But yay looks like a great place to be. Is that the sun rising? I got freaked out when I was back east and it rose over water instead of setting like it does here.
Have fun.

Glad you are taking a break! When still teaching, we always loved to take this brief holiday and go to Big Bend. Great time for camping and enjoying the wonderful outdoors. Once we retired from teaching, it was Lake Powell and Zion. Lake Powell was perfect because most of the big boats were docked and so was nice to paddle across from the campground to the other side and walk around those huge towering rock formations. After a few days of that, we would head to Zion and enjoy more towering rock formations and ride our bikes up the road to the Zion Lodge. Not so many people and always were treated to turkeys strutting around.
Enjoy your time off!

Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
They have a nightly sundown party with assorted jugglers and clowns at that parking lot facing west. Quite the spectacle. Even if the green flash doesn't happen. The yoga peaceniks and fried on acid brains on a stilted pogo stick are quite entertaining.

I'm guessing that is sunset...
but you also get nice sunrises from the panhandle region of the gulf.
