Slobodan Milosevic exonerated by the ICTY

I remember every night in the mid or late 90's listening to the VOA and BBC World Service that Serbia, led by Slobodan Milosevic were committing the most atrocious of war crimes in Yugoslavia. Milosevic was, we were told, worse than "Hitler". Clinton was in the forefront of slanderous attacks on Milosevic blaming him for the violence in Bosnia and Kosovo, Milosevic's evil justifying the US bombing and destruction of Serbia. The Serbs themselves were painted as raping, looting barbarian monsters.

In today's news I find this"

The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague has determined that the late Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic was not responsible for war crimes committed during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

In a stunning ruling, the trial chamber that convicted former Bosnian-Serb president Radovan Karadzic of war crimes and sentenced him to 40 years in prison, unanimously concluded that Slobodan Milosevic was not part of a “joint criminal enterprise” to victimize Muslims and Croats during the Bosnian war.

The Tribunal’s determination that Slobodan Milosevic was not part of a joint criminal enterprise, and that on the contrary he “condemned ethnic cleansing” is of tremendous significance because he got blamed for all of the bloodshed in Bosnia, and harsh economic sanctions were imposed on Serbia as a result. Wrongfully accusing Milosevic ranks right up there with invading Iraq only to find that there weren’t any weapons of mass destruction after all.

So what we have proven, decades after the fact, are more war crimes committed by the Clintons and the USA propoganda apparatus. The innocent leader of Serbia suffered in prison (and was poisoned by his jailers) while Bill and his cronies (and wife) sucked up millions and millions of dollars to live in luxury.

The Clintons and the people of the USA destroyed a country and murdered its people based on LIES!!!!

"As you know the United States and its Nato allies have begun a military campaign to reduce President Milosevic's ability to inflict war on the people of Kosovo."

"He waged senseless wars in Bosnia and Croatia which only ended after enormous bloodshed on all sides." -- Bill Clinton March 26, 1999

In other news, the UN was going to charge Saudi Arabia with violations against children's rights in Yemen after it started bombing the country and using cluster munitions.
Saudi Arabia threatened to pull funding for the UN if Ban Ki-moon charged them.
And it gets worse. The silence of the US has been deafening.
The article is another great read about the hypocrisy of the United States.
On one hand it states that it had to bomb Syria to protect the civilians from Assad, yet it stay quiet while the Saudis slaughtered hundreds of thousands people in Yemen.

U.S. support for the Saudis in Yemen has weakened Washington morally at the U.N., allowing Russia and other countries to call the Americans hypocritical for "politicizing" Syrian humanitarian access while supporting a coalition that is blockading anntire country, helping to worsen what in Yemen is numerically the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, according to U.N. figures for those in need of aid. While the U.S. has highlighted the toll of Russian bombs in Syria, it has been less willing to criticize Moscow’s use of cluster munitions. The weapons are widely banned internationally under a U.N. treaty, but the Pentagon maintains they can be used appropriately. The Saudis offer a prime example of their reckless use in Yemen, where they’ve unleashed them in populated areas. The more flagrant the Saudis are in their behavior, the harder it is for Washington to bury the underlying hypocrisy of its support.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

I wasn't familiar with from a credible Twitter a/c. Was waiting for Diana Johnstone or some expert to post on this to confirm.

The Liberal Class owns this. Just like Libya. Amazing how the Liberal Class gets away with mass murders. It is like they are Teflon-coated.

"indivisible", i.e., once you joined, you could not "leave the hotel".

It appears that that has been America's view ever since. The USA, despite not recognizing de jure the forced incorporation of the Baltics into the USSR, nevertheless at the same time opposed the "rebel republics'" independence movements. Can't leave the hotel, even if you were dragged into it by force.

The US is against even autonomy, much less independence, for the Turkish Kurds.

The imaginary lines drawn by Sykes and Picot in 1916 is considered "inviolable" by the US.

Why do you think some people find Americans to be such hypocrites

That is, look at some maps of Europe from 1942, at the height of Nazi power. Pay attention to what used to be Yugoslavia and Ukraine.

Yikes, this place is full of hate. Or at least some of the comments are.

Surprising ruling to say the least. And the fact that Milosevic was poisoned in jail now becomes a tragic thing.

However, the idea that the Clintons went in and tore up the country is over the rainbow. The country was already torn up. War crimes and ethnic cleansing were happening. As the OP mentioned, Karadzic was convicted. Just because a court found that there wasn't enough evidence to convict on a conspiracy charge for Milosevic doesn't mean war crimes and ethnic cleansing weren't happening. Saying otherwise is like saying since OJ wasn't convicted there wasn't a murder. Talk about backwards. That's Trump level 'thinking' right there.

And it ignores the fact that the NATO led invasion/intervention was largely successful in STOPPING the violence and cleansing. The former Yugoslavia is in a lot better shape now than mid-90's, for certain.
