(Michael ‘Frickin’ Hayden): Hysteria over Jade Helm exercise in Texas was fueled by Russians, former CIA director says

I am absolutely convinced that these crazed lying bastids aren’t going to stop until someone, probably us, starts lobbing nukes but I’m not sure where at. Russia? Iran? A future as yet unidentified target that balks at kissing American ass anymore?

Hysteria over Jade Helm exercise in Texas was fueled by Russians, former CIA director says

*

A former director of the CIA and NSA said Wednesday that hysteria in Texas over a 2015 U.S. military training exercise called Jade Helm was fueled by Russians wanting to dominate “the information space,” and that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's decision to send the Texas State Guard to monitor the operation gave them proof of the power of such misinformation campaigns.

Michael Hayden, speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe podcast, chalked up peoples’ fear over Jade Helm 15 to “Russian bots and the American alt-right media [that] convinced many Texans [Jade Helm] was an Obama plan to round up political dissidents.”

Abbott ordered the State Guard to monitor the federal exercise soon after news broke of the operation. Hayden said that move gave Russians the go-ahead to continue — and possibly expand — their efforts to spread fear.

“At that point, I’m figuring the Russians are saying, ‘We can go big time,’” Hayden said of Abbott's response. “At that point, I think they made the decision, ‘We’re going to play in the electoral process.’”

This country has ‘jumped the shark’ ss the old phrase goes. This guy, a proven liar, shouldn’t be allowed to walk around in public. He’s poison. And he’s using GREG ABBOTT and the freaking batshit crazy paranoids in Texas as the delusional reason the RUSSIANS! messed with our elections?

They’re not even trying to think up good lies anymore. And there are millions who will buy into this crap.

How so many people are buying this. And some of them don't even have to be nudged into believing it. As I've stated a few times since Russia Gate started, some of the kos kids were already wondering how far back the Russian bots have been trying to play their games on us.

I keep thinking that this is going to fall flat one day and people will then wonder how they could have been so stupid, but now I'm wondering if that will happen. There are so many people who have been spreading it. Congress both at the state and federal levels, foreign government leaders, pretty much everyone in the msm and so many others.

Run away, run away!!, Russia is dropping rabbits all over the country! Run away .........
Get this. I watch a lot of tv shows while I'm surfing the net and there are at least 5 series that have included Russia Gate in them. This is a full scale bombardment of Russian hysteria and it has worked. Things that have been debunked are still quoted verbatim. Russia definitely hacked the voting rolls, system and machines and they did change people's votes! Yep, they most certainly did that and they are already working on effing up the midterms.

Remember when they said that Russia hacked the energy grid? Yep. This was around the time that Russia Gate was just getting its wheels on and there were all kinds of new accusations coming out almost daily. But then we're told that the energy grid wasn't actually hacked, someone's computer who worked at the Vermont energy grid was hacked and it wasn't even hooked up to the internet at the time.

This is where the revisionist propaganda history comes in.

Apparently Trump wasn't putting the new sanctions on Russia around the time the Skripals were poisoned. People really wanted him to do that and so someone who wasn't authorized to speak about the new information that the Vermont energy grid had been hacked released it to the press. Why?

Russian hacking of the US energy grid has been happening for some amount of time. We’re only hearing about it now.
The story was leaked -- by people who are with the FBI, Homeland Security and/or the Intelligence Community.
It was leaked to a wire service (AP), which supplies news to most if not all news media outlets across the USA (and other nations). This means the leakers wanted it known far and wide and fast.

So why was it leaked, and why now?

My feeling is that it was done for more than one reason, and here are the ones I can think of:

1) To force the administration by the weight of public opinion to act against Putin’s Russia. If so, it’s working; Trump went ahead with the sanctions, albeit in a limited manner, and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley announced that the US considers Putin’s Russia responsible for the UK poisoning on Sergei Skripal and his daughter, closing ranks with all the other NATO countries.

