Schadenfreude with a side of disbelief
Trying to get ones thoughts down coherently is a difficult thing at the moment. Donald Trump won. Holy Cheese Doodles.
As a gay man my reaction to reading the histrionics of places like Joemygod, Towleroad, Boyculture, Kenneth in the 212 and Queerty are a mixed bag.
During the election there was a concerted effort to shut down any and all concerns regarding the candidacy of Hillary Clinton and how she got there. It was at the very least Yellow Journalism. It was perplexing to me that reasonably intelligent people who know about gaslighting, alienation and underhanded tricks would fall so far down the rabbit hole. This was so egregious that after years of reading I stopped visiting many of the sites and have felt exiled from my own online community.

The reason for using this image is the inclusion of the Rainbow Flag. This person, who may be LGBT or a supporter, succinctly encapsulates the entire mindset of the majority of these people.
Now that the Hillary Clinton Campaign has succumbed to the weaknesses that people so rightly worried about, is there any self reflection? Any examination of the whys and hows? No. Not one jot or tittle.
It is all about blaming the uneducated people, unthinking people, white males, media, BLM, the vast right wing plot, sexism, Naderism and spurious claims about Berniebros etc. being responsible for this end of the world. Not one word on issues like the siphoning of funds from downballot races starving local Dem candidates, the loss of the states most affected by NAFTA or the like. This Escalation of Commitment (where a pattern of behavior in which an individual or group will continue to rationalize their decisions, actions, and investments when faced with increasingly negative outcomes rather than alter their course) is the rule rather than the exception. The sheer excuse making and overdramatic grand pronouncements of doom is so off-putting. It is as if you are an enemy if you question the Orthodoxy of how horrible it will be.
Why am I so disturbed by this? So what! You may be thinking just a bunch of kool-aid drinking LGBT people? As a group, LGBT people have had to be crafty, cognizant and discerning when it comes to parsing unwritten/unsaid things as our very well being depended on it (I am aware that I am using sweeping generalizations). And in this election that went right out the door. It is as if a big ball of Teh Stoopid (tm) removed the critical thinking process. This was not helped as the vast majority, if not all LGBT online publications went into the tank for Hillary Clinton from the get go.
How does this relate to my title? Well. Having been relegated to the howling wildernesses (I kid, I kid as it has been phenomenal to find people of like minds) by my peers and whatnot, this outcome is a big ass TOLD YOU! I feel vaguely disconcerted that I have had such a visceral reaction to schadenfreude. My immediate impulse was to find those that were the worst and lambaste them into oblivion.
The disbelief comes from Hillary Clinton actually losing. I am somewhat fearful of a Trump driven presidency, but not as much as I was about a Clinton presidency. The sense of dodging a bullet is very real. So here's to One Term Trump and his nincompoopery. Let's kick some ass and take names - and from this election we certainly have too many names.

I saw it where I am, but I don't know what the policies were which made this happen. I thought HVF was supposed to fund the Coordinated Campaigns (since Hillary's campaign declined to participate as Obama did and other Dems top of the ticket). Best I can tell, HVF punted. You got any data?

There's another article somewhere. But they put Hillary's treasurer up at the DNC, and the state parties had to ship the donations to her, then she sent them 1% back. The 99% paid for Hillary campaign efforts in a number of ways.

"But a POLITICO analysis of Federal Election Commission records shows that very little money from the victory fund went to the states after that point.
Between the creation of the victory fund in September and the end of last month, the fund had brought in $142 million, the lion’s share of which — 44 percent — has wound up in the coffers of the DNC ($24.4 million) and Hillary for America ($37.6 million), according to a POLITICO analysis of FEC reports filed this month. By comparison, the analysis found that the state parties have kept less than $800,000 of all the cash brought in by the committee — or only 0.56 percent."
