Parkland, Florida school shooting--coincidences and cowardice

Wait til the dust has settled, or in this case, wait til the smoke has dissipated. On first inspection, it seemed that the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland Florida Feb. 14, 2018 was just another senseless act of some mentally unstable person cracking under the pressure of modern life. There is plenty of that going around. Big high school, with greater than 3000 students. Large school grounds. MSNBC falsely reporting that the shooter was OUTSIDE the school, shooting in. Why? How could such an egregious bit of "reporting" occur and not be corrected for many hours? Sniff, sniff.

FBI and local law enforcement agencies receiving numerous calls days and even weeks in advance that the shooter, Cruz, was arming himself with guns and ammunition, even posting electronically that he was going to shoot up a school. But all such information was studiously ignored by Sheriff depart and FBI agents, too busy searching for Russian spies hiding under people's beds. Why? Sniff, sniff.

Four armed sheriff deputies on scene before the killing stopped but none go inside. Why? Sniff, sniff.

Coincidences at the Parkland shooting Reposted from the Community Forum.

No sooner than I published that article, I came across another about Broward County Sheriff Israel that generated more doubt in my mind that almost nothing about this story, other than 17 deaths is legitimate.

The sheriff has also faced corruption accusations: department employees routinely attended campaign events while on the clock for their taxpayer-funded positions, a Local10 investigation found in 2016.

A Sun-Sentinal investigation the same year found that the sheriff had routinely handed out taxpayer-funded jobs to political supporters. The sheriff’s response at the time: “lions don’t care about the opinions of sheep.”

Israel is now facing sharp criticism for his department’s repeated failures to stop Stoneman Douglas school shooter Nikolas Cruz. The sheriff’s office was warned repeatedly that Cruz was a school shooter in the making, by both his relatives and those close to him, but failed to act to prevent the shooting.

So, the predictable synthesis of this: in the corrupt Broward County, home of DWS, who is buddies with HRC, who in turn is buddies with Sheriff Israel, a false flag operation, psychopathically sacrificing 17 lives and permanently affecting dozens more, in order to strip citizens of their guns.
Taken one step further, such an action would make subservience to the authoritarian state much easier to achieve.

No, I am not a Republican.
No, I do not like Donald Trump.
No, I do not like Trump's domestic agenda.
Yes--I hate Hillary Clinton and every thing she stands for.
Yes--I despise people who still support her, or perhaps I should pity them--or both.

End the wars, externally.
Win the war internally--defeat a "purple revolution" or "soft coup" or "Deep State plot" or whatever you want to call it. The little freedom we retain is in the balance.

Hawks? Doves?

@The Aspie Corner I have experienced, during the course of my life, a terrible loss.
A horrible change has come over this country, politically and culturally, from roughly 1978-the present.
Saying "it was always like this, you fool" denies my loss and my historical experience, and replaces it with an essential and inevitable, rather than a historical and choice-based, explanation for the rotten events that have been happening.

It basically lets every bastard that has engaged in this social engineering off the hook except the original ones in the 18th century.

Caller told FBI Florida shooting suspect 'going to explode'

Carlson talked about this in the video. The woman who called gave his name and also spelled it out to the person she was talking to. She also told him that Cruz had been mutilating animals which is the classic sign of a serial killer in the making. The FBI has said that they couldn't find the person who she was talking about.

I never know what to believe about reports after the fact, but it's rumored the the secret service had gone to the school 3 weeks before the event and changed the security protocols. Fact or fiction? But I can see why people are calling this a false flag event. Add in the 4 deputies who stayed outside while 17 people were murdered, yeah I can see why people are thinking this.

@on the cusp I view this almost certain false flag tragedy as a Democratic or PTB attempt to disarm the public. It is more likely to be of the former type because not only has it failed but failed miserably. The FBI and DOJ, already in a state of well-earned distrust will be even riper pickings for Trump to dismantle--especially if blame can be traced back to Rosenstein (not likely) or Wray (more likely). It may even light a fire under Sessions' ass to either get up and lead OR get out.

@Alligator Ed

Going by 'the government is to blame' presentation I've just seen, it makes me wonder if it's being used to further diminish faith - not in the corruption of the current system but - in the democratic principles of actual government and of what's supposed to be public-protective law and order, something the 'right-wing' propagandists appears to me to have been working on for decades, in the interests of public acceptance of a straightforward 'might makes right' society, presented as based on the notion of gun ownership signifying 'might' - albeit intended to be one where only The Right People have the money to buy the might to do as they please, which is pretty much the case now.

