Frankly, I think that dogs don't like mailmen because... well, because sometimes they bring bad news. Animals sense those things, you know.

@QMS I was 18 when Kent State happened. I was involved in protesting the war, dating the first successful conscientious objector in that county. We are on a vacation in Colorado, and tonight is a freeze. We packed accordingly. Meanwhile, home, 13 hrs. drive away, will be in the high 90s for a week. I just dread it!
You always find the most interesting and charming art to post. Always!
This Ukraine war, the threat of nukes, it is just nothing new. Been living my life with the threat, that clock, and listening to people try to make money on ways to survive it. I have decided to just not give thought to something that is out of my hands, and over which I can't come up with any way to influence anyone towards sanity. Can't see where instantaneous incineration would be painful. Seems a quick way out.
The abortion battle distracts a lot from what is happening in the economy, the war, the COVID and VAX issues, huh?

because the dog thinks they scare them away day after day. Nothing like success to motivate animals.

Glad to hear you're making progress on your projects, QMS. I've got to smooth out some of the rub board ripples on the gravel road today. Then going to play music with a buddy this evening. Also have some musician friends coming over Saturday. I'm rusty, but nothing like a few sessions to clean things up a bit. Glad things are opening up again.

Putin has called for the obvious strategy, IMO, refusing to sell their resources to "unfriendly" countries. https://news.cgtn.com/news/2022-05-03/Putin-signs-decree-on-economic-ret...

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on retaliatory economic sanctions in response to the "unfriendly actions of certain foreign states and international organizations," the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
...
According to the decree, Russia will forbid the export of products and raw materials to people and entities sanctioned.
...
Russia released a list of countries and regions that are "unfriendly" to Russia in March, including the U.S., Britain, European Union member states, Japan, Canada, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and Ukraine.

So no fertilizer, nickel, wheat, oil, gas, and so on for those trying to "weaken" Russia as DoD secretary Raytheon clearly stated is the goal of the Ukraine/coup/conflict.

This will bite US in the ass.

Thanks for the OT!

With that out of the way, I should address the situation out in the yard, I guess:

A VOICELESS FLOWER

IN-LISTENING EAR
ONITSURA

Sorry about the all-caps but the tech trick I used to import much of my fledgling database of Haiku translated the source font in that manner.

Speaking of fledglings, we have yet another batch of chickadees squeeking and chipping in the tree just outside my office window. That's at least the third batch so far this year and feeder maintenance is becoming a major occupation here, both as to activity and cost, but it is all for the better.

Morning errands today, weather pleasant but warming, AQI is good, pollen moderate and UV index is high. Have just set up an air purifier after the last couple of years of bad air and fires, so now, naturally, good air sets in. Heh.

be well and have a good one
