Persecute The Unbelievers

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2yN_HIxLzI]

This is where we are in what can be very loosely termed as current political discourse.

After years of calling for us to join around the neo-liberal campfire in a triangulation love-fest of bipartisanship designed to screw the maximum number of people at any time. A period where no war was deemed to be a bad war, sigh the good old days where both parties rallied around bombing the foreigner. Wedge issues were merrily tossed to the wind with loud exclamations of "we are the least bad" and "we are the lesser of two evils".

We have now entered a period of declining popularity of this love-in and the two parties have become so entrenched in group think that any contradiction causes them to reach for the virtual "loyalty oath". You are either with us or you are against us, nuance phooey and you can stick your warnings where the sun don't shine. It's your fault we lost, not that we needed you then, now or in the future! What do you mean change our ways, there is nothing wrong with our ways you alt-left bimbo! Our tent is big, huge even, get out unbeliever!!

These are not political parties, these are glorified cliques, do you remember those from high-school or very badly run companies where you have had the great displeasure to work? Usually when you fuck up a project there is a review, a where did we go wrong moment, the occasional firing and even breaking up of the team. In our duopoly this is unacceptable, it's the voters that failed the party, the party can never fail. In fact it is probably your fault, yes you, catch up! Oh wait, now we can fuck up everyone, let's blame.......

Someone else entirely, we can have enquiries, special councils, lots of leaks and counter leaks. We can get the spooks involved that give them someone neutral to cheer on, GO USA, CIA, FBI, NSA et al, you have never fucked us or anyone else over before! The US and Russia have been playing the same bloody game since at least 1945 and only now it starts to bother you? Dear god, you could have saved hundreds of millions of lives if you had realized it sooner.

One of the faithful asked me "are you happy now" as if I was responsible for their collective failings, why the fuck would I be happy? The sponsors are winning again and their own part of the duopoly bears equal responsibility in this. Happy? Sheesh.

Just a thought.

either way the elites have bought the government

Our government doesn’t in any way resemble its original concept of a republic. It doesn’t even resemble a democracy at this point. Since FDR and specifically since LBJ, we’ve become a welfare/warfare state. Since Bush II we’ve devolved into a corporate fascist surveillance socialist state. Despite rhetoric about free market capitalism, both parties have embraced socialism. The super-rich, bankers, corporate executives, liberals and conservatives came to the realization socialism disguised as capitalism fills their coffers at a much higher rate than true free market capitalism.

I trust you realize the right-wing cant of the piece you quoted.

Here's a few of the shortcomings in it:

1. There is no such thing as a "free market"; therefore, "true free-market capitalism" cannot exist. Markets are either controlled by the People (government regulation) or they're gamed (the law of the jungle where the strongest make the rules for everybody else). Laissez-faire capitalism is always the latter case.

2. What we have in America is socialism for the richest, with laissez-faire capitalism (as described above, law of the jungle) for everybody else. Essentially, the laissez-faire bullies are being subsidized by taxpayers to do their bullying of the rest of us.

3. The existence of a robust social safety net is odious only to those who want to be the gamers of the markets; this has nothing to do with the captivity of our government by the richest of the rich. Never-ending warfare, on the other hand, has everything to do with it.

@thanatokephaloides so of course "free markets" don't exist.
The labeling of it as such is just for appearance.

and capitalism is a failed ism, that's why it's
used by the elite as the excuse for austerity, hence
that's why they need socialism.

@thanatokephaloides It never made sense to me that the elites would concern themselves with the safety net even though it appears so coming from Koch and others. I was once told by a minion speaking directly for an Elite that "poverty programs" are there to keep the poor in their place and that it was my job to keep them there. I put the phone down and stared at it for a long time trying to shake the impression that I had just heard a voice from another planet. But it is not the elite, it's the gamers: the mad dogs in the pit. That makes that the pieces fit much better. "I did not know until this day that it was the gamers all along." Thank you, Sir Late Pate, I am most grateful.

@thanatokephaloides A free market can't be a rigged market, and boy howdy, is this one rigged.

Like you, I also object to the use of the word "socialism" as a synonym for "tyranny." It's not just right-wing thinking; it's lazy, sloppy thinking. Like much of the rest of political discourse these days, it bears the same relationship to the intellectual civic obligations of a citizen in a Republic that a McDonald's Happy Meal bears to a nutritious, home-cooked stew.

And at that, you just might have unjustly disparaged the McDonald's Happy Meal! Wink

(Still would prefer the stew, though!)

I say have alittle silver and have a small stash of cash because cash money is only 5 percent of our money supply , the rest is digital. ammo can last decades. The inherent value of ammo is you will need it to protect the other valuables you have. Firearms are worthless without ammo.

The Nazis are going to be the story of the month while TPTB continue working behind the scenes and ripping what is left of the middle class off, and especially those of that rely on social programs. These programs have been teed up so that the republicans can knock them down the fairway. Just like Clinton teed the financial crisis up for Bush the lessor to hit.

Does anyone believe that the mayhem in Charlottesville wasn't on every spy agencies radar months before they arrived there this weekend? Nope. No way, no how, they knew that this was going to happen and they let it happen because they wanted it to happen.

The leaders of BLM are constantly under illegal surveillance just in case they are going to try another protest because they have to get their military police in place to make it as miserable and violent as they can.

So yep, this is going to be the topic of the month and it has knocked off the deflating Russian propaganda off the front page. Even ToP is only covering this topic.

We are being played. Again. Unfortunately. real people were hurt and one was killed.
Damn them for their games.

In the heat of the moment, the outrage du jour, it's all to easy to forget to ask who benefits. Someone always benefits, even if we don't see it at the time.

We need to keep our eye on the ball, not the naked jerk running around in the outfield. Oh, we are so easily distracted.

Thanks for the reminder!

are doing, there isn't much we can do to stop them.
The first time that people tried to focus the country's anger on the banks that ruined the global economy, it was broken up by the most brutal way possible.

The second time that people tried to interfere with the globalist's goals was the DAPL protests and TPTB became even more dangerous to the protesters. They literally could have killed someone when they sprayed them with water in those temperatures. Or killed someone with their "less lethal" weapons.

This type of action is not going to be tolerated in any way.
This will continue to get worse.

I think we need to come up with a few terms of our own. I would gnaw off my arm before I would call myself a progressive or a liberal. DailyKos and the Dems have thoroughly poisoned that well. The alt-left thing is galling, particularly when hurled by six figure incomes living in Oakland and calling themselves progressive. @ssholes comes to mind, but it isn't anywhere near clever, original, or expressive enough.

Meanwhile the oligarch sociopaths are laughing as the citizens fight amongst themselves. Yes, white supremacy is horrible, but the real reason these racist idiots are blaming everyone for their lousy lives is in reality the result of the oligarchs and their economic system that throws away people. And it is to the oligarchs benefit that the people fight amongst each other instead of directing their anger at the real culprits. Keep on condemning racism but take the real fight to the a$$hole oligarchs who couldn’t care less about life itself.

I can't argue with that.

Nor to this reply to the above comment:

In America people are used like tissue paper before they are born, during and even after they die. Exploitation of humans and natural resources by any means possible without regard to morality or human decency. Healthcare is a prime example of the total disregard for human life. Food comes next seeing how corporate farming and the food industry treats animals, the earth and those who eat the factory “foods” . Massive preventable death and diseases like cancers, diabetes, asthma, mental illnesses, ADHD, heart attacks are all too common and on rapid increase in America today.
All for PROFITS no matter how it is made.