The promoted shift traditionally seems to be toward 'every man for himself', 'buy more guns - protect yourself/your family' 'drown government in a bathtub' and while the latter might be a metaphorically good idea regarding the current lot of corrupt PTB and lackeys, a good government and legal system protects everyone from would-be predators and maintains public safety, whereas TPTB wish to predate freely with public acceptance of this as being 'normalized', to use police forces - which might then be no longer public but privately hired mercenary forces belonging/answering to local 'political' (effectively) 'war-lords' - not to protect but only to control the public when their employer(s) desire squelching of protest/rioting to be done. And in too-many cases, this seems to have been already operating in the US, at least for those currently deemed most vulnerable.

Because the desired shift occurring over decades of corporate media indoctrination on what we used to term the 'right-wing' is also seemingly steering people back to something like feudalism, but with the obligations all owed upward and no law respected by Those Who Matter, as is already sadly common.

Perhaps it's only the one outlet promoting 'the government is to blame' meme, but I've seen too many examples of various news outlets identically promoting talking-points not to kinda leap to this suspicion, if on (so far) no basis here beyond this tendency. And the signs are certainly there of another potential set-up, perhaps to help keep the US population too scared to focus on the stream of disasters being prepared for them, their country, the world, by TPTB and enacted/authorized by Trump, to make these abuses 'legal'.

Haven't watched many of these, (there's a series; I've only listened to the first three of those posted below, and started on the next) but have been beginning to wonder what act of mass violence in the US isn't being set-up/let through/done by the various PTB/agencies of the corrupt within US government so that terrorism can be used on the terrorized of America as an excuse for so much greater repression and horror.

And exactly how routine such 'expedient' murders as these obviously-not-'suicides' are.

Kenneth Trentadue was murdered in the Oklahoma City Federal Transfer Center in August, 1995. The authorities ruled it a suicide. Join us this week on The Corbett Report as we explore the incredible story of Jesse Trentadue, Kenney’s brother, who has spent the last two decades working to find out what really happened to his brother…and how it connects to the Oklahoma City Bombing.

And, regarding that following, lo and behold, 'Saddam's WMD' were indeed made up of whole cloth and Iraq was, indeed, invaded on a lie.

But the post mortem information of Dr. David Kelly was to be kept secret for 70 years... as is all other medical information and unpublished evidence.

Tony Blair was to appear at an inquiry regarding the Iraq invasion within days of this announcement.

What's was released a few months later by the UK government apparently indicates that Dr. Kelly's injuries were self-inflicted.

Cameron says no need for an inquiry - and man, does Blair look nervous being quizzed on-camera about it!

And in 2011, the inquest was refused, on the grounds that any finding but suicide would not be found.

In presumably 2017, new information has apparently come out.

Corbett suggests that there may have been other issues than the obvious. Shows a 2009 CBC clip: Anthrax War.

Dr. Kelly had a very high security rating, was both microbiologist and UN weapons inspector, and also briefed/advised the CIA and Canadian Intelligence, as well as British security. He had dealings, and the UK government was linked, with apartheid South Africa's Project Coast seeking to develop an 'ethnic germ weapon' to attack Black people and illegal experiments were conducted on British servicemen at Porton Down's secret Biological and Chemical Weapon complex, where Dr. Kelly had been Head of Microbiology, with charges recommended against scientists there by investigating (must be Wiltshire, I'd think, but says Wisltshire police, presumably a typo,) although, while Dr. Kelly was centred in a media storm, attacked over questioning the narrative of 'Saddam's WMD', the Crown Prosecution Service decided to drop the idea of charging the scientists responsible for the deaths and injuries experimentally inflicted on British soldiers between 1939 and 1989, days before Dr. David Kelly's death. And he'd thought of writing a book, although through someone else, and been told that he wouldn't get away with it...

@Anja Geitz All that seems currently provable is that they had ample information and warnings and did nothing; and that, when the crisis was actually happening, they dragged their asses until most of the damage and death had been dealt out.

That might not make this a false flag, but at the very least it makes it an almost criminal level of incompetence and negligence--so extreme a negligence I don't blame the people who are speculating that it was a false flag. Certainly law enforcement seemed uninterested in even stopping it, much less preventing it.

How many minutes did the shooting actually take?

