Retain A Just Nebraska
**Ring** **Ring** :|: Hello? :|: Hello, I am calling for, "Nebraskan's for Public Safety" and {blah, blah, blah} letter writing {blah, blah, blah} Death Penalty :|: I want to eliminate the Death Penalty nationwide! :|: Oh!, would it be okay if I have someone give you a follow-up call. :|: Yes ‽ :|: **Click**
That was my introduction to "Nebraskans for Public Safety" now renamed "Retain a Just Nebraska". I have been donating ($$$) to the cause during the past month. Check it out, they seem to have it together:
Police officers don’t believe the death penalty is an effective deterrent. Police chiefs ranked the death penalty last among effective ways to reduce violent crime.
Maybe you can empathizes with my shock and consternation when (A few minutes ago!) I consulted the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission online report and found the following:

Reinstate? Do you have on now or not? If you do, then ...
That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
Ernie Chambers
In every session for forever Ernie Chambers has introduce a bill to repeal the Death Penalty. Ever year it either failed to advance or failed at some stage. In May 2015, finally is bill to repeal passed! Governor Pete Ricketts vetoed the repeal and the next day by a 30/19 vote the Unicameral overrode his [Redacted] veto! That [Redacted] Governor decided to fight. That piece of [Redacted] used public money to force it to the ballot in November.
The good people at "Retain a Just Nebraska" are campaigning to get out the vote to help defeat the "Reinstate the Death Penalty" "citizen" petitioned ballot measure.
I am spitting nails angry at this [Redacted] . . . and absolutely none of you want to know what fills the [Redacted] tags here. I just hope I never meet [Redacted], ever . . .
must be an error
i am familiar with this org., they are definitely anti-death penalty. Their partner progrm is Nebraskans Against the Death Penalty, or NADP. Now renamed Nebraskans for Alternatves to the Death Penalty (also NADP). They have a website, you could contact them for clarification.
What is with all this renaming?? It drives me crazy.
I am sure that is the case, but
I have lived too long in this state. I am sure there was a simple clerical mistake in the setting up of the official web site for the state of Nebraska. But, I have lost count of the number of times Nebraskan's have Fucked me oops I mean [Redacted] and you know the "fool me once . . . fool me twice" drill.
This win was a looooooog time coming and the fact that it continues . . . . .
I am so glad I will soon be leaving this state and this part of the country. I much prefer living with people where you can speak your mind and have a good old fashioned "clearing of the air" then go on with life. It is so very stifling living with "oh so very nice" people that will politely stab you in the back. The polite (but not friendly) element is large in this region of the country. My dad would say, "count your fingers" after meeting people like so many of these that I know in Nebraska.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of genuinely friendly people in Nebraska. I know them very well, but they are outnumbered.
I agree about the culture here
It is not open or friendly. I grew up in eastern Iowa, where people ARE genuinely friendly, and have lived in many places where people are more open and enjoy voicing their thoughts. In Germany, for example, people generally thrive on arguments and opinion sharing, with no hard feelings. I loved that.
There is some kind of very strong inhibition here, I don't understand it. But, I'm just a newbie, we've only lived here 23 years...
Thanks for the confirmation.
Reality checking is important to me.

I believe this person is against the death penalty.
