the MOTU at WEF can Shove their f’ing ‘Visions’…

….and I say that in the most polite way possible.

‘Own Nothing and Be Happy The Great Reset’s Vision of the Future World;  Economic Forum’s video tells us about the plans for humanity in the year 2030, Colin Todhunter, (UK and India) Nov. 12, 2020 (Creative Commons)

“The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting at the end of January in Davos, Switzerland, brings together international business and political leaders, economists and other high-profile individuals to discuss global issues.

Driven by the vision of its influential CEO Klaus Schwab, the WEF is the main driving force for the dystopian ‘great reset’, a tectonic shift that intends to change how we live, work and interact with each other.

The great reset entails a transformation of society resulting in permanent restrictions on fundamental liberties and mass surveillance as entire sectors are sacrificed to boost the monopoly and hegemony of pharmaceuticals corporations, high-tech/big data giants, Amazon, Google, major global chains, the digital payments sector, biotech concerns, etc.

Using COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions to push through this transformation, the great reset is being rolled out under the guise of a ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ in which older enterprises are to be driven to bankruptcy or absorbed into monopolies, effectively shutting down huge sections of the pre-COVID economy. Economies are being ‘restructured’ and many jobs will be carried out by AI-driven machines.

In a short video [at the top*] showcased on social media, the WEF predicts that by 2030, “You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy.”

A happy smiling face is depicted while a drone delivers a product to a household, no doubt ordered online and packaged by a robot in a giant Amazon warehouse: ‘no humans were involved in manufacturing, packaging or delivering this product’; rest assured, it is virus- and bacteria-free – because even in 2030, they will need to keep the fear narrative alive and well to maintain full-spectrum dominance over the population.

The jobless (and there will be many) could be placed on some kind of universal basic income and have their debts (indebtedness and bankruptcy on a massive scale is the deliberate result of lockdowns and restrictions) written off in return for handing their assets to the state or more precisely the financial institutions helping to drive this great reset.

The WEF says the public will ‘rent’ everything they require: stripping the right of ownership under the guise of ‘sustainable consumption’ and ‘saving the planet’. Of course, the tiny elite who rolled out this great reset will own everything.

Hundreds of millions around the world deemed ‘surplus to requirements’ are to be robbed (are currently being robbed) of their livelihoods. Our every movement and purchase are to be monitored and our main dealings will be online.

The plan for individual citizens could reflect the strategy to be applied to nation states. For instance, World Bank Group President David Malpass has stated that poorer countries will be ‘helped’ to get back on their feet after the various lockdowns that have been implemented. This ‘help’ will be on condition that neoliberal reforms and the undermining of public services are implemented and become further embedded.

On 20 April, the Wall Street Journal ran the headline ‘IMF, World Bank Face Deluge of Aid Requests From Developing World‘. Scores of countries are asking for bailouts and loans from financial institutions with $1.2 trillion to lend. An ideal recipe for fuelling dependency.

In return for debt relief or ‘support’, global conglomerates along with the likes of Bill Gates will be able to further dictate national policies and hollow out the remnants of nation state sovereignty.

Identity and meaning

What will happen to our social and personal identity? Is that to be eradicated in the quest to commodify and standardise human behaviour and everything we do?

The billionaire class who are pushing this agenda think they can own nature and all humans and can control both, whether through geoengineering the atmosphere, for example, genetically modifying soil microbes or doing a better job than nature by producing bio-synthesised fake food in a lab.

They think they can bring history to a close and reinvent the wheel by reshaping what it means to be human. And they think they can achieve this by 2030. It is a cold dystopian vision that wants to eradicate thousands of years of culture, tradition and practices virtually overnight.

And many of those cultures, traditions and practices relate to food and how we produce it and our deep-rooted connections to nature. Consider that many of the ancient rituals and celebrations of our forebears were built around stories and myths that helped them come to terms with some of the most basic issues of existence, from death to rebirth and fertility. These culturally embedded beliefs and practices served to sanctify their practical relationship with nature and its role in sustaining human life.