The shooter killed 17 people in 4 minutes

How long before the deputy outside actually realizes there was a shooting going on inside the building? It could have taken him 2 minutes before the realization hit him . Then he hesitated 2 minutes and it was over.

The other deputies likely arrived when it was over. By the time they were notified and appeared on the scene it could have been 4 minutes.

The emphasis on these guys right now is a distraction from the real cause: the availability of assault weapons. Even the Hulk in the WH has realized this and is playing it up.

The availability of assault weapons isn't the root cause, although significant. Widespread despair amongst our school-age youth is the underlying cause here.

As gjohnsit and I discussed in his Essay (linked to his name here), there was a time when one could buy a semiautomatic assault rifle by mail, anonymously, and we didn't have several massive school shootings every Presidential term. Now, I'm not a gun insaniac. I don't advocate a complete void of restrictions on gun purchases. But the fact-based despair in our high school populations needs to be addressed and cured; and nothing is being done to address that cause of the mass shooting problem at all.

From my linked Comment:

These killings are being driven by peculiarly American miseries, which is why the solutions which seem to work everywhere else don't work here even when attempted. No other nation on Earth resorts to prolonged foreign wars without necessity, expecting its citizens of these years to go fight and die for no good reason. No other nation categorically denies whole generations of its kids access to decent, family-supporting employments without subjecting them to decades of debt bondage for the "privilege". No other nation essentially guarantees the failure of every new family founded during the years most biologically appropriate for starting a family, the late teens and early twenties. No other nation insists that medicine be operated for private corporate profit, which means Americans in their late teens and early twenties don't have real access to it, either. And it is no secret to modern high schoolers that their chances of a happy, prosperous, and successful family life hover just north of nil.

Swiss citizens are issued assault weapons, to keep as their own, as part of their mandatory military service. And they can also inherit their parents' weapons so issued. But I've never heard of a mass school shooting in Switzerland. Have you?

They sure seem to be common enough here.......

@thanatokephaloides Young people, whose dreams and aspirations are visibly crushed by ''the System", have frequently defaulted from "accepted norms of behavior", such as passively accepting austerity, lack of social support, two-tier justice, and flagrant corruption so obvious now that one doesn't need a high school education to appreciate. Juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, minor crime are frequent accompaniments of the distorted society in which we live. Is it then a surprise that some with the least ability to control their reactive violent tendencies act upon them. The FBI (if you can believe anything they say now) states that in 2017 there were 254 gun deaths (they must not have included Chicago) and 1500 deaths by stabbing. That's what they said, tho more likely those figures refer to only one month, not the whole year.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal There was a family that had warned local cops about the two killers. Nothing done. When it came out the local cops threatened to accuse the kid who called in the warning as a conspirator.

The cops at Columbine waited 47 minutes before entering the school building and by that time, it was all over. The FBI looked at these types of shooting and found that average time the shooter is "active" is about 12 minutes. In fact, supposedly policy changed to have cops immediately engage a shooter than build a perimeter, etc. And what did the cops doe in FL? Did not go in.

After Columbine happened, I was talking to a SWAT trainer and leader who defended the actions of the cops. He said in training there are theree priorities: your safety, the safety of the good guys, and the safety of the bad guys.

That is, the safety of cops is more important than the lives of victims. We see this expressed in the legal system and juries which acquit obvious cold blooded murders. The cop has the right to kill anybody they precieve as a threat--EVEN INNOCENENT people as the implicit belief is their lives are more important than the people they serve, including children who are being gunned down.

I don't think the powers that be are concerned about "our guns". They are controlling us too well with their nationalistic hoohaw and "support our troops!" Add to that the divide and conquer mentality, red v blue, anti immigrant, etc. It's our history to be controlled since industrialization, with the union busting.

And any gun control measures passed down the road will not take anyone's guns away! Just paperwork and limits.

If and when the shirt hits the fan the military will take over. I'm sure they have contingencies about, "our guns!"

@p cook
is a major problem.

I'm not sure wider society, who are trained to think of cops unilaterally as "good guys," really grasp how antithetical to the idea of cops "protecting and serving" that is ingrained in our heads, this change is to their approach. They're wantonly killing mentally ill, black and brown women and men, while walking around pumped on steroids, carrying racist baggage, and basically scared of their own shadow.

