Good morning. Thanks for reading & have a nice one. CA is
just too scenic and such not to get out and about when the weather is nice, hence we are away a lot.

Good day all
My walking partner is on vacation, so walking is not as easy or interesting solo. I also tend to go shorter when I am alone. Today, I did 3.5 miles and then hubby and I walked up to the 100th birthday celebration of the Silvermont mansion. The mansion was the home to Joseph and Elizabeth Silversteen and their three daughters, Miriam, Dorothy, and Adelaide. Although all three daughters were married, none of them had any children so shortly before the death of Dorothy, the last surviving daughter, she donated the mansion to Transylvania County. At that point, the mansion had fallen into severe disrepair. The story of the mansion and its renovation is in the link above.
The Silversteens were the richest people in town during their era and supported the community in various ways, such as covering the cost for paving the first roads in Brevard. Unfortunately, an unexpected rain shower came up when we walked to see the celebration. One of the highlights for me is the tour of the second floor where supporters of the renovation of the mansion have recreated rooms as they were in the days when the Silversteens lived there. Much of the living and dining room furniture is original to the mansion.
I hope everyone is having a good day today.

And a good day to you too, gg. Sorry it rained on your
walk, but it sounds like you found it to be worth it anyway.
