Supposed Acceptance of Autism in the Workplace: I Don't Buy It

Yup. Apparently we're a gold mine to tech companies. So why the hell am I skeptical? Read, or watch this story and tell me it isn't too good to be true.
I put in 240 resumes in 2016 alone and the only call back I got wouldn't even interview me because I had no drivers' license. Yes, yes, you had to be able to drive to multiple polling places to work on equipment, but I was told by the recruiters this wasn't the case.
Things like this may be happening in Silicon Valley, but in Flawer'Duh? Fat chance. We rely far too much on tourism and service industry bullshit for this to ever happen here.

That sucks.
Sounds like this should fall under "reasonable accommodation" to me; can't an employer figure out alternate transportation for a qualified candidate? So frustrating.
I wonder if there are any headhunters for SAP or Microsoft you could contact? If both companies are truly committed to this initiative, perhaps they'd be willing to pay relocation fees?
(I know, I sound like Polyanna).
Nope. And my wife and in-laws would never go along

relocation
I find that corporate-funded relocation is an urban legend oftener than not.....

Thank you for the link
My SO's grandchild is on the autism spectrum. He has very special qualities once one gets to know and understand him. Unfortunately, many of his peers (and some exceedingly stupid teachers) in public school could be mean and cruel. He is now in a special setting where his talents can blossom.
Yup. I know that all too well.
I hope this kid has a better lot than I ever did.

Typical tokenism.
Your CBS Sunday Morning video may well be factual; but even if it is, it's tokenism. One autistic American managed to find a company looking for a token autistic employee which hired him.
Never mind the millions of folks like you for whom the door is still securely barred.
And I think you've already figured out that suitable employment for you, and continued residence in FlawerDuh, are mutually incompatible. I have no utter idea what you're going to do about that.

To be honest, nothing. And why should I?

Is that even legal?
I thought they can only ask if you have reliable transportation, nothing further. Wouldn't surprise me if it is legal in Flori-duh though.
This shit is bananas.
Right-to-Work state, so I assume yes.
