'Where’s Biden hidin’? EVEN CNN begins asking questions, as president goes record time without press conference with Q&A', 8 Mar, 2021, RT.com

“Joe Biden has gone longer without giving a press conference with questions and answers than any US president in modern history. Now the elation of his inauguration’s worn off, even his allied media are beginning to wonder why.

Monday marked Joe Biden’s 47th day in office, and also his 47th without appearing before the press to take questions. The president has sat down to several taped interviews, and has given brief soundbites to reporters at events, but not a single proper Q&A session has materialized.”

‘WATCH: White House abruptly cuts live feed after Biden says ‘happy to take questions’ at virtual event’, 4 Mar, 2021, Rt.com

"While Biden appeared somewhat confused about whether a live Q&A was in store for the event, critics have suggested the White House ended the feed to keep him from ad-libbing his answers, as he’s been prone to gaffes during unscripted – and sometimes scripted – statements in the past."

could spare us from kamala, and i was trying to remember who his other contenders were, and found at this Rag Lifezette that they were in july 2020:

The likely top contenders are Senator Kamala Harris of California, Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois, Rep. Val Demings of Florida, and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico. Two blacks, an Asian, and a Latin. No tokenism there at all. The jockeying for position has been considerable, as pros favor Duckworth and ideologues favor Harris.

when are those UFOs coming? it would sure change Everything!

@wendy davis Kamala was the plan all along. They couldn't get the dogs to eat the dog food, so to speak, so they went with plan B, which is where we are now. Ironically, I think the only one who could "save" us would be Creepy Uncle Joe, should he choose not to go gentle into that goodnight. However, I am sure the Dems have ways of changing his mind, if he gets lucid enough to have any thoughts of his own.

how joe's dementia improves at this point, and given that even D-friendly MSM reporters are weighing in on the issue. myownself, i'm agnostic as to better or worse between 'the lotus flower', and gropin' joe.

and of course the Ds had been threatening the Trumpter with Amendment 25, article IV:

Section IV reads:

"Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President."

Section IV goes on to say that if two-thirds of both houses of Congress don't vote to uphold the decision and keep the vice president in charge within 21 days, then the powers and duties automatically transfer back to the president. So if the president doesn't want to give up his office, Feerick explained, he doesn't have to if Congress agrees he shouldn't.

any number of joe's reversals of DT's EOs turned out to be pro forma virtual signaling, not actual, such as his Muslim ban, caging kids at the border, etc.

but given that joe had admitted that it'll be barack obomba as the power behind the throne (and dayum, i hadn't archived that grat and telling Tweet), maybe he'll be wie enough to ak him to abdicate? i know it's silly, but the nuclear football briefcase full of blues bothers me as well).

via RT yesterday, with video:

"White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has said Biden would be holding a press briefing before the end of the month, but has not given a specific date. Asked on Monday whether Biden would be taking “more extensive” post-briefing questions than he has so far faced during interviews, she said, “I don’t know.” Psaki pushed back against claims Biden was hiding from the press, touting the oft-used line that he had conducted “more than 40 Q&As” since he had become president."

he'll be speaking tonight. ABC news (via msn.com this a.m.): a few outtakes:

For the third time this year, President Joe Biden will mark a landmark moment in the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering his first prime-time address Thursday night to recognize one year since widespread shutdowns began across the United States and to ask Americans to help with "what comes next." [...]

As the U.S. surpassed 500,000 deaths from COVID-19, Biden, joined by first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, held a candlelight vigil on the White House steps and ordered U.S. flags across the country to half-staff.
When Biden delivers his nearly 20-minute speech to the nation Thursday night, the death toll will be at least 525,000, the most of any country in the world. [...]

With the [$1.9 trillion] bill passed, Psaki also said they're looking ahead to getting Biden, Harris and their "best voices" on the road to sell this to the public -- but details on where they'll be traveling to were not immediately announced.
"We'll be emphasizing a number of components that are in the package and really having a conversation. This is important to the president personally. Having a conversation directly with people about how they could benefit, addressing questions they have, even taking their feedback on implementation and how to make it clear."

Psaki said they'll be using digital tools, hold interviews with local news stations and dispatch Cabinet members who will help implement the plan.

CNN say he will be live at 8 pm EST. of course he'll try to read via telepromper; he's been practicing already a per the link.

exposé (it' longish) but also this:

After repeatedly punting on the question, Press Secretary Psaki said on Friday that Biden would hold a press conference “before the end of the month,” adding that the president had been busy addressing the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting economic downturn. However, concerns over Biden’s elusiveness remain,

as he has also given no date for a State of the Union (SOTU) address, or even the customary ‘Address before Congress

’ that newly inaugurated presidents usually give in lieu of a full SOTU speech.

@lotlizard Our federal capital has relocated before, it can do so again; this time, move it someplace far, FAAAAR away from Virginia, the friggin' birthplace (and from what I understand, still the ultimate heartland) of American fascism. From what I gather, the Eastern US has always been more authoritarian than the West (where I've lived my whole life); simply moving the seat of our government somewhere beyond Tornado Alley might actually do some palpable good all by itself!

