Path forward

There are many essays today on where we go from here. A lot of good comments have been posted and my intent is to merely provide perspective. It has been mentioned that we are just past the halfway point and there are a lot of delegates left. The media, Clinton campaign and DNC will be trying to shut down the campaign and force Bernie out of the race. They made a strategic error early by having elected officials go all in with Hillary early, at this point he does not have other politicians calling and telling him to get out of the race. His donations are all people powered so large contributors will not be pulling the funding. If we keep it funded his campaign will continue to battle on the airwaves and on the ground with rally's. The local media will pick up coverage due to the size of the events. The national news is owned corporately and have a vested interest in Hillary or another Republican in the White House. Either one is a vote for the status quo for them and a win/win solution.

We are at the point we expected to be on March 15th plus or minus a few delegates. Winning 3 states in the Midwest yesterday by small margins would have reinforced the narrative that Hillary represented the South and nowhere else, but the delegate match would not have changed a great deal. The reality is she is supported by Dems over 55, who are low information voters who base thei decision on elected officials and MSM news. We have to redouble our efforts to get Bernie's plans in the hands of these voters and to rally's.

The terrain moving forward will have more millennial and will be more receptive to the message. If we increase the percentage by which we win in these states we have a good shot at the nomination. If Bernie is in the White House we have to stay active to support his legislative agenda. If it's Hillary or another Republican we have to stay active to handcuff their agenda.

The other factor to consider is we are in the infancy of the movement even if we elect Bernie. The next phase is fund down ballot Berniecrats at all levels and develop funds to primary incumbents who do not follow the progressive ideology. We will have to stay active with communication to lawmakers as well as public meetings and rallys. This is the very early first phases of the battle. The question to ask yourselves are you committed to stay the course and effect the needed changes? The current elected officials of both parties have a vested interest in the status quo and will not make the changes. The only option is to keep the movement alive, active and advocating the new progressive agenda.

But I will do my best to help.

I do have a question though... is there a list of down ballot Berniecrats?

You have been an active contributor on this site and I enjoy reading your essay. Resources are an issue for everyone, that is why time and talent are as important as money. Thanks for staying involved.

The campaign has not developed a list to my knowledge. They have mentioned candidates for state and federal office who have endorsed Bernie. Absent a list ask your local candidates where they stand on single payer health insurance, free tuition for public universities and community colleges, criminal justice reform. If enough people start asking it will have an effect. I plan on doing this now that our state primary is over.

It is time for US to build the pressure and be heard.