As agriculture became key to human survival, the planting and harvesting of crops and other seasonal activities associated with food production were central to these customs. Freyfaxi marks the beginning of the harvest in Norse paganism, for example, while Lammas or Lughnasadh is the celebration of the first harvest/grain harvest in Paganism.

Humans celebrated nature and the life it gave birth to. Ancient beliefs and rituals were imbued with hope and renewal and people had a necessary and immediate relationship with the sun, seeds, animals, wind, fire, soil and rain and the changing seasons that nourished and brought life. Our cultural and social relationships with agrarian production and associated deities had a sound practical base.

Prof Robert W Nicholls explains that the cults of Woden and Thor were superimposed on far older and better-rooted beliefs related to the sun and the earth, the crops and the animals and the rotation of the seasons between the light and warmth of summer and the cold and dark of winter.

We need look no further than India to appreciate the important relationship between culture, agriculture and ecology, not least the vital importance of the monsoon and seasonal planting and harvesting. Rural-based beliefs and rituals steeped in nature persist, even among urban Indians. These are bound to traditional knowledge systems where livelihoods, the seasons, food, cooking, processing, seed exchange, healthcare and the passing on of knowledge are all inter-related and form the essence of cultural diversity within India itself.

Although the industrial age resulted in a diminution of the connection between food and the natural environment as people moved to cities, traditional ‘food cultures’ – the practices, attitudes and beliefs surrounding the production, distribution and consumption of food – still thrive and highlight our ongoing connection to agriculture and nature.

‘Hand of god’ imperialism

If we go back to the 1950s, it is interesting to note Union Carbide’s corporate narrative based on a series of images that depicted the company as a ‘hand of god’ coming out of the sky to ‘solve’ some of the issues facing humanity. One of the most famous images is of the hand pouring the firm’s agrochemicals on Indian soils as if traditional farming practices were somehow ‘backward’.

Despite well-publicised claims to the contrary, this chemical-driven approach did not lead to higher food production according to the paper New Histories of the Green Revolution written by Prof Glenn Stone. However, it has had long-term devastating ecological, social and economic consequences (see Vandana Shiva’s book The Violence of the Green Revolution and Bhaskar Save’s now famous and highly insightful open letter to Indian officials).

In the book Food and Cultural Studies’ (Bob Ashley et al), we see how, some years ago, a Coca Cola TV ad campaign sold its product to an audience which associated modernity with a sugary drink and depicted ancient Aboriginal beliefs as harmful, ignorant and outdated. Coke and not rain became the giver of life to the parched. This type of ideology forms part of a wider strategy to discredit traditional cultures and portray them as being deficient and in need of assistance from ‘god-like’ corporations.

What we are seeing in 2020, is an acceleration of such processes. In terms of food and agriculture, traditional farming in places like India will be under increasing pressure from the big-tech giants and agribusiness to open up to lab-grown food, GMOs, genetically engineered soil microbes, data harvesting tools and drones and other ‘disruptive’ technologies.

The great reset includes farmerless farms being manned by driverless machines, monitored by drones and doused with chemicals to produce commodity crops from patented GM seeds for industrial ‘biomatter’ to be processed and constituted into something resembling food. What will happen to the farmers?

Post-COVID, the World Bank talks about helping countries get back on track in return for structural reforms. Are tens of millions of smallholder farmers to be enticed from their land in return for individual debt relief and universal basic income? The displacement of these farmers and the subsequent destruction of rural communities and their cultures was something the Gates Foundation once called for and cynically termed “land mobility”.

Cut through the euphemisms and it is clear that Bill Gates – and the other incredibly rich individuals behind the great reset – is an old-fashioned colonialist who supports the time-honoured dispossessive strategies of imperialism, whether this involves mining, appropriating and commodifying farmer knowledge, accelerating the transfer of research and seeds to corporations or facilitating intellectual property piracy and seed monopolies created through IP laws and seed regulations.

In places like India – still an agrarian-based society – will the land of these already (prior to COVID) heavily indebted farmers then be handed over to the tech giants, the financial institutions and global agribusiness to churn out their high-tech, data-driven GM industrial sludge? Is this part of the ‘own nothing, be happy’ bland brave new world being promoted by the WEF?

With the link completely severed between food production, nature and culturally embedded beliefs that give meaning and expression to life, we will be left with the individual human who exists on lab-based food, who is reliant on income from the state and who is stripped of satisfying productive endeavour and genuine self-fulfilment.

Technocratic meddling has already destroyed or undermined cultural diversity, meaningful social connections and agrarian ecosystems that draw on centuries of traditional knowledge and are increasingly recognised as valid approaches to secure food security (for example, see Food Security and Traditional Knowledge in India in the Journal of South Asian Studies).

The massive technocratic transformation currently envisaged regards humans as commodities to be controlled and monitored just like the lifeless technological drones and AI being promoted.

But do not worry – you will be property-less and happy in your open prison of mass unemployment, state dependency, track and chip health passports, cashlessness, mass vaccination and dehumanisation.”

Hidden behind a wall called "Science," the end of human liberty has been set in motion, and nothing is going to stop it. Any attempt to resist this assertion of power is met with furious anger and an immediate changing of the subject to "Science."

No it was not the billionaire class that told us to shut down our lives, it was "Science." Any opposition to Science is, by definition, stupidity. End of discussion. End of politics. End of everything we knew. Replaced by everything Scientific.

Really, folks, the billionaires did not cook this up and the virus is real. But nobody ever said you can't take advantage of a good thing. How do you think you get to be a billionaire in the first place?

Yes, he had severe Covid 7 months ago. Including several days in the ICU.

But he is now in quarantine because somebody close to him has the Virus.

This is for anybody who is clinging to the flimsy belief that surviving Covid gives you reliable immunity.

let alone the even flimsier idea that we can somehow achieve herd immunity.

@QMS

has reported it's gone into the Mink populations in Denmark.

Since June 2020, 214 human cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Denmark with SARS-CoV-2 variants associated with farmed minks, including 12 cases with a unique variant, reported on 5 November. All 12 cases were identified in September 2020 in North Jutland, Denmark. The cases ranged in age from 7 to 79 years, and eight had a link to the mink farming industry and four cases were from the local community.

Not to mention Italian Scientists are now reporting that COVID was showing up on blood test as early as last September of 2019.

There are no robust data on the real onset of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and spread in the prepandemic period worldwide.

We investigated the presence of SARS-CoV-2 receptor-binding domain (RBD)–specific antibodies in blood samples of 959 asymptomatic individuals enrolled in a prospective lung cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 to track the date of onset, frequency, and temporal and geographic variations across the Italian regions.

SARS-CoV-2 RBD-specific antibodies were detected in 111 of 959 (11.6%) individuals, starting from September 2019 (14%), with a cluster of positive cases (>30%) in the second week of February 2020 and the highest number (53.2%) in Lombardy.

This study shows an unexpected very early circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among asymptomatic individuals in Italy several months before the first patient was identified, and clarifies the onset and spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Finding SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in asymptomatic people before the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy may reshape the history of pandemic.

@NYCVG This whole "you don't have immunity even if you have had Covid" stuff is complete garbage. There have already been over a million confirmed cases world-wide. How many documented reinfections have there been? Maybe a dozen. World-wide. There are far more people in the population who have immune deficiencies of various sorts than there are examples of Covid reinfection.

So, why is Bo Jo hiding in quarantine when even he says he has anti-bodies to the virus? As Prime Minister of Britain, he is one of the chief propagandists for the pandemic and the "measures" being taken to fight it. He can't go against the rules--which don't allow for immunity being a thing--as he is in the public eye promoting the lockdown, etc.

