Tell us about your state and congressional district.

How is that Blue Wave looking from where you are?

I am in NY 22, where Republican Trump rubberstamp Claudia Tenney is being challenged by Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi. Down With Tyranny hates Brindisi; I am not sure why. Maybe because he was handpicked by Chuckie Schemer. There is no Green Party or other candidate that I know of. Brindisi is no prize, no mention of foreign policy on his website and no medicare for all. He does call for putting money, state or federal I guess, into vocational education and apprenticeships. That is a good idea, not everyone wants or needs a bachelor's degree. He will probably eke out a win, if only because the Tenney campaign put out a warning to volunteers to be careful of their personal safety on account of the Brindisi family's alleged mob connections from back in the day when Utica, where the Brindisis come from, was a mob ruled town, and some nasty person has sent the email out into the internetz. Way to go, Claudia, now every Italian American in NY22 is mad at you.

Here is a starter list of things our district needs that neither candidate wants to go near:

bus lines between rural towns

startup money for locally owned businesses. There is some, but a lot more could be used.

conversion of the gas and electric company, which is owned by some Englishmen, I think, back to public ownership.

The WFP in this district is merely a sheepdog for the Dims. I finally gave up after one of their operatives came to my door and insulted me, and reregistered as independent.

I shall probably be voting Green Party when I can for the indefinite future simply because I think there needs to be a Green Party. Someone needs to speak for the trees.

Please share, everyone. Tell us about your districts, and about local races if you want.

{sigh} Here in NY-21, sadly, the Establishment Dim won the Primary, so I have made little effort to GOTV becuz she has generated little excitement, voters seeing the same ol' lame ol' from the Dim party.

any better. I actually think Cobb here in 21 is more "progressive"
@Wink
than Brindisi - who appears almost as Repub as Tenney - but d22 progs on FB can't praise his bonafides enough. smh
And, yeah, I'll be voting Green myself. Howie for Gov.!

@Wink One thing I will say, Cobb has a professional website. She has that country heartwarming theme down pat.
She does seem marginally better than Brindisi, still no foreign policy page.

for rural towns...
@Wink
funny, but I have had the yellow scratch pad out , thinking about that myself. Is very doable, but I don't know how affordable. In 22 you could use Cortland as a hub, loop routes out from there. But, yeah, is a damn good idea!

@Wink have a monopoly of bus service?

You would need vehicles, some sort of lot or garage, a contract with a mechanic shop to keep them running and, say, two out of work vets per ride, one to drive and one for security and to help seniors get on and off. Keep the fares simple, a set price, $.50 say, for each seat you use. I think Rome would be a good hub for Oneida County.

14 seaters. IIRC they
@Nastarana
can be had for $50K and less.
I'd have to go back and look, but something like that.
I think it's a good idea, necessary idea.
And, yeah, Rome is an excellent hub.

We have Bill Posey, your basic Repig, and Sanjay Patel, a generic Dem.

His issues platform is solid enough, I guess, but his bio....

Sanjay Patel is an activist, changemaker, and project manager who has nearly two decades of diverse experience in the government, corporate and nonprofit sectors. A graduate of UCLA with a degree in Economics, Sanjay began his career in technology, strategy and consulting roles at Deloitte, Genentech and the Santa Clara County Social Services Agency. He then launched a small consulting business in San Francisco, and subsequently founded a nonprofit that used social media to raise funds for changemakers across the globe.

Sanjay has lived in Brevard for nearly a decade, where he relocated with his wife, Stacey, whose family has called Satellite Beach home for generations. Most recently, to expand the impact of his social change efforts, Sanjay has focused on political activism. He travelled to multiple states as an organizer during the 2016 presidential primaries, served as one of Brevard’s elected delegates to the Democratic National Convention, spent several weeks at Standing Rock, and has since been elected State Committeeman of the Brevard Democratic Party (BrevardDems).

