it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Hillary supporters. I did like the part where he says he's:

set up safeguards to ensure that Dean supporters or Clark supporters don't try and hijack the threads by collectively banning the other side. It may take some tweaking, but it should work mostly okay.

It's been 13 years, still tweaking! But never fear, he's going to get that community moderation thing down to something that works, any day now.

This is the primary season. This is when it is supposed to be hashed out to determine a nominee. Hillary fans are like life long religious people who have come to the realization that religion is largely superstitious fable but can never admit it to themselves or anyone else sometimes resulting desperate actions. Cognitive dissonance the shrinks call it. No offense intended towards people of faith. I'm all for it when it serves to make people better people but then there's Ted Cruz. I rest my case. Moving right along.

So, hash it out until the primary is over and then unify to make good and damn sure the GOP is quashed. President Sanders. Has a nice ring to it.

I have noticed more and more of playing the victim from Hillary supporters since Kos posted the "explanation" to the edict. They must be upset that they can't just start lynch mobs on the Bernie supporters like they had planned and was starting. Now, we are the bad guys since hundreds of Bernie supporters left and the ones who are left are not taking shit from Hillary supporters anymore. Maybe they are scared that all of the Bernie supporters are going to be gone on the 16th and they will not have anyone to blame?

If someone genuinely prefers Hillary Clinton, I don't understand it, but I can respect it.

If someone genuinely believes HRC can win the GE and Sanders cannot, I can understand it, though I have seriously difficulty respecting it, mainly because I despise the fear it implies.

But regardless of which describes a particular HRC supporter, I simply cannot tolerate it when they treat "us" with the same contempt that almost all politicians almost always exhibit for almost all voters: Namely, when they state over and over as known facts things which are in some cases merely poorly argued opinions, and in other cases straightforward lies. I cannot tolerate being treated as if I am stupid and ignorant, and worse, I deserve to have my stupidity and ignorance exploited. It would be intolerable even if I were not far more intelligent and generally much better informed than almost all of them.

It is part and parcel of the ethically null world in which too many Americans cheerfully, or at least dumbly, operate. Somebody attempts to win your business by telling you that the free introductory supply of their product is limited to the first 43 phone calls: Why would you ever choose to become the customer of a business that begins its relationship with you by smugly, smirkingly lying straight up and straight out?

I don't have any interest in "partnering" with HRC's supporters in the event she wins the nomination, for the simple reason that they have proven themselves to be unworthy of the partnership.

And what's really tragic about it is this: Unlike the obnoxious Sanders supporters who do stupid things like post to #BernTheWitch, the HRC dissemblers are following their candidate's lead.

I decided long ago that I did not want HRC in the White House, but it wasn't until this campaign that I came to seriously dislike her. To the contrary, as I've often said to people, I always thought she was the sort of person that I'd like to hang out with at a family picnic. She has always reminded me of the sort of strong, sensible, midwestern family matriarchs that I've known and respected.

The last few months have changed that. And the last few weeks have nailed the coffin shut. First, there was Henry Fucking Kissinger, which demonstrates the unbridgeable chasm between HRC's understanding and mine, of moral and ethical function in public office. And second, there is this unbelievable, "Where was he on health care ..." business, which demonstrates the unbridgeable chasm between HRC's understanding and mine, of moral and ethical function in the pursuit of public office.

Any person who can vote for -- never mind stridently, vociferously, and disingenuously advocate for -- a candidate who doesn't consider HFK persona non grata, and who trivializes (to the point of "disappearing" them from history) the achievements and contributions of her opponent for the nomination, is a person with whom I've no inclination to share a discourse.

I read the article and was sickened by the whining. But then came the comments and it was incredibly juvenile. "She lied" "No, she didn't" "Yes, she did". I swear to God there was a line of these intellectually stimulating back and forths. I couldn't go very far into the comments, I felt my IQ shrinking. But it boils down to the fact that there seems to be no lie too big, no smear too mean, no line crossed and no donation too shady for these folks. They just bless her and her "sincere" apology for whatever shit she has stumbled into that day and kumbaya. They have checked their brains at the door, and that is scary to me.