Notice the gross contradiction, that the authorities are promoting mass vaccination against SARS-CoV2, which depends on the human immune system being used to prevent infection from the virus, while at the same time saying that that same immune system may not work if you were infected by the actual virus. We've got to be able to recognize blatant propaganda when it is used against us.

Their vaccines, like the Polio Vaccines, are now causing new out breaks of vaccine derived polio.

The WHO said initial outbreak investigations showed the cases were linked to a continuing vaccine-derived outbreak in Chad that was first detected last year and is now spreading in Chad and Cameroon.

While so-called vaccine-derived polio is a known risk, the emergence of these cases so soon after the announced eradication of wild polio in Africa is a setback.

Gee, now we're going to need a vaccine, for the vaccine, because we all know, each new strain, is a new revenue stream.

Totalitarians have never achieved the dominance they truly crave, because the dominance they crave is absolute, and complex living systems don't tend to remain either absolute or unchanging.

They are attempting, with some success, to use the internet as both a weapon and a trap in the service of achieving that absolute dominance. Obviously, I'm not going to brainstorm many specifics of how to resist this on the internet. But in general, the right way to go about resisting this, if you want to, is a sort of perforation: live in the holes in their system and create more. Small holes, some of them temporary (a la the Temporary Autonomous Zone) some of them semi-permanent. And value your work in creating those holes, and the work that you do while occupying them, but not too much. The key is, when one thing gets take down, another pops up. So don't get too invested in the continuation of any one thing. Invest in the spirit you are promoting in the world. Be mobile, and have a band of friends you can trust. And buttress your own health, mental and physical, in every way you know.

The only specific I'll suggest is obvious: seed-saving and seed exchange. They took over Seeds of Change decades ago, but I'm sure there are some smaller outfits who could start people off with some seeds. Once you're growing food (or other useful plants), gather seeds yourself and start your own small seed library.

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRTMe_EPgSM]

on edit: from trudell's biography:

'In 1979 that war took a terrible personal toll on John Trudell, in the form of an unspeable tragedy that changed his life forever.

On February 11, 1979 Trudell had burned an American flag during a demonstration in front of the J.Edgar Hoover building, the headquarters of the F.B.I. In Washington, DC, Trudell explained his motives for the flag-burning. “In the military, they said if the flag has been desecrated, the only way to properly dispose of it is to burn it. But they defined desecration of the flag as if it drops on the earth. I say injustice and racism and classism and your whole way of life desecrates whatever you say this thing’s supposed to mean.”

About 12 hours after the flag incident, in the early morning of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, a fire “of suspicious origin” burned down Trudell’s home on the Shoshone Palute reservation in Nevada, killing Trudell’s wife, Tina, their three children and Tina’s mother. Not surprisingly, the F.B.I. declined to investigate, and the blaze was officially ruled an “accident.” But Trudell flatly stated “It was murder; they were murdered as an act of war.”

Devastated by the tragedy, Trudell withdrew from the world for a time, and it was during this period of grief and exile that Trudell discovered his poetic gift. “It was when I was looking for something to hang on to, to keep me connected to this reality, that I started writing. I did not write poetry prior to that…Tina was the writer. She wrote poetry. And almost six months after the fire, when I was looking for help — I was looking to cut any spiritual deal. I was pissed off at God, at the Great Spirit, at all of ’em because this was a betrayal to me… And then the lines came. The lines were my bombs, my explosions, my tears, they were my everything.”

thus i often call him an extraordinary alchemist, who'd turned poison into medicine in the most glorious way imaginable.

@on the cusp Surely, though, you don't think the evolution of language should be led by ignorance, want, and corporate marketeers? I realize, of course, that that is often what's happened in the past, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't always actively try to avoid it going forward.

I'm actually very conservative when it comes to language - part of it is that, since independent thought leads to independent language, having a strong, ongoing central 'trunk' allows for more and healthier 'branches', and greater freedom of intelligent thought. The language of poverty is not conducive to intelligence, and isn't that what "the Left" is all about? Poverty culture is bad, and it isn't natural, but engineered, hence we want wealth redistribution and the restoration of the "middle class" and associated values.

