Old Log Cabin
They had an old restored log cabin in a park by my parents house. Here are a couple shots of it.
A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world. Oscar Wilde
Wonderful detail
this sort of thing fascinates me

Here you go....
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
That's beautiful
I especially like how the soft light caresses the textures of worn stone. Where is that?
Pompeii
It really is a tourist hellhole, but this was in March so I was able to get a street scene without hordes of people.
Still 70 F. though. Southern Italy is very nice in March, although you wouldn't know it looking at the natives grasping overcoats.
I was just wandering around in a light sweater.

It looks like the perfect time
to have been there.
What Janis B said
love the light - also the cloud really adds to the conposition. I would love the chance to go to Pompeii - even with the tourists

A new addition to our local community gallery
I like the transformation of your building from its appearance on a crisp winters day to a slightly uneasy nocturnal atmosphere.
The second shot has some interesting lines and light.
I like it.

Great eye
both compositions just work and the light is perfect. I especially like the first one.

Thank you both ..
I have been looking through the lens for a long time. It is one of my greatest pleasures.
I think that part of the success of this building is the great deal of consideration it gave to the light. These photos were taken on two different days, in two different months. I will look more closely at how the light is registered at other times.
It shows :)
The one thing architects and photographers seem to have in common is a love of light. (at least the ones I've communicated with)

"A love of light" is a wonderful common base to communicate with.
Astoundingly beautiful Janis!

I'm glad we found a place to connect again
photographically and otherwise.
I'm going to post below, the work of a NZ photographer I think you'll all enjoy.
Obscured architecture
a neo-Gothic church behind tall trees, Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria BC.

Marilyn, this is a photo (found online)
of a church that one prominently sees in Auckland, that your image reminded me of. The similarity is striking. I've also realised over the years that there is a strong connection between Vancouver and Auckland.
They loved neo-Gothic for churches
up until mid-20th century anyway - sadly the stones in our cathedral are not granite, they are manufactured. We can tell because some of them are falling apart at the base of the church. As an ex-Catholic, I find the Anglican interior very austere. The Queen visited this church on her last visit to Victoria.
To thine own self be true.
Beautiful
Images like these really make me want ot come to BC. On a different note I was going to post some images of the university on this thread but I may do local churches instead - there are lots of them near where I live.

The first first photographer,
whose work I saw after arriving in New Zealand was Laurence Aberhart. Here are two of his architectural photographs of churches, one undemoniational and one Maori.
Just looked
at some of his work - like it a lot.

Architecture pics
or, to be more accurate pictures of buildings. I did plan to get out this week and photograph some local buildings with a good ultra wide lens and post some 'professional' images. Well, the weather has been crap so here are some old photos instead:
