Sunday Album Open Thread: The Bee Gees' First

Some Albums really stood out for one reason or another, but never seemed to get the recognition they deserved. There are others that I just like to play every once in a while. Back before they got sucked into the talent and soul destroying morass that was disco, the Bee Gees cut just such an album.

There are some ads you need to click through, sorry.

Naturally, this is an open thread too.

Somehow, this seems incomplete without

were a lot better/relevant than most people remember.

A link update:

I found a better version of Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms from Yugoslavia TV2. It doesn't look crappy like the other one I posted.

@Arrow
better and more relevant than many remember, their good beginnings eclipsed by "Stayin' Alive".

@Arrow I have now listened to 4 million versions, plus or minus 3 million 990.000, of Brothers in Arms, and think the Berlin 2007 version is the best. I will now try to move to something a little mire upbeat, like Dance Me to the End of Love.

Just kidding, I think? It is Willy after all. Smile Bee Gees, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson - Live Medley 1979

I remember blasting early 70s Bee Gees out over the water in Paradise Cove, California. My friends dad had an awesome sound system that could shake the bay windows, and that was the music he liked. Good thing for those windows it wasn't Zeppelin, lol. Thanks for the teenage memories.

Peace

Holiday was one of my favorite BeeGees songs. Like you, I think their earlier music was better than when they went disco. It is sad that only Barry, the oldest brother, is still alive.

Edit to add video.

@Amanda Matthews
"Got to get a message to you" as an extra. The only version I turned up in an admittedly overquick YouTube search seemed really short, however.

@Amanda Matthews I always like those two songs too, particularly Massachusetts.

I think that was one of the best songs of the era, let alone the Bee Gees.