So I can stay up to date on how they plan to fuck us over. And so I can write nasty comments on their videos. Crazy

This so called "reset", is so brazen, and the catastrophe that will unfold will be like nothing in human history. With everything else going on, Climate Crisis, Eco-Collapse, draught, heat waves, methane burp at any time, it's going to be a giant cluster-fuck.

that was WEF 2019: the 4th industrial revolution.

'The Fourth Industrial Revolution represents a fundamental change in the way we live, work and relate to one another. It is a new chapter in human development, enabled by extraordinary technology advances commensurate with those of the first, second and third industrial revolutions. These advances are merging the physical, digital and biological worlds in ways that create both huge promise and potential peril. The speed, breadth and depth of this revolution is forcing us to rethink how countries develop, how organisations create value and even what it means to be human. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is about more than just technology-driven change; it is an opportunity to help everyone, including leaders, policy-makers and people from all income groups and nations, to harness converging technologies in order to create an inclusive, human-centred future. The real opportunity is to look beyond technology, and find ways to give the greatest number of people the ability to positively impact their families, organisations and communities.'

see? they're here to help the Little People!

and folks are already seeing online docs and dentists, and 'education'. you just might get arrested for this sort of subversive thinking! ; )

I don't know what that stands for.

I saw on reddit that in Canada, the businesses who take the government assistance to keep their businesses afloat have to sign over part of their companies to the freaking government! A monetary equivalent can be substituted for giving the govt part ownership.

Not sure if this is a suggestion or a reality or complete fiction.

I tried to find the exact article, because all that was posted were 2 screenshots. However, the site one of the screenshot came from requires an account in order to read it. So, I don't have a link. The publication is https://www.theglobeandmail.com/ and the key terms I searched for (found in one of the screenshots), was "bridge financing" because that's what it was called under the photo.

Anyway, it reminds me of the IMF (International Monetary Fund). It reminded the reddit poster of old school mob tactics. Whatever it's called, it ties in nicely to The Great Reset of owning nothing. I wonder if the govt will oust the owner/prez of the companies either by literal or character assassination, and install their own, just like the IMF does?

from the Off-guardian.org.

Born in Ravensburg in 1938, Klaus Schwab is a child of Adolf Hitler’s Germany, a police-state regime built on fear and violence, on brainwashing and control, on propaganda and lies, on industrialism and eugenics, on dehumanisation and “disinfection”, on a chilling and grandiose vision of a “new order” that would last a thousand years.

The only thing the US needs to match this description of a country, is the "new order" lasting 1,000 years part. Everything else is America today, no?

Consider from crossculturalsolidarity.com.

In 1928 – five years before he came to power, and over a decade before the outbreak of World War II – Hitler praised the United States for establishing its dominance through the genocide of Native Americans. White Americans, in Hitler’s words, “gunned down the millions of Redskins to a few hundred thousand, and now kept the modest remnant under observation in a cage,” by which he meant reservations.

According to Hitler, White Americans had provided a model for other “Aryans.” Just as the United States had transformed itself into an immense global power through the conquest of the West – and the extermination of the “inferior races” that lived there – so too would Germany rise to immense power through a campaign of conquest and extermination in the lands to its east. Once the Nazis began those eastern campaigns, they sometimes referred to the Eastern European Jewish populations they exterminated as “Indians.”

Then there's this from DissentMagazine.com

The following summer, on June 5, 1934, Nazi lawyers, jurists, and medical doctors gathered under the auspices of Justice Minister Franz Gürtner to discuss how to codify the Prussian Memorandum. The very first item discussed was U.S. law: “Almost all the American states have race legislation,” Gürtner averred, before detailing a myriad of examples, including the many states that criminalized mixed marriages.

