THE POLITICAL MOVEMENT - STAY HOME.
1. Do campaign stuff YOU like the most / hate the least.
2. You GOTTA get to know your neighbors. In my home city of Seattle, WA. & in many states, the smallest political unit is the precinct. Work with neighbors on campaign stuff who like what you like / hate the least what you hate the least.
3. DO NOT help any campaign, or political party, or union, or anything which does NOT help you and your neighbors in your precincts.
4. If the meetings and agendas and meeting minutes of the organization are NOT available, online, 3 weeks before a meeting, if there isn't a clear open process for creating the agenda before the 3 week deadline - the "leaders" in this organization aren't on your side, they're trying to use you.
5. DO NOT go doorbell or phonebank or ... people who are more than a 20 minute walk away (given Seattle precincts) until you know which neighbors to work with in your neighborhood.
6. ONLY doorbell / phonebank / rah-rah outside your precinct in a manner which will build LONG term relationships - working with the same people from your precinct with similar interests in the same outside precinct, year after year.
There are 2 more levels, in draft form and unpublished, for of each of the above points. In the next level I should be like the typical political asshole and pretend that MY experience is actually some 10 commandment list of scientific facts - I won't do that. I have been a peeeeee-on or wall flower for lots of campaigns over the decades, and I believe what I'm proposing is valid because of those experiences, and I'm willing to share those experiences in the hopes of being persuasive.
The final level doesn't have persuasion - it is a simple "Good Luck" with future endeavors if you want to continue playing The Game with the manipulative scum I've described in the prior level.
I'm sick of losing to fascists.
I'm sick of having my time wasted by trust fund or trust fund wannabee dilettantes who have proven, over decades, to be the most politically pathetic fucking losers to ever curse a society.
I'm sick of having my time wasted by political / union / whatever "leaders" who are just going to sell me out, and pile insults on me for calling them out for being sell outs.

Happy Holidaze! Time for The New ...

Absolutely!
Engaging with our neighbors should be primary. I also do not care how my neighbors have voted in the past. We find common ground and build.

I talk with neighbors, colleagues and patients
The political is personal, and vice versa. I don't campaign for candidates, although I told a lot of people I was a Bernie supporter when they asked. Normally, though, I talk about how political issues impact people's lives.
Lately, I've been telling my senior patients to keep an eye on the new crowd coming in. They might try to end your Medicare and throw you to the mercy of private insurance companies, I tell them, and if they do that it had better be people their age out in the streets with torches and pitchforks. These idiots count on people like you to vote for them and keep them in power, I go on, and if you're out there protesting they'll back off fast.
Please help support caucus99percent!
There were 4 campaigns in Seattle this year which
I liked - 1433 for a statewide min. wage of $13.50 plus 5 sick days statewide, Pramilia Jayapal for 7th Congressional District, Bernie & then Our Revolution --
ALL turned into Emergency!! Hair On Fire!!! Run! Shout! Phonebank!! Doorbell!!!!! Here There HereHere There ...!!
All my requests to have some street corner rah-rah in my part of Seattle, and I'd even dig up neighbors - all were redirected to some 20 somethings with their AndroidIpadMactinsochRaspberry Whatever The Fuck &, like usual,
the relatively speaking few people I know who participate [20? 60? of them] were pulled in 32 different end of the world!! directions - never mind the bleatings from the Inslee for Governor & Murray for U.S. Senate & HRC campaigns.
I'll continue offering MY services ... in MY hood. Otherwise, fuck 'em.

[p.s. - I'm not complaining about my job as a high school math teacher - it is just that I have found I do NOT have the bandwidth for phone bank & doorbell anyway, I'm so tired. IF I'm going to do something I don't even like, why the hell should I do it to people I'll never see again?
WA. state has a caucus system. In my precinct in March, there were 45 for bernie & 9 for hillary & after the caucus ... there wasn't shit for follow up in Bernie world ... I'm irritated with myself for not taking advantage of the opportunity for sustained, local involvement. oh well.]

let me tell you it is a constant T-rump rally among the regular folk in the deep south. Mighty hard to make inroads. I keep thinking we have to help them shift from thinking government is the problem to the idea that the corporations that own and operate the government are the problem. They can almost see that. They know the news is fake... they ignored MSM and voted T-rump.
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Can't find fault with that
Given the choices of left-over from Y2K Clinton (cold $hit sandwich) or a hot, hefty $hit burger with craziness baked in.
Plus all the sides of heavy breathing from the celebrity folks to keep the plates coming; tv talking heads, pop stars, and the has-beens trotted about. Left and RW punches at hippies (and millenials) as the dinner show all season.
Fighting for democratic principles,... well, since forever
Amen, Amen, Amen seabos84!!!!!!
Having been a Sanders' campaign volunteer here in east central FL, I had a front row seat to the $hrill/Turd Way/Fake Democratic corruption. I also learned that many Reagan democrats and genuine conservatives really liked Bernie. Period. He came off as a true, authentic public servant. People are hungry for that type of politico, especially the young folks. The Gen-Xers, Millennials, etc., know that they're facing a fucked future. They are very angry; they wonder where the American dream went? They turned out in YYYYYUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH numbers to vote for him. They sat out in November cos the 2 choices were that obnoxious. Now, we're stuck with a POTUS who is so stupid he can't correctly spell every word in his tweets. It was either the constipated cretin or $hrill. Worse two POTUS choices in my lifetime. Thank god I'm getting old.
Merry Christmas everyone!! Rec'd!!
Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.
I'm already old and they were the worst two of MY life!
I'll include Wallace '68 in that!
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
I think I'm going to opt for supporting issues and fighting
issues, and opt out of supporting any more candidates. Unless they pay me.
No more phone banking, no more signature collecting, no more knocking on doors!

Thanks! They all disappointed me.
I realize nobody's perfect, but none of them had the spine I thought they should have.