In that role, he was appointed to a statewide Resolutions Committee, where he led the Florida Democratic Party to adopt resolutions supporting economic justice and fair wages, healthcare as a human right, guaranteed public education for all Floridians from pre-K through college or trade school, and opposing big money in politics. During his time as an officer of the BrevardDems, the organization won a “golden gavel” award for knocking the most doors of any county in the state, membership has grown by over 300%, fundraising has nearly doubled, and three Democrats have been elected to local office in areas formerly considered to be Republican strongholds.

Let's face it, Congresscritter Posey has had no real challenge from anyone on the Dem side. Why? Here's a clue:

Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.

@The Aspie Corner one more guy who never punched a timeclock and he thinks he can represent the party of working people.

Maybe this country needs an actual labor party, like they have in Europe.

It looks like you flower children are Waiting For Michael. Stay safe. I guess Mayor Gillum has his opportunity to show what he's made of. Quick question, how much of his fortune is Di Santis willing to spend on the relief and comfort of his fellow Floridians?

@Nastarana As for DeSantis, I'm sure he'll pay plenty of lip service to the disaster but no alms.

As I said in another essay, our choices are Republican Dave Hughes, or Collin Peterson (barf!!). Peterson has been there for 28 years. If there's a write-in space I'm writing in No One, or myself.

For US Senate we have Paula Overby, the only Green party candidate on the whole ballot. You betcha I'm voting for her. Also Amy Klobuchar vs. Republican Jim Newberger. Klobuchar will probably win reelection.

All of our offices are up for election this year also. For Governor it's (D) Tim Walz vs (R) Jeff Johnson.

Not a word on foreign policy anywhere on the whole page. Ugh.

This shit is bananas.

@Daenerys @Daenerys when she was first elected. A tough but nice lady who had been a prosecutor, as in putting bad guys in jail, seemed the perfect foil to Mme. Shill... sigh... I am sure I would be voting Green also if I were there.

3 majorities in wisconsin (both state houses, plus the congressional delegation), or the governor's mansion.

jesus, it's been 8 years of that odious fucking slug, scott walker.

apparently, there've been efforts to eat at his support "up north" by harping on the condition of the roads up there -- thus the emergence of the meme, "Scott holes".

The earth is a multibillion-year-old sphere.

AGCC is happening.
If you cannot accept these facts, I cannot fake an interest in any of your opinions.

@Nastarana

He earned the monkier "Senator Pothole" because one of the things his Senate office did for constitutents was to get potholes fixed. Normally, you call your town maintenance office for that. The general implication of the moniker was that Al was not doing his real job, but merely doing low level stuff that was a waste of the governmental resources he had.

Despite all the insults, people did like gettin their potholes fixed. So maybe people will dislike lack of same from Walker.

You have all heard me say this here . . . but the dem candidates running here are progressive "enough." Not perfect, but pretty good.

And the green party doesn't really have anyone running.

The faithful republicans remaining here are religious right folks. I am not sure how big a group they are. They just think jesus will rapture them out of here so climate collapse, endless and nuclear war are cool.

"Make dirt, not war." eyo

@mhagle this season. And some (ex)CIA operatives, I believe. Beto ain't perfect, but I would like to see him win. It looks some of the more progressive Democrats have a fighting chance in areas where the corporadims don't even bother.

Oh well. At least he spends more time living in Utah than Orrin does. Orrin spends most of his time in Virginia.

His first campaign motto was, "what do you call someone who has spent 3 terms in congress? You call them home." Then he promised to only serve two terms. How many terms ago was that? People say that they want term limits. This is easy to do. Don't keep sending them back to congress. See? Easy Peasy.

I think someone is running against Mia Love, but since the Koch brothers are funding her I'm betting that she wins big time.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

@snoopydawg Someone should ask him why does he need five houses. Mia Love is a poster child for Republican "inclusiveness". They can't afford for her to loose.

Does Utah have any small parties? What about the Libertarians? Are they running anyone for anything?

@Nastarana But they are very small and disorganized. At least they were when I left; they were working on building it from the ground up.

And yes, they also have the lolbertarians. My SIL votes lolbertarian. She posted a meme on FB the other day about electing some functioning adults to government for once. The irony hurts!