Roland Freisler, the murderous Nazi judge, stated at the meeting that U.S. jurisprudence would “suit us perfectly.” All the participants displayed either an eager interest in, or an avowed knowledge of, U.S. law. This went beyond specific legislation. The Nazis looked to an innovative legal culture that found ways to relegate Native Americans, African Americans, immigrants, Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos, and others to second- and third-class status; the many devious pathways around the constitutional guarantees of equal protection; the deliberate textual ambiguity on the definition of race itself; the draconian penalties for sexually consorting with a lesser race, or even meeting publicly. The United States in the 1930s was the apogee of a racist state.

Snip

The Nazi policymakers were at odds over whether the U.S. example was a useful one, with the traditionalists and radicals in fierce disagreement. What is remarkable is that the most radical Nazis were the most aggressive champions of U.S. law, and where the Nazis found the U.S. example lacking, it was because they thought it was too harsh.

The NAZI's thought some US racial laws were too harsh? Let that sink in.

But RT is reporting:

comment on is the RT video, or at least kinda comment on. she'd mentioned that the original Tweet on this subject had been deleted. and yes, it was, hence my asterisk when i'd said ['at the top*]. in every single bit of coverage of colin todhunter's exposé, from zezro hedge to reddit, and dissident voice...booted up Twitter, but signaled 'n o longer available' or 'wrong page'. but it has the same smiling bloke in todhunter's graphic at the top at off-guardian, it's short, etc.

so...i found it on youtube, and it seems to be the one.

on later edit: here's the version at dissident voice. check out: 'in a short video'.

side note: mr. wd just told me that the results of his covid test came back negative, the other (pre-surgery required) MRSA one isn't in yet. so...he's good to go for hernia surgery tomorrow. Wooot! the MRSA superbug one cracked me up, as most patients get it while they're in hospitals....

we've just never sweated about it, preferring to be philosophical rather than worried.

'As Boris Johnson announces Britain’s ‘great reset’, were the Covid ‘conspiracy theorists’ right all along?', oct. 7:, a few excerpts:

'The World Economic Forum, founded by Schwab, has been incredibly influential when it comes to the changes we’ve already seen in 2020, and what is being openly planned for the future. It was the WEF which co-hosted the ‘Event 201’ conference in New York in October 2019, which modelled a fictional global pandemic.

It was at the WEF’s annual meeting in Davos on January 24, 2020 that Bill Gates’ Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations (CEPI) held a press conference to announce a ‘new partnership’ to develop vaccines for the virus, when the number of confirmed worldwide cases was still in the hundreds.

It was the WEF’s Schwab who declared in June: “The pandemic represents a rare but narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine and reset our world.”

It was the WEF that in July was promoting a Covid-19 ‘Health Passport’ app, the ‘brainchild’ of one of its ‘Young Global Leaders’, as the future for travel and attending events.

If you take a look at the ‘founding partners’ of the WEF’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution you’ll see names such as Microsoft, Palantir, Facebook, Netflix and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, founded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Yes, that’s right, hi-tech online giants and hi-tech multi-billionaires supporting a big shift towards a stay-at-home, ‘do everything on the Internet’ society.

Is it a ‘conspiracy theory’ to say that Covid-19 is being used as a convenient opportunity to introduce long-planned changes to the economy and society, when those pushing for such changes like Schwab openly talk of there being a “rare but narrow window” for a major ‘reset’?

Actually, after Johnson’s speech yesterday, the biggest ‘conspiracy theorists’ now are those who DON’T think the British government is working to another agenda.'

Great Reset’ trends on Twitter after Trudeau speech on Covid-19 hints it’s not just a ‘conspiracy theory’, 16 Nov, 2020, Rt.com a few excerpts:

'The reemergence of a buzzword-laden speech by Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has social media users scrambling to look up the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset,” previously dismissed by some as mere conspiracy theory.

An excerpt of a recent Trudeau speech posted on Sunday has forced some to rethink their skepticism over the ‘Great Reset,’ long pooh-poohed as a conspiracy theory despite being the title of an actual manifesto for worldwide social change written by Klaus Schwab, the director of the World Economic Forum.