2) We are nearing the end-game, i.e. Mueller is working towards indicting Trump and/or Trump family members. As that impends, the above agencies want to:

turn American public opinion further against Putin’s Russia
make it understood by the public, the media and Congress that Putin’s Russia is a hostile foreign power, is dangerous, and is in effect at war with the US
add greater credibility to the accusation that Putin’s Russia interfered with the presidential election
make everyone and anyone who conspired with Putin’s Russia look like the traitors they are in the eyes of the public, the media and Congress, so that when Mueller indicts Trump for conspiring, support for him from his base is weakened
force Republicans in Congress to consider impeachment at that point.

public opinion? When was the last time public opinion made anyone in government do anything?

How long has Mueller almost been almost done with his investigation and getting ready to put the cuffs on Trump?

Haley said that the administration "Considers that Russia did indeed poison the Skripals. This is all we need now to find someone guilty of doing something? We just consider they did it without needing any proof? Okie-dokie then.

I don't remember hearing about this. Does anyone else remember this? Anyhoo, as Amanda has brought to our attention, the PTB have a ready supply of propaganda that they can use for any reason going back as long as they want to and revise history to blame Russia for it.

Well played. Claps and hoots and shouts!

@snoopydawg

that there’s no lie to outrageous that they won’t tell. And what’s appalling is that there is no shortage of idiots out there that want (and need) to believe it all.

Remember when we made FUN of the conspiracy theories about that Jade Whatever nonsense? Doesn’t it seem really frightening that even crazier conspiracies are being shopped around sbout it now? By an ex-CIA head (albeit one that is a proven liar)? TPTB are pushing the same buttons that the bush**/cheney bunch did when they wanted to do a little regime change in Iraq. Now they want to bomb Iran back to the Dark Ages. BOTH SIDES are looking to pull some nonsense against Iran.

‘We’ NEVER learn. And by ‘we’ I mean the assholes running this country and the ones who are stupid or desperate enough to believe their lies. There are just not enough of ‘us’ to put the brakes on all this insanity.

As reported by Barbara Honegger.

CIA spreads disinformation to news agencies
...
Here’s a scanned image of a column Anderson wrote on the disinformation campaign waged against Americans by the CIA, which was published on September 22, 1981, in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. (Source: Activist Post)
...
Here are excerpts from Anderson’s article:

… the Central Intelligence Agency is . . . trying to shut off channels of information to the electorate . . . and . . . spreading “disinformation” to news agency.

The most disturbing is the disinformation campaign. This poisons the well from which Americans draw the facts they need to govern themselves. The wise Thomas Jefferson sought to lay this issue to rest two centuries ago when he argued that the people’s right to know is more important than the officials’ right to govern.

Now along comes Bill Casey, the doddering CIA director, with the argument that the government has the right to mislead the public by planting phony stories in the press.

His purpose ostensibly is patriotic. He wants to build public support for the political, economic and military measures that the Reagan administration believes are necessary to counter the worldwide conspiracies of the Soviet Union.

Legal experts have warned that the CIA is forbidden by law from conducting operations within the United States and that disinformation aimed at the American public, therefore, would be illegal. But Casey has found a way that he thinks the CIA can get around the law. The disinformation will be planted with foreign news bureaus whose stories are routinely picked up by U.S. newspapers. […] Trusted CIA sources have told my associate Ron McRae that the foreign press, in the words of one insider, “is already being manipulated directly.”

My question is:

What makes us think the CIA had stopped its disinformation campaigns?

Wikipedia, now more politicized than ever, runs an entry on Jade Helm conspiracy theories.

In keeping with my admonition "Beware Of The Drill", I believe there were (and still are) reasons to not trust the USG about any of its "exercises". Many people have claimed the the Boston Marathon bombing was deliberately allowed to happen by the tipped-off DHS and Boston PD as a Martial Law
experiment. It certainly worked out that way--those warrantless residential entries violated the Fourth Amendment (oops, I should write the Former Fourth Amendment).

U.S. Representative Louie Gohmert said in a statement on May 5, 2015 that his "office has been inundated with calls referring to the Jade Helm 15 military exercise" with concerns that the U.S. Army is preparing for "modern-day martial law". He alluded to a notorious remark made by Barack Obama, who claimed that Pennsylvanians were "bitter" and "cling to guns or religion":[44] "I was rather appalled that the hostile areas amazingly have a Republican majority, 'cling to their guns and religion,' and believe in the sanctity of the United States Constitution".