This refusal to face reality. I could almost respect (ok, not really but close to almost) someone who could admit that yes, this and this and this are unethical and problematic, but still believes that Hillary has the most experience, is most likely to achieve A, B or C, or whatever.

But to shut one's eyes to very obvious lies and questionable ethical decisions - well, isn't that what we lefties are always ragging on the Republicans for? Yes, sometimes people disappoint and reality is unpleasant but you can't just close your eyes to it. I just can't respect anyone who refuses to face it. Refusing to acknowledge unpleasant facts and character flaws doesn't make them go away, and we're all going to suffer for that blindness.

I just don't understand the bizarre pedestal they have her on. And I'm sure they'd say the same thing about Bernie supporters, but they are mistaking enthusiasm for hero-worship. True, many of us are very enthusiastic, but I'm middle-aged now, and this is the first candidate in my lifetime who I believe to be honest and not in it for the power that comes with the position. That's something to be genuinely enthusiastic about.

But another Clinton in the White House? I just don't get it.

The Founding Fathers designed this crazy system that way, and the tradition has been maintained to this day.

It's not how many votes you get in the primary, it's how many delegates you get.

It's not how many individual votes you get in the general election, it's how many electoral votes you get. (Count how many times the winner of the popular vote has not gotten into the White House!)

Maxing out delegate count requires a different strategy from maxing out popular vote - this is a lesson that I think Mrs. Clinton has learned from 2008 (when it derailed her "inevitability"). But she's not implementing the strategy much better, and that's her biggest problem.

I think I understand Bernie's campaign strategy well enough, and also Triangulation strategy and the DNC rules implemented decades ago to aid incumbents. It's a long row to hoe yet not impossible for Bernie to win. I hope he does. Thanks.

The early states are designed to benefit Hillary (not Hillary specifically, but establishment candidates) and she was always going to win those and get an early lead. Its designed to be thus.

Now is the stretch coming up where we see what's what without that early state bias. The whole country should have a voice, not just 5 or 6 states.

Now she and hers want Sanders to leave the race in mid-March. And she's working the same race issue from the other side. Last time it was all about how "hard-working white people" wouldn't support him. Now it's all about how black people won't support Sanders.

I looked that up once and was surprised how seldom it has actually been. Four times total, and of them, only twice clearly. John Quincy Adams, like Bushlet, had to go outside the Electoral College to be determined. That was in 1824. 1876 Hayes and 1888 B Harrison were the other two. Not that I am now in favor of keeping the Electoral College as opposed to direct popular vote - I am not.

imagine two states, one with a caucus, one with a primary.

Say Bernie wins the caucus and there's an actual vote total announced...let's say he wins 20,000 to 10,000. Maybe if that state had a primary he'd have won by a smaller percentage but a higher vote margin. Anyway, another state has a primary and Hillary wins 150,000 to 130,000. You can see that Bernie, in this example, wins by a higher percentage than Hillary wins hers but if you add the two together (for some reason...apples and oranges) you have Hillary with more votes.

Or let's say the DNC decides to punish a state for moving its primary up in the schedule and all candidates drop out except one. And the whole exercise in that state does NOT count but the one candidate left on the ballot claims that she gets all the votes and her "delegates" should be seated at the convention.

What I'm saying is the whole idea of who has the most "votes" in primaries doesn't work unless all states have the same method of allocating delegates and all state events count. If every state had a primary than the numbers could be compared. On the other hand, when you have one region predominating in that count and the West Coast hasn't yet voted then you get a screwball partial result.

Imagine if the general election were like this and the southern states all voted first. Would people go "oh well, the Republicans are so far ahead"? It just wouldn't compute. It wouldn't be a representative sample.