Promising a ‘reset’ is in the works, Trudeau expanded on the enigmatic ‘Build Back Better’ slogan that has surfaced on the lips of politicians and NGOs worldwide. Initially broadcast in late September, the speech saw him pledge $400 million to global humanitarian aid projects.

“Building back better means giving support to the most vulnerable while maintaining our momentum on reaching the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the [Sustainable Development Goals],” the PM said, referencing the UN’s Agenda 2030, another bête noire of conspiracy researchers who believe it represents the blueprint for global totalitarian government.

The Italian study is highly suspect. They use a proprietary ELISA assay so one can not really evaluate its accuracy. However, they get total rates of positives (IgG +IgM) in September 2019 greater than 16%, meaning that 16+% of their sample had or had recently had COVID-19, although no one got sick. Rates of individuals with anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies hardly reach those levels in places that have had very serious outbreaks. If I had to guess, I think their assay detects antibodies against other common corona viruses.

is that we are here, subject to the whims of others by our blind obedience to a glorified accounting system. No matter what we think the MoTU (learned something new) view all of us as profit making machines. Great wealth has accumulated to the few, and more wealth will not make them substantially more powerful. So, what to do? It seems it's time to play god to us ignorant mortals.

To refer to science fiction themes, I think it's possible that what the "Great Resetters" want is attainable, and much more. We have already given our open book lives to the MoTU for free, so it's possible to make a demographic snapshot by state, by county and prob by the road you live on, and ultimately, you.

So, you don't own anything, you rent. Nothing says you have wide open choices of where to live, of what to eat, of what to watch or where to work. If TPtB think there are too many undesirables, with the information available they can be corralled into "reservations". Towns that look like any town USA. Being able to control the food supply by town, or vaccinations during a pandemic, TPtB could introduce birth control into the food we eat, and in a generation or two the undesirables are eliminated humanely. In the fake meritocracy, maybe there will be an unwritten rule against more than one kid for those of us with less "merit". All it would take is to manipulate the glorified accounting system to push people into poverty if they have more than one kid.

This is just speculation, but watching the video, to save the planet we need to stop polluting, which means we have to stop consuming. For the elites, that means there needs to be less of us. All hail the New Royalty.

(extrapolated) imaginative thesis! and yes, erlich's 'the population bomb' has been revived by jane goodall, sir david attenborough, and WEF. it's always the african nations who need birth control, and eugenicist bill gates, jr and mellie have helped that process along. programmable, thus hackable, birth control chip implants. and gates also had a large hand in india's Cashless Society, which turned out great for...the Elites.

and again, now with covid-19, and money being so very dirty, cashless is the way to go.

climate chaos has been prefect for its revival, save for the fact that the western world's carbon footprints are a hundred times (okay, an exaggeration) times larger that those in the developing world.

now at WEF: 16—20 November 2020: Pioneers of Change Summit

thank you.

and yes, with covid health passports in some nations, mandatory vaccinations, and contact tracing, it's all beyond an orwellian nightmare. your imagined 'being herded onto reservations' gave me The Shivers, snode.

@Cant Stop the Macedonian Signal .
.

A very good question is where are those libertarian freedom lovers? The answer is they are right where they always are, over in their silos, discussing how WE are the ones pushing this totalitarian agenda.

You can see the process at work on this board as much of the conversation is about how stupid, racist, fascist and irrational that wingnuts are.

This offensive is being waged by owners of and proponents of digital technology. They know what they are doing and they have their opponents divided by what can only be described as primal hate.

We will not be able to get past that divide with digital technology. In teh last decades of the Soviet Union, the samizdat movement used the mimeograph machine. We need something analogous.

But most of all, we need to recognize that division is easy, unity is difficult. So long as we see this expression repeated on this and every other board I've ever seen, we are fucked:

.

Why should I pay any attention to right wing crap?

.
To learn something.

Of course, some people already know everything they need to know about what wingnuts have to say. Those folks are part of the problem. A big part.