You'd think the rise of Silicon Valley would be a good thing for precisely this reason, but instead it seems to have been colonized. It was an entirely different place when I lived there, grounded in entirely different industries - not glamorous ("Nobody gives a fuck about disk-drives!" my father once declared miserably when explaining why we moved away - a move that has made him happy, but ruined my life), but real. Every time I hear about the place now, they're talking about a place I don't recognize (and I'm not sure I believe all of it, either - NYC refuses to believe anywhere could possibly be more cosmopolitan and authentically liberal than they!).

although she's left a lot out of her list, imo: ‘Freedom Rider: Trump/Biden Foreign Policy’, margaret kimberly, BAR, march 10, 2021
(she opens):

“Biden rules like Trump regarding Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Haiti, because the two imperial parties serve the same masters.

“The U.S. continues its tradition of keeping puppets in power like Jovenel Moise, in Haiti.”

Joe Biden has been president for only six weeks but his foreign policy direction is already very clear. There is rarely a lesser evil foreign policy in transitions from one administration to the next. No one is allowed to win Democratic or Republican Party nominations without paying fealty to the ruling classes. The oil companies, hedge funds, and military industrial complex corporations all have agendas to fulfill. They want to broaden the range of U.S. influence, extract resources, and make money for themselves. They have every expectation that their errand boys and girls in Congress and the White House will act accordingly.

Biden is no different in this regard. His secretary of state, Antony Blinken, is not only an Obama holdover, but he used his connections to make money for himself and further U.S interests during the Trump interregnum. He co-founded West ExecAdvisors, a “strategic consultancy” which provided access to Pentagon contracts. As a consultancy and not a lobbying firm, WestExec was not required to disclose information about its clients. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin joined Blinken as a partner at Pine Island Capital Partners , a private equity firm with connections in defense and aerospace. These are not just interesting factoids. This information is essential if one is to understand why there is such consistency in U.S. foreign policy.”

i'd been wracking my idjit brain to find this, even went on her Twitter thang, no luck. but i'd thought it was a film i was hunting, but nope: it's another book, not It Takes a Pillage:

‘Hillary Clinton is writing a political thriller, and the plot sounds pretty wild’, Feb. 23, 2021, latimes.com

Hillary Clinton is putting pen to paper to leverage her “worst nightmare” into a political thriller collaboration titled “State of Terror.”

The former secretary of State and her mystery-author friend Louise Penny will team on the novel, the plot of which — except for the part where the secretary of State is a “novice” — sounds a lot like a Clinton fever dream about what it would be like to work in the White House after the Trump administration.

“Before we started, we talked about her time as secretary of State,” Penny said in a press release Tuesday. “What was her worst nightmare? ‘State of Terror’ is the answer.” Penny said it was an “incredible experience” to get inside the State Department, the White House and the mind of a secretary of State.

"[W]e’re joining our experiences to explore the complex world of high-stakes diplomacy and treachery,” Clinton said of the project. “All is not as it first appears.”
In the book, a novice secretary of State joins the administration of her rival after “four years of American leadership that shrank from the world stage,” Simon & Schuster and St. Martin’s Press said in the release.

After a series of terrorist attacks that upsets the global order, the secretary has to assemble a team to unravel a deadly conspiracy that was “carefully designed to take advantage of an American government dangerously out of touch and out of power in the places where it counts the most.”

In case anyone was wondering what Clinton really thought? Yep, there it is.

this one's freaking hilarious!:

Hill reporter suggests Democrats could use BIDEN HOLOGRAM to ‘handle his public speeches’, 10 Mar, 2021, RT.com

‘As President Joe Biden faces scrutiny over his lack of press conferences, and questions about his mental and physical health from the public, the Hill’s Sharyl Attkisson has suggested a solution: use a hologram!

Attkisson acknowledges a recent public poll that found half of Americans are questioning whether Biden is physically and mentally up to the task of the presidency, and that over half are concerned about his lack of press conferences – he will reportedly host one before the end of the month. She says “officials in the administration” have told her they are “mulling far-fetched speculation that, upon further examination, starts to look almost like it is not completely outside the realm of the possible.”

on edit: i found one made in kotaku autralia, lol. on edit: the bloke or sheila had referenced the hill reporter's hilarity.

this is more of the long explanation of biden' not having really overturned DT's Muslim ban

'Progressives have accused President Joe Biden of continuing to unfairly deny entry to thousands of immigrants, despite rescinding the so-called "Muslim ban" imposed by his predecessor;, newsweek.com

'One of Biden's first actions when he took office was to reverse former President Donald Trump's travel ban on 13 mostly Muslim-majority and African countries, describing it as a "stain on our national conscience." He tasked the State Department to come up with a way to deal with the issue within 45 days.
On Monday, the State Department announced those who had been denied entry to the U.S. on or after January 20, 2020 could "seek readjudication" without resubmitting their application forms if their initial requests were valid.

Those denied entry before that date could also be reconsidered, although they needed to submit new applications.

However, applicants selected via the diversity lottery who had not been issued visas because of the ban between the fiscal years of 2017 and 2020 would not be entitled to new visas.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said that a large number of Africans would be affected and that Biden "has failed to help so many of those harmed" by the Trump administration's immigration restrictions.

"Instead of restoring this opportunity, President Biden just dusted off Trump's 'CLOSED' sign and locked the door behind him," ACLU's senior legislative and advocacy counsel, Manar Waheed, said in a statement.
"Although Biden made the Muslim ban recession a day one priority, that alone is not enough. Today, he cemented Trump's legacy of harm."
