyone blames Putin, including every major US media outlet, despite the failure to produce any evidence that Russia is responsible. But who cares about proof, right? Well, the OPCW does.

The OPCW is an acronym for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and in September, 2017 they verified that all of Russia's Chemical agents had been destroyed.

The [OPCW] Director-General stated: "The completion of the verified destruction of Russia's chemical weapons programme is a major milestone in the achievement of the goals of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

I congratulate Russia and I commend all of their experts who were involved for their professionalism and dedication.

I also express my appreciation to the States Parties that assisted the Russian Federation with its destruction program and thank the OPCW staff who verified the destruction."
The remainder of Russia’s chemical weapons arsenal has been destroyed at the Kizner Chemical Weapons Destruction Facility in the Udmurt Republic.

Kizner was the last operating facility of seven chemical weapons destruction facilities in Russia. The six other facilities (Kambarka, Gorny, Maradykovsky, Leonidovka, Pochep and Shchuchye) completed work and were closed between 2005 and 2015.

Well so what you might say? However, it was a big deal to the UK's ambassador to The Netherlands, and Permanent Representative to the OPCW, Peter Wilson, who praised the OPCW for their work verifying the complete destruction of Russia's chemical arsenal in November, 2017:

Russia chemical program 8.png
Russia chemical program 2.png

Of course, now Ambassador Wilson has changed his tune, implying that Russia does have these "Novickok class" nerve agents. One wonders why he didn't denounce the OPCM report that verified Russia's chemical weapons stores had been destroyed when he had the chance. Perhaps it's because the United States, Israel and the UK all have the capability to produce such nerve agents themselves, according to "Craig Murray, former UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan:

The same people who assured you that Saddam Hussein had WMD’s now assure you Russian “novochok” nerve agents are being wielded by Vladimir Putin to attack people on British soil ... A vital missing word from Theresa May’s statement yesterday was “only”. She did not state that the nerve agent used was manufactured ONLY by Russia. She rather stated this group of nerve agents had been “developed by” Russia. [...]

The “novochok” group of nerve agents – a very loose term simply for a collection of new nerve agents the Soviet Union were developing fifty years ago – will almost certainly have been analysed and reproduced by Porton Down. That is entirely what Porton Down is there for. It used to make chemical and biological weapons as weapons, and today it still does make them in small quantities in order to research defences and antidotes. After the fall of the Soviet Union Russian chemists made a lot of information available on these nerve agents. And one country which has always manufactured very similar persistent nerve agents is Israel. This Foreign Policy magazine (a very establishment US publication) article on Israel‘s chemical and biological weapon capability is very interesting indeed. ...

In addition, the US sent experts to dismantle the alleged Novichok facility located in Uzbekistan way back in 1999, according to the BBC. As Nafeez Ahmed, author of the Medium article, "The UK government is manufacturing its nerve agent case for ‘action’ on Russia," points out, the credibility of May's claim of Russian involvement in Skripal's death seems highly unlikely. For example, the US never objected when Boris Yeltsin's government "declared that it was not stockpiling Novichok."

What's more, the US has been called out for its hypocrisy in claiming other countries have not complied with the treaty requiring disarmament of chemical weapons by the EU founded Clingandael Institute of International Relations which noted the US failure to destroy its own chemical weapons stockpiles:

... "Particularly interesting is that compliance concerns tend to be raised by the US, while this state is itself being criticized for delays in disarmament. In 2005, the US expressed concern about active offensive CW research and development (R&D) programmes, as well as inaccurate declarations regarding past CW transfers and undeclared CW facilities in Russia, China, Iran, Libya and Sudan. ... In the meantime, the US itself has been criticized for exporting arms classified as ‘toxicological agents’ (notably tear gas) to numerous countries in the Middle East (between 2009–13). Since 9/11, the US has also intensified its R&D on non-lethal chemical agents, along with new means of delivery and dispersal. ... Taken together with the delay in destroying US CW stockpiles, this has taken a toll on the US’ standing within the CWC, undermining its role as a ‘regime hegemon’. ...”