Great Reset for Dummies
by Tessa Lena

What is “the Great Reset”?
The Great Reset is a massively funded, desperately ambitious, internationally coordinated project led by some of the biggest multinational corporations and financial players on the planet and carried out by cooperating state bodies and NGOs. Its soul is a combination of early 20th century science fiction, idyllic Soviet posters, the obsessiveness of a deranged accountant with a gambling addiction—and an upgraded, digital version of “Manifest Destiny.”

The peasants are getting fat, and they are breeding! Oh no.

The mathematical reason for the Great Reset is that thanks to technology, the planet has gotten small, and the infinite expansion economic model is bust—but obviously, the super wealthy want to continue staying super wealthy, and so they need a miracle, another bubble, plus a surgically precise system for managing what they perceive as “their limited resources.” Thus, they desperately want a bubble providing new growth out of thin air—literally—while simultaneously they seek to tighten the peasants’ belts, an effort that starts with “behavioral modification,” a.k.a. resetting the western peasants’ sense of entitlement to high life standards and liberties (see awful “privilege”).

The psychological reason for the Great Reset is the fear of losing control of property, the planet. I suppose, if you own billions and move trillions, your perception of reality gets funky, and everything down below looks like an ant hill that exists for you. Just ants and numbers, your assets.

Thus, the practical aim of the Great Reset is to fundamentally restructure the world’s economy and geopolitical relations based on two assumptions:

one, that every element of nature and every life form is a part of the global inventory (managed by the allegedly benevolent state, which, in turn, is owned by several suddenly benevolent wealthy people, via technology), and

two, that all inventory needs to be strictly accounted for: be registered in a central database, be readable by a scanner and easily ID’ed, and be managed by AI, using the latest “science.”

The goal is to count and then efficiently manage and control all resources, including people, on an unprecedented scale, with unprecedented digital anxiety and precision—all while the masters keep indulging, enjoying vast patches of conserved nature, free of unnecessary sovereign peasants and their unpredictability. The king’s world feels far more predictable and relaxed when the chaos of human subjectivity is contained for good.

Plus, as a potentially lucrative aside, a bunch of these tightly managed “assets” can be also turned into new financial instruments and traded. Game on!

In other words, it’s an “efficient” global feudalism that goes much farther than its medieval brother since the scanner is all-seeing: every person, every mineral, and every berry is digitally tagged and tracked. Under that framework, every peasant has a function that is derived not from the mystery of life, and not from their inner calling—but from AI, the master of efficiency and the servant of the king. Ideally, the peasants can be convinced that it’s good for them (or necessary to be safe, see “contact tracing”) and that this is what progress and happiness are like—but if not, there are other ways, from classic violence to virtual prisons to “morality pills.”

The reform in question is meant to disrupt all areas of life, on a planetary scale: government, international relations, finance, energy, food, medicine, jobs, urban planning, real estate, law enforcement, and human interactions—and it starts with changing the way we think of ourselves and our relationship with the world...

"Once you buy the argument that some segment of the citizenry should lose their rights, just because they are envied or resented, you are putting your own rights in jeopardy - quite aside from undermining any moral basis for respecting anybody's rights. You are opening the floodgates to arbitrary power. And once you open the floodgates, you can't tell the water where to go."

Great news re the hernia surgery!

I've been through two of these. One in the mid 70s and the last one just a few years ago. I can assure you that they've come a long way with the procedures ...and consequently, the recovery. My last one was night and day from the first. I was up and around in just a few days. Now, I wasn't out trimming trees or lifting engine blocks, but I could do most normal activities quickly. First time – no way. I was down for nearly a month.

The biggest difference was that the second procedure was arthroscopic. Even though I was a mess internally (the procedure took six hours), they didn't have to open up my diaphragm muscles as they did with the first one. That made all the difference.

So, hoping your Mr. WD was able to have the arthroscopic surgery rather than the old-fashioned kind.

Please be careful of that shoulder and don't overdo. I'm sure you'll be tempted.
