Russiagate fails again

Scary Russia failed twice yesterday.
It failed in American elections.

Google and Twitter told the U.S. Congress on Thursday that they did not spot any attempts by Russian agents to spread disinformation on their sites when voters headed to the polls in Virginia and New Jersey last year.
...Specifically, Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris asked the companies if they had “seen any evidence of state-sponsored information operations associated with American elections in 2017, including the gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey.”
In response, Twitter said it is “not aware of any specific state-sponsored attempts to interfere in any American elections in 2017, including the Virginia and New Jersey gubernatorial elections.”
Google, meanwhile, said similarly that it had “not specifically detected any abuse of our platforms in connection with the 2017 state elections.”
Facebook, however, answered the question — without actually answering it. “We have learned from the 2016 election cycle and from elections worldwide this last year,” the company began in its short reply.

Facebook may not have answered that question, but they answered another question.

Facebook Inc. told a Senate panel that it has detected “only what appears to be insignificant overlap” between targeting of ads and content promoted by a pro-Kremlin Russia group and by the presidential campaign of Donald Trump.
The social-media company said it “does not believe it is in a position to substantiate or disprove allegations of possible collusion” between Russia and the Trump campaign, as part of a written response to questions from the Senate Intelligence Committee released Thursday evening by the panel.
...Facebook said it has no evidence that the Russian Internet Research Agency, which disseminated fake news and ads, targeted its efforts based on U.S. voter registration data.
Their targeting was “relatively rudimentary, targeting broad locations and interests,” the company said.

So how do Democrats react to news like this?

convince Hillary worshipers
that Russia borked Her election win.
We can show them piles of evidence to the
contrary, and they're just going to come back with "fake news."
They're totally convinced "the Russians (or somebody) did it!", becuz they cannot believe their beloved, almost perfect, smarter than everyone, bestest campaigner ever Hillary lost to the orange racist moron. That 3 million more voters voted for Her and she Still lost?! Impossible!
This will linger awhile. Maybe all the way to 2020.

@Wink poll

The news comes as after a Washington Post-ABC poll found nearly half — 49 percent — of Americans believe Trump himself tried to interfere with the Russia investigation in a way that amounts to obstruction of justice. And about a quarter — 26 percent — of Americans believe there is “strong evidence” supporting their belief.

And half of Americans believe the Trump campaign colluded with Russia, according to the poll.

Keep repeating it

@gjohnsit I'm surprised that 50% thought Russia colluded with Trump to steal the election. Is this borne out by other polls?

Or is there something unsettling with the way Romm an Wagner protray Google, Twitter, and Facebook as living , breathing, speaking human beings?
There was no indication there were representatives speaking on behalf of those institutions.
Are we being inoculated, in a subtle way, to think "Corporations are people
too, my friend"?
Maybe I'm a little touchy on the subject.
Thoughts, gjohnsit?
Thanks for the post.

Congressional Democrats call on Facebook, Twitter to urgently investigate and combat Russian bots and trolls

I hear over and over again that Russian hacking is a proven fact, when there are absolutely no proven facts. I'm hearing this from some of my "liberal" friends. It's truly appalling. How do you deal with this as you know that you are about to hear the "17 Intelligence Agencies" lie if you disagree with them? I heard this from my local Congressman, Seth Moulton, verbatim, at a town hall meeting. To me he seemed like a war-mongering asshole, but to the Democrat faithful he was preaching the gospel. Wow, the party of peace is now the party of war. Well, maybe they never really were the party of peace, peace only if it was Republican war. But now they will support any war. "I never met a war I didn't like" the new slogan of the Democrat party.

I think that Hillary started a long term Democrat strategy to recover political clout by riding Russophobia to get back into power. Ironically, if the Republicans actually were smart, they would move to the Left on the war issue. The Dims left more than enough room for the Republicans to be strong on defense and advocate diplomacy and peace.

believe it. She has been prattling and rambling on about this since it first came out..

Caitlyn has been covering Rachel and her propaganda inducing show.

Here she is explaining why Obama had to send troops to countries that surround Russia's borders. First though you have to listen to her rambling on and on about how Stalin used to get dirt on foreigners.

Okay, they said "potentially connected to a propaganda effort by a Russian government-linked organization known as the Internet Research Agency."

On 1/20/18, Twitter sent me the following:

Dear [redacted],

As part of our recent work to understand Russian-linked activities on Twitter during the 2016 U.S. presidential election, we identified and suspended a number of accounts that were potentially connected to a propaganda effort by a Russian government-linked organization known as the Internet Research Agency.

Consistent with our commitment to transparency, we are emailing you because we have reason to believe that you either followed one of these accounts or retweeted or liked content from these accounts during the election period. This is purely for your own information purposes, and is not related to a security concern for your account.

We are sharing this information so that you can learn more about these accounts and the nature of the Russian propaganda effort. You can see examples of content from these suspended accounts on our blog if you're interested.

People look to Twitter for useful, timely, and appropriate information. We are taking active steps to stop malicious accounts and Tweets from spreading, and we are determined to keep ahead of the tactics of bad actors. For example, in recent months we have developed new techniques to identify accounts manipulating our platform, have improved our process for challenging suspicious accounts, and have introduced new measures designed to identify and take action on coordinated malicious activity. In 2018, we are building on these improvements. Our blog also contains more information about these efforts.

People come to Twitter to see what's happening in the world. We are committed to making it the best place to do that and to being transparent with the people who use and trust our platform.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

Ummmmm, to people who mistrust Twitter, they appear to be transparently dishonest and Orwellian... but I suppose that even their best fiends can't find a way to tell them without being accused of being RUSSIANS!!!, these being the new BernieBros/ebil voters-who-didn't-vote-for-Her/DNC that-did-nothing-for-Her-After-Her Leased-Them-for-The-Whole-Election-Cycle, Nomination-And-All, and endless cetera of horrible Losers Of Hillary's Turn AGAIN.

Her was the Wall St. and other PTB favorite. Now they have to run Biden, Hillary-Mini-Me Kamela and all sorts of other psychopathic personalities, in abject terror of Bernie's Presidential run and the ongoing progressive takeover, by Progressives, of the corrupted Dem Party. No wonder they're seeing Red, especially at the long-past-retirement-age of most of these PTB/lackeys. I don't think bi-focals work on the two-Faced members of the Two-Party Trade-off, because they seem unable to see past their own egos in public or in private...