But hey, Russia must be responsible, right? Even though Putin would have little motivation to kill a former spy that it handed over to the UK in return for the release of imprisoned Russian spies. From Craig Murray, again:

From Putin’s point of view, to assassinate Skripal now seems to have very little motivation. If the Russians have waited eight years to do this, they could have waited until after their World Cup. The Russians have never killed a swapped spy before. Just as diplomats, British and otherwise, are the most ardent upholders of the principle of diplomatic immunity, so security service personnel everywhere are the least likely to wish to destroy a system which can be a key aspect of their own personal security; quite literally spy swaps are their “Get Out of Jail Free” card. You don’t undermine that system – probably terminally – without very good reason.

On the other hand, the US and UK have been accusing Russia of all sorts of nasty (if fact free) "acts of war" over the last two years, despite providing little or no evidence the Russian government is behind these claims other than bare assertions by known liars. Why not blame them for killing a spy they handed over to the Brits years ago, even if some other state actor had a better motive? For example:

To return to Israel. Israel has the nerve agents. Israel has Mossad which is extremely skilled at foreign assassinations. Theresa May claimed Russian propensity to assassinate abroad as a specific reason to believe Russia did it. Well Mossad has an even greater propensity to assassinate abroad. And while I am struggling to see a Russian motive for damaging its own international reputation so grieviously, Israel has a clear motivation for damaging the Russian reputation so grieviously. Russian action in Syria has undermined the Israeli position in Syria and Lebanon in a fundamental way, and Israel has every motive for damaging Russia’s international position by an attack aiming to leave the blame on Russia.

...I can see absolutely no reason to believe that is a more valid speculation than the others at this point.

As an infamous super-villain and enemy of Batman once said: It's all part of the plan.

Russia replies to hysterical accusations with international law and reason:

Russia “Threatens” UK: “One Does Not Give 24Hrs Notice to a Nuclear Power”

“Moscow will not respond to London’s ultimatum until it receives samples of the chemical substance to which the UK investigators are referring.

“Britain must comply with the Chemical Weapons Convention which stipulates joint investigation into the incident, for which Moscow is ready.

especially if they get in the way of good propaganda? I just left an appointment and this came up for discussion. The lady agrees that Putin has done everything that he has been accused of doing because that's who he is. A ruthless killer. No room at all for doubt. The look she gave me when I tried to debunk every story out there said it all. She isn't interested in learning the truth. The power of propaganda has been pushed so strongly it's easy for people to believe it if they don't take time to look for the truth. She brought up the 13 Russians and (I interjected "ham sandwiches") said that their job was to sew distention on social media and she wouldn't believe that they posted most of the ads after the election, nor that the Facebook VP admitted that. Nope, no how could I get her to open her mind to the propaganda.

I asked her to question what the end game was for this and she didn't know, but it's true. I told her that it might be so we can remove Putin from office and some other reasons and then I brought up the Ukraine coup. Nope, we didn't do that, Putin did. Nazis? There are no Nazis in Ukraine. Silly girl.

Here's Megyn Kelly's interview with Putin and see how many times he says that he had nothing to do with the election or the guy who runs the advertising campaign that employs the 13 Russians. Every time he said that she asked him again why did it. Sigh. This is what has been blared into people's minds since Her lost. It's like the WMDs scam never happened.

The leaders of the U.S., U.K. and Israel have managed to make Putin the voice of reason and sanity on the global stage. They have managed to make a man who was a KGB officer for 16 years look like the good guy. Now that takes talent.

I've been thinking it over and this is not just a result of PR incompetence. The policies of all three leaders and countries also deserve global condemnation. Putin and Russia have not only captured the moral high ground, a case can be made that they deserve it on policy grounds.

almost everything. They have been slowly erasing the new deal social programs protection that FDR put in place. If they had done this all at once people would have been upset, but by doing it slowly on top of telling us that only lazy people need them, people are okay with it. The same goes for almost everything else that they have been doing on other issues. Kids these days only know this country at war. Much more so then previous generations.

Did you say that this Russian propaganda reminds you of the WMDs and that's why your friend asked you that?

@Meteor Man

I know, right? Hoping that Putin can keep calm and not strike back at what he is being pressured by or into. How many Russian casualties is he going to accept before he says "that's quite enough" and strikes back? We've bombed his bases with drones and shot down one of his jets or we have supplied the ones who did.