The Only Good Cop, Serpico, addressed this in a Dec 2014 special editorial in the NY Daily News:

Was I surprised by the Staten Island grand jury? Of course not. When was the last time a police officer was indicted?

This is the use of excessive force for no apparent reason on a guy who is selling loosie cigarettes; what is the threat to your well-being? If a police officer's life is in danger, he has every right to use every force in his means to defend himself.

In the old days, they used to put a gun or a knife on somebody after a shooting. Now they don't even bother.

But today, we have cops crying wolf all the time. They testify "I was in fear of my life," the grand jury buys it, the DA winks and nods, and there's no indictment.

I remember a guy I worked with back in the 81st Precinct, an ex-Marine named Murphy. He would not turn out for roll call until his shoes were spit-shined, and his uniform was creased.

One night, he was called to a family dispute. There was a man waiting behind the door, and he came out with a butcher knife and slashed Murphy's face.

Murphy could have emptied his gun in him. Instead, he disarmed the man and put him in cuffs. What's happening today in the performance of some officers can only be described as sheer cowardice. They don't belong in the uniform, and they shouldn't have weapons — whether they're cops or not.

I hear cops saying all the time — and they're proud of it — "shoot first, ask questions later."

They say, "It's my job to get home safe." Yes, but not at the cost of a human being who never posed a threat to you in the first place.

There are many reasons why I think there's a convincing (albeit radical) argument to be made to Abolish The Police.

If you're interested in the subject I'd recommend starting with CUNY professor Alex Vitale's expertise on the subject.

A student says he was walking in the hall with the alleged shooter when gun shots came from three different directions.

Multiple sources told CNN they'd been told a shooter drill was that day and to expect to hear blanks being fired.

Sniff sniff.

@Battle of Blair Mountain I have only had limited contact with FBI agents, but they have been either completely disinterested and they immediately say why, or so good, so thorough, they are frightening. They have labs, experts, surveillance, undercover, there is just nothing out there to compare to their resources.
The reports to them didn't spur any action. This does not comport with any contact I have had with agents in 32 years.
As for the local deputies, I am not convinced yet that they intentionally or cowardly lollygagged. We don't know what they could hear. If one assumes they heard rapid fire, while armed with only a service pistol, they would not have gone in without calling in back up. Those calls would be available for us.
If ,magically, the shooter went to "work" on a drill day, how would he get that lucky info?
That is where we will stall out.

@on the cusp Most often, like Las Vegas, about one week before the event. But in the case of 9/11 on the day of the event. And on this Valentine's Day Massacre--only a few hours before the event.

Coincidence, like my title says? No, I think not.

I am flabbergasted and shocked that you think this is a false flag

Everything that has happened thus far speaks to me far more how our toxic society breeds sociopathic behavior and extreme despair/anger in those who can feel empathy.
How the sociopathic behavior of white kids are easily poo pooed as not a potential threat.
How for all the bravado many people in the security field put forward they truly are bully cowards.
How our politicians are sociopaths willing to use an event like the shooting to their own political agenda.

Please enlighten me. Also explain the theory that the Vegas shooting was a false flag too.

@BrutallyHonest Because if it isn't a false flag, it is an example of gross incompetence and almost criminal negligence on the part of the police. It could be either, in my opinion.

@BrutallyHonest The essay is self-explanatory about the Broward Cowards. They have "plausible deniability" because they did not foment the shootings, they merely opened the door and told Cruz to walk right in, we won't bother you.

gives me pause, though I'm undecided on the "deep state" theory. At first glance I was overjoyed to see and hear those high school students. They were angry, yes, and aggressive, yes, and they openly called out Trump and conservative apologists for assault weapons. They were entitled and politicized, and I said to myself that this country needs more like them, young as they are. Then I later heard that another of the students has become a spokesperson for a "bipartisan" criticism of gun ownership: he appears to be more favored by the media. They are trying to make it a non-political or a supra-political issue. Then I learned, in a report praising the students' "activism," that this particular high school "shows us what high school education in America can be." (Hmmm, so why isn't all education in America like this?) Further, that students at Douglas are taking courses in Rhetoric and writing 50-page reports in those courses. Then I looked up the median home price in Parkland, Florida: $600K, median price. These are privileged, well-coddled kids and it's still America. Not totally without hope, but still in need of much more than a "top-down" politicization of its youth.

The USA has more guns per person than any other country in the world incl. Switzerland.
The US also has more death by firearms than any other nation. There's a correlation.
