For native

C99, if I may.

Goodbye old friend. We're all sad to see you go. I have to say the outpouring of love touches my heart. I tend to stay more serious on this blog than I am in "real" life. I like to stay on message and not get into the "community" thing. Part of that is the relative impersonal nature of communicating with people online instead of in person. Part of it is I want to do something, I want to get the bastards who are ruling over us and I want to change things. So I don't always look past the words and see the people who are saying them. I've known you for a long time now but never seen you. I see you now native.

Most of us don't know each other that well, but then again, we do. Because only people like us would do this shit. That's a big connection right off the bat. We talk about things most people would wonder what the hell we're talking about. Smedley Butler? I just had a conversation tonight with a young couple and asked them if they knew who he was. I explained and thought of how I don't have to explain it to most here at C99. They've heard it over and over from me, you and others. We know each other more than we think or realize.

Our friend Steven gave us a very personal account of his life tonight. That took a lot for him to do that, I hope he understands how much we appreciate it even when the recs or comments aren't there. I thank him for his courage.

We're here because you helped us be here, not just this blog but this point in time, this level in the video game, this close to changing the world, to ending the wars. I hope you know that, it's true. I can't hide my feelings behind a computer tonight native, I'll miss you, we'll all miss you. You should know that, we want you to know that.

A lot of us are older, we know time is short, we know our time will come. Yours has come, I wish it was different. Just know that your friends here send you love, respect and thanks.

We're going to end the fucking wars native. Rest in Peace brother.

thank you for putting this into the words that I couldn't. This is truly a wonderful place and I thank those who created it, who invited me to be a part of it and for all of everyone's essays and commentaries. And JtC for keeping it running.

I too see you, native and I am sadden by this news. Your voice will be missed here, but we will continue this fight for you and for all of us. Go in peace, my friend.

To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.

- Kevin Alfred Strom

@snoopydawg "beautiful" was native's response upon being read Al's piece earlier today. He is still hearing and comprehending, but has lost almost all speech ability as the cancer invades those portions of his brain that give us the gift of speech. I wasnear weeping myself as I read it to him, and his eyes were on me, bright.

count on that, brother. We're in this for the long haul, and it won't last forever.

Peace, my friend.

The Peace Seekers are few in number, but we are concentrated and committed at c99. The end will come soon, Native, because it must. Our misbegotten wars have cast a shadow over the future, stopping progress. But illumination is coming fast. The rats infesting our government are scared, and should be. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Your name and spirit will forever be associated with this effort.

I would like to echo the sentiments expressed here and thank you all for putting them into words so beautifully.
We never know what sort of impact we will have when all is said and done but I am grateful for the voices on this site and don't think it helps to try and gauge our impact. The effort to care for this former-garden-of-eden-planet and all of its creatures is what matters.
We will just keep trying. So thank you Native for your efforts, I wish you peace and comfort.

A great tribute.

To be honest I wish I could meet more of the people here who write such wonderful commentary.

Native will be sorely missed.

Indeed, thank you Al, and all commenting, for your gifts of expression to say what I lack words for. I find it hard to imagine not reading native's posts and yes, we do know each 'anonymous internet' other, by what we care about and how we care...

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