I asked the lady if she would believe what he told Meghyn in the interview and she said no because he lies about everything. How does she know that? I'm open to listening to what he said about the interference and he made two good points. If Mueller has proof of the interference and if May has proof of the poisoning, show him the evidence and let him respond to that.

Megyn asked him if he would send the 13 Russians here to face trial? He said that they had broken no Russian law so why would he?

Just very weary of Russia Gate. It's never ending. What's next?

@snoopydawg WMD, I mean that should be fresh in everyone's mind, right? Especially those who reviled GWB? She does listen most of the time, I know it's hard for them with me, but sometimes the oddest most vapid propaganda type stuff comes out of her mouth it always blows me away. As she is a very busy person with a special needs child I get the why, sometimes, but man, other times I just want to scream a bit when something like that comes out of her. It does serve as a good indicator sometimes of just what the more main stream addled among us really think. Or think they think.

Guess they will have to do another one so it sticks in people's minds. Wait... maybe that's what they are setting up now with the talk of all the bad things Russia has done. In 10 years we'll be saying "yep, this looks like another "Russia killed the ex spy" story again. This doesn't have the same ring as the WMDs, does it?

@snoopydawg I have spoken to two of people I know who were Bernie supporters and progressive. They have accepted the deep state narrative about Russia, and they are vociferous about it. I could tell immediately that engaging them with any counter to the narratives would be an "argumentative disaster".

I am beginning to suspect Freudian disturbances in The Force in the ménage à trois between Trump, Clinton, and Putin. The depth of emotional reaction makes me think there is something going on that goes beyond politics.

@snoopydawg It doesn't matter if it *was* their job to "sow dissension on social media." Sowing dissension on social media is not a crime, national or international. In fact, even outright manipulating people's minds on social media is not a crime; that's why people like Hillary Clinton spend a million dollars hiring consultants to do it.

If you want to die on the barricades (figuratively speaking) this is the barricade to die on.

It's neither illegal nor a justifiable cause for war to express your opinion on the internet.
Even if you are a shithead who's being paid to push propaganda.

Is it wrong? If you are pushing propaganda as a shill or troll, yes, I believe it is. That is an abuse of the free speech you have a right to. Much as if I used my freedom to do what I want with my private property to regularly dump cyanide in my creek.

It's wrong to push propaganda. But the only time anybody in the government or mass media cares that it's wrong is when the propaganda in question displeases the Clinton/Bush cartel.

...as the story developed.

According to Wikipedia. The creators were:

The chemists Ranajit Ghosh and J.F. Newman discovered the V-series nerve agents at the British firm ICI in 1952, patenting diethyl S-2-diethylaminoethyl phosphono- thioate (agent VG) in November 1952. Further commercial research on similar compounds ceased in 1955 when its lethality to humans was discovered. The U.S. went into production of large amounts of VX in 1961 at Newport Chemical Depot.

I cannot imagine two nations who would benefit more from using this deadly toxin on a disposable Russian in their country. Conversely, Russia would only suffer adversity from taking such action.

Bibi really wants war with Iran as does Trump and the Saudis and weakening Russia would help him get his war on. They're pissed at Putin's derailing the Syrian coup and Israel wants to hit Lebanon. With Russia's military in Syria, I'm sure that they don't know how he will respond if they do. Congress would have no problem giving Trump permission for it because of how loyal they are to Israel. But what will the other signatories to the Iran deal do?

Yeah, only one country could have made the nerve toxin that was deployed just down the beach from a plant that is creating them. Horses/Zebras, right?

Skripal's employer. He has long ago told all that he has on Russia, he cannot harm them. OTOH, who knows how much, if any, of his knowledge of his employer's sekrets he has spilled. It is far from unheard of for a spy agency to take out its own.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

It always takes a day or two before various facts come out which put doubt in the story. Although any rational person would ask why would Putin kill a former spy whom they traded away eight years ago--and use a method that can be used to point guilt directly back at Putin.

I do think this is a classic false flag operation. And May knows it but realizes the political advantage it gives to her as Labour gains on her and the Tories. War/patriotism are always used for political gain.

Who did it? Man, take your pick between Ukrainians, Poles, and Israelis as a start.
