The facility announced today that it is opening a new gender affirmation program for transgender patients.

Hahnemann will offer both female-to-male and male-to-female gender confirming surgeries. The launch of the Gender Reassignment Surgical Program, according to Hahnemann, represents a first for an academic medical center in the region.

The hospital has partnered with Main Line-based board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kathy L. Rumer, DO, FACOS to offer several types of surgeries focused on gender reassignment for patients transitioning from both female to male and from male to female. The surgeries include those focused on the face, breasts, gender reassignment and more.

Of course with ACA dismantled, transpeople will likely be unable to afford medical treatment unless we can somehow manage to overcome the discrimination usually present in the employment thing.
